Predicting Financial Distress Distribution of Companies

Purpose: Predicting the financial distress distribution of an enterprise is important to warn enterprises about their future. Predicting the possibility of financial distress helps companies have action plans to avoid the possibility of bankruptcy. In this study, the author conducted a forecast of the financial distress distribution of enterprises. Research design, data and methodology: The forecasting method is based on Logit and Discriminant analysis models. The data was collected from companies listed on Vietnam Stock Exchange from 2012 to 2020. In which there are both companies suffer from financial distress and non-financial distress. Results: The forecast analysis results show that the Logistic model has better predictability than the Discriminant analysis model. At the same time, the results also indicate three main factors affecting the financial distress of enterprises at all three research stages: (1) Liquidity, (2) Interest payment, and (3) firm size. In addition, at each stage, the impact of factors on financial distress differs. Conclusions: From the results of this study, the author also made several recommendations to help companies better control company operations to avoid falling into financial distress. Adjustments to current assets, debt, and company expansion considerations are the most important factors for companies.
Factors Affecting the Development of Vietnamese Construction and Real Estate Companies

This study aims to investigate the factors that contribute to the sustainable development of 334 Vietnamese construction and real estate companies listed on the Stock Exchange of Vietnam over a 5-year period from 2016 to 2020. By using regression analysis with the support of STATA software through examining the financial statements, which involves looking into crucial ratios including capital structure, profitability, firm size, accounts receivable management, and tangible assets investment, this study sheds light on whether these accounting indicators could help predict the construction and real estate companies growing potential in the future. Nevertheless, these ratios slightly contribute to the explanation of the change in revenue growth ratio, with a result of 1.6%, indicating that the value relevance of accounting information provides a modest and insignificant effect on investment decisions. This is understandable because the Vietnamese construction and real estate market still has many shortcomings in handling unexpected events, as well as the industry’s peculiarities related to major capital sources from bank loans. Based on this study, governmental authorities and business executives should plan appropriate risk management policies and measures to contribute to the sustainable development of construction and real estate companies.

A multi-label Classification of Attributes on Face Images

Generative adversarial networks (GANs) have reached a great result at creating the synthesis image, especially in the face generation task. Unlike other deep learning tasks, the input of GANs is usually the random vector sampled by a probability distribution, which leads to unstable training and unpredictable output. One way to solve those problems is to employ the label condition in both the generator and discriminator. CelebA and FFHQ are the two most famous datasets for face image generation. While CelebA contains attribute annotations for more than 200,000 images, FFHQ does not have attribute annotations. Thus, in this work, we introduce a method to learn the attributes from CelebA then predict both soft and hard labels for FFHQ. The evaluated result from our model achieves 0.7611 points of the metric is the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Lymphoid organs, which are populated by dendritic cells (DCs), are highly specialized tissues and provide an ideal microenvironment for T-cell priming. However, intramuscular or subcutaneous delivery of vaccine to DCs, a subset of antigen-presenting cells, has failed to stimulate optimal immune response for effective vaccination and need for adjuvants to induce immune response. To address this issue, we developed an in situ-forming injectable hybrid hydrogel that spontaneously assemble into microporous network upon subcutaneous administration, which provide a cellular niche to host immune cells, including DCs. In situ-forming injectable hybrid hydrogelators, composed of protein-polymer conjugates, formed a hydrogel depot at the close proximity to the dermis, resulting in a rapid migration of immune cells to the hydrogel boundary and infiltration to the microporous network. The biocompatibility of the watery microporous network allows recruitment of DCs without a DC enhancement factor, which was significantly higher than that of traditional hydrogel releasing chemoattractants, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor. Owing to the sustained degradation of microporous hydrogel network, DNA vaccine release can be sustained, and the recruitment of DCs and their homing to lymph node can be modulated. Furthermore, immunization of a vaccine encoding amyloid-β fusion proteinbearing microporous network induced a robust antigen-specific immune response in vivo and strong recall immune response was exhibited due to immunogenic memory. These hybrid hydrogels can be administered in a minimally invasive manner using hypodermic needle, bypassing the need for cytokine or DC enhancement factor and provide niche to host immune cells. These findings highlight the potential of hybrid hydrogels that may serve as a simple, yet multifunctional, platform for DNA vaccine delivery to modulate immune response.</P>

Methylglyoxal reductase Gre2 converts methylglyoxal to lactaldehyde, using either NADH or NADPH as electron donor,to protect cells from the cytotoxic effects of methylglyoxal. Gre2 belongs to the short-chain dehydrogenase/reductasesuperfamily, which exhibits considerable variation in its substrate binding clefts to catalyze a broad range of substrates. In this study, to understand the structural features and molecular mechanism of Gre2, we overexpressed, purified, andcrystallized the N-terminal His6-tagged Gre2 protein from Candida albicans and obtained X-ray diffraction data at aresolution of 2.8 Å. The C. albicans Gre2 crystal belongs to space group I23 with unit cell parameters a = b = c = 149.6 Å, α= β = γ = 90º. There is one molecule in the asymmetric unit.

Honeybee populations infected by numerous viruses could not easily distinguish from the healthy populations because there are no apparent clinical symptoms and signs of infection. Black queen cell virus (BQCV) is one of the most prevalent viruses, resulting in the death of queen larvae and pupae. Like to other picornaviruses, BQCV has the RNA dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) that catalyzes the replication of viral RNA. The optimal conditions for expression of MBP-BQCV-RdRp protein were confirmed by an induction with 0.1mM IPTG at 25°C for 6 hours and the MBP-BQCV-RdRp protein was purified using by amylose resin. Total yield of protein reached approximately 5mg per 50ml of induced cells. Due to its property that is an essential enzyme of virus replication, purified recombinant BQCV-RdRp proteins can be provided to the further lead as an important source to study how to control the BQCV viral disease in honeybee, development of a rapid kit for the diagnosis of BQCV infection in field,or finding out the anti-viral chemical compound for the inhibitor assay to prevent BQCV replication in honeybee.
