Multi-modal Medical Image Fusion Based on the Multiwavelet and Nonsubsampled Direction Filter Bank

Aiming at solving the fusion problem of multimodal medical images, a novel medical image fusion algorithm is present in this paper. The multiwavelet is combined with the NSDFB to construct the proposed Multi-NSDFB transform. The source images can be decomposed into several lowpass coefficient and highpass coefficient. And all coefficients can be decomposed into four direction subbands. The modified spatial frequency is adopted to motivate the pulse coupled neural network to select the every direction subbands coefficients. Experiment results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can not only extract more important visual information from source images, but also effectively avoid the introduction of artificial information. The present scheme outperforms the redundant discrete wavelet transform-based, and the Ripplet transform-based in terms of both visual quality and objective evaluation.

Objective: This study aimed to identify proteins related to paclitaxel and carboplatin chemoresistance in cervical cancer. Methods: Quantitative proteomic analysis was performed on normal SiHa cells and those treated with paclitaxel and carboplatin for 14 days, with isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ) analysis. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses were used to identify related processes and differentially expressed proteins. Results: A total of 67 and 96 differentially expressed proteins were identified in the paclitaxel- and carboplatin- treated groups, respectively. GO and KEGG enrichment analyses identified 53 (43 upregulated and 10 downregulated) and 85 differentially expressed proteins (70 upregulated and 15 downregulated) in the paclitaxel- and carboplatin-treated groups, respectively. The cell counting kit-8 results revealed that APOA1 was overexpressed in both the paclitaxel- and carboplatin- resistant SiHa cells compared with the control cells. Immunohistochemistry showed that APOA1 was highly expressed in the paclitaxel- and carboplatin- resistant squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix. Conclusion: This study is the first to use iTRAQ to identify paclitaxel- and carboplatin- resistance proteins in cervical cells. We identified several proteins previously unassociated with paclitaxel and carboplatin resistance in cervical cancer, thereby expanding our understanding of paclitaxel and carboplatin resistance mechanisms. Moreover, these findings indicate that the APOA1 protein could serve as a potential marker for monitoring and predicting paclitaxel and carboplatin resistance levels.

<P>We report a low-voltage-driven amorphous indium-gallium-zinc oxide (a-IGZO) semiconductor-based Corbino (circular) thin-film transistor (TFT) with infinite output resistance beyond pinchoff. The Corbino TFT has inner and outer concentric ring electrodes, and when the latter is the drain, channel width (W) decreases with channel length (L), such that the W/L ratio is not changed after pinchoff. As demonstrated herein, this a-IGZO Corbino TFT is, therefore, a good candidate for uniform current drivers in applications, such as active-matrix organic light-emitting diode display pixels, where it would maintain the same drive (diode) currents, even with variations in supply voltage (V<SUB>DD</SUB>).</P>
Secured Green Communication Scheme for Interference Alignment Based Networks

In this paper, a new security and green communicationscheme is proposed to the interference-alignment (IA) based networks. To achieve a secured communication, full-duplex receiversare utilized to transmit artificial noise (AN). Both the signals andthe ANs are used to harvest energy to realize green communication. For these reasons, the feasible conditions of this scheme areanalyzed first. Secondly, the average transmission rate, the secrecyperformance and the harvested energy are investigated. Thirdly,an optimization scheme of simultaneous wireless information andpower transfer (SWIPT) is given to optimize the information transmissionand the energy harvesting efficiency. Meanwhile, an improvedIA iteration algorithm is designed to eliminate both the ANand the interference. Furthermore, relay cooperation is consideredand its system performance is analyzed. The simulations show thatthe target average transmission rate is not affected by AN, whilethe secrecy performance can be greatly improved. The energy harvestingefficiency is also better than the traditional schemes. Asexpected, the average transmission rate further is improved withthe relay cooperation.

<P>Enhanced and self-biased magnetoelectric (ME) coupling is demonstrated in a laminate heterostructure comprising 4 μm-thick Pb(Zr,Ti)O<SUB>3</SUB> (PZT) film deposited on 50 μm-thick flexible nickel (Ni) foil. A unique fabrication approach, combining room temperature deposition of PZT film by granule spray in vacuum (GSV) process and localized thermal treatment of the film by laser radiation, is utilized. This approach addresses the challenges in integrating ceramic films on metal substrates, which is often limited by the interfacial chemical reactions occurring at high processing temperatures. Laser-induced crystallinity improvement in the PZT thick film led to enhanced dielectric, ferroelectric, and magnetoelectric properties of the PZT/Ni composite. A high self-biased ME response on the order of 3.15 V/cm·Oe was obtained from the laser-annealed PZT/Ni film heterostructure. This value corresponds to a ∼2000% increment from the ME response (0.16 V/cm·Oe) measured from the as-deposited PZT/Ni sample. This result is also one of the highest reported values among similar ME composite systems. The tunability of self-biased ME coupling in PZT/Ni composite has been found to be related to the demagnetization field in Ni, strain mismatch between PZT and Ni, and flexural moment of the laminate structure. The phase-field model provides quantitative insight into these factors and illustrates their contributions toward the observed self-biased ME response. The results present a viable pathway toward designing and integrating ME components for a new generation of miniaturized tunable electronic devices.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
A Privacy-preserving Image Retrieval Scheme in Edge Computing Environment

Traditional cloud computing faces some challenges such as huge energy consumption, network delay and single point of failure. Edge computing is a typical distributed processing platform which includes multiple edge servers closer to the users, thus is more robust and can provide real-time computing services. Although outsourcing data to edge servers can bring great convenience, it also brings serious security threats. In order to provide image retrieval while ensuring users’ data privacy, a privacy preserving image retrieval scheme in edge environment is proposed. Considering the distributed characteristics of edge computing environment and the requirement for lightweight computing, we present a privacy-preserving image retrieval scheme in edge computing environment, which two or more “honest but curious” servers retrieve the image quickly and accurately without divulging the image content. Compared with other traditional schemes, the scheme consumes less computing resources and has higher computing efficiency, which is more suitable for resource-constrained edge computing environment. Experimental results show the algorithm has high security, retrieval accuracy and efficiency.

Background Stroke is the second leading cause of mortality and disability worldwide. Poststroke rehabilitation is still unsatisfactory in clinics, which brings great pain and economic burdens to stroke patients. In this study, an injectable hydrogel in which tannic acid (TA) acts as not only a building block but also a therapeutic drug, was developed for poststroke rehabilitation. Methods TA is used as a building block to form an injectable hydrogel (TA gel) with carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) by multivalent hydrogen bonds. The morphology, rheological properties, and TA release behavior of the hydrogel were characterized. The abilities of the TA gel to modulate microglial (BV2 cells) polarization and subsequently enhance the neuroplasticity of neuro cells (N2a cells) were assessed in vitro. The TA gel was injected into the cavity of stroke mice to evaluate motor function recovery, microglial polarization, and neuroplasticity in vivo. The molecular pathway through which TA modulates microglial polarization was also explored both in vitro and in vivo. Results The TA gel exhibited sustainable release behavior of TA. The TA gel can suppress the expression of CD16 and IL-1β, and upregulate the expression of CD206 and TGF-β in oxygen and glucose-deprived (OGD) BV2 cells, indicating the regulation of OGD BV2 cells to an anti-inflammatory phenotype in vitro. This finding further shows that the decrease in synaptophysin and PSD95 in OGD N2a cells is effectively recovered by anti-inflammatory BV2 cells. Furthermore, the TA gel decreased CD16/iNOS expression and increased CD206 expression in the periinfarct area of stroke mice, implying anti-inflammatory polarization of microglia in vivo. The colocalization of PSD95 and Vglut1 stains, as well as Golgi staining, showed the enhancement of neuroplasticity by the TA gel. Spontaneously, the TA gel successfully recovered the motor function of stroke mice. The western blot results in vitro and in vivo suggested that the TA gel regulated microglial polarization via the NF-κB pathway. Conclusion The TA gel serves as an effective brain injectable implant to treat stroke and shows promising potential to promote poststroke rehabilitation in the clinic.
A data corruption detection scheme based on ciphertexts in cloud environment

With the advent of the data era, people pay much more attention to data corruption. Aiming at the problem that the majority of existing schemes do not support corruption detection of ciphertext data stored in cloud environment, this paper proposes a data corruption detection scheme based on ciphertexts in cloud environment (DCDC). The scheme is based on the anomaly detection method of Gaussian model. Combined with related statistics knowledge and cryptography knowledge, the encrypted detection index for data corruption and corruption detection threshold for each type of data are constructed in the scheme according to the data labels; moreover, the detection token for data corruption is generated for the data to be detected according to the data labels, and the corruption detection of ciphertext data in cloud storage is realized through corresponding tokens. Security analysis shows that the algorithms in the scheme are semantically secure. Efficiency analysis and simulation results reveal that the scheme shows low computational cost and good application prospect.
