        Non-ferrous metals cannot be magnetically sorted so they use color sorting or hand sorting. Therefore the sorting performance and recycling rate is low. To improve this, researches are being conducted to develop a device for automatic metal sorting system based on the laser induction technology, which is a chemical analysis method. For laser irradiation, the position of the metal on the conveyor must be known. For this task, we use triangulation method using line beam laser and camera. 3D shape can be obtained by triangulation method. In this shape measurement process, when the surface of the metal is highly curved, one metal can be recognized as two. Also, since the process of calculating the shape of actual metal goes frame-by-frame, an object may be divided into two frames therefore two positions can be calculated. For laser irradiation, only one position in one metal should be calculated. Therefore, in this study, we try to determine whether two or more positions are generated from one metal by calculating the distance between the positions of the calculated metal in each frame.

      • Static and dynamic coordination behaviours of copper(i) ions in hexa(2-pyridyl)benzene ligand systems

        <P>Two hexaarylbenzenes having six pyridine substituents (LH and LM) were prepared and six corresponding coordination complexes with copper(i) chloride were synthesized. Monomeric complexes (1, 2a and 2b) and 1D coordination polymers (3, 4 and 5) were synthesized <I>via</I> the judicious concentration control of copper(i) ions and characterized fully by X-ray crystal analysis. The binding modes of the ligands to copper(i) ions in the coordination polymers were dependent on steric effects and solvents to determine the morphology of the coordination polymers. More interestingly, dynamic behaviours of the monomeric complexes (1, 2a and 2b) in the solution phase were studied to show potential applications of molecular machines with fluxional motions.</P>

      • Fluxional motion in a dinuclear copper(i) complex with a propeller-type ligand: metal hopping on both sides

        <P>The first study of fluxional motion in [Cu2(2-HPB)(MeCN)2Cl2] (1,2-HPB = hexa(2-pyridyl)benzene) is presented. For detailed examination of the fluxional motion mechanism, a monofluorinated derivative of the ligand (MFHPB) and its copper(i) complexes were synthesized and characterized. The solution NMR studies of monofluoro copper(i) complex 1a suggest the existence of five species in equilibrium. NMR spectra and DFT calculations suggest the fluxional motion of 1 resulting in the “metal hopping process” of two copper(i) ions.</P>

      • Ten Years Outcomes of Right Anterior Sectionectomy for Liver Disease: A Single-Center Experience with 415 Patients

        Aims: Right anterior sectionectomy (RAS) for hepatic disease is technically difficult and performed infrequently, so there is an insufficient reports about this surgery. We describe here the clinicopathologic and oncologic outcomes of right anterior segmentectomy in 415 patients. Methods: Patients treated with RAS at department of hepato- biliary and pancreatic surgery, Asan Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea between January 2008 and December 2017 were retrospectively reviewed. Results: All patients underwent RAS with alternative Glissonean pedicle clamp and Kelly clamp-crushing method for liver transection. Mean operative time was 165 minutes and transection time was 28 minutes. The incidence of major morbidity (≥grade III) occurred in 28 cases(6.7%). Bile leakage occurred in 63 patients (15.1%) but no patient needed reopration(grade C). Post hepatectomy liver failure grade A occurred in 39 patients (9.4%), grade B occurred in 7 patients (1.7%) but there was no patient of PHLF grade C. There was no in-hospital mortality due to postoperative complication. The mean hospital stay was 13.3 days.The pathologic diagnosis were hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC; n=361, 87.0%), intrahepatic cholangiocarcionoma (IHCC; n=15, 3.6%), HCC and IHCC mixed type (n=17, 4.1%), colorectal cancer liver metastasis (n=12, 2.9%), and the other lesions (n=10, 2.4%). Mean tumor size was 3.8 cm. In hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), 5 year overall survival(OS) rate was 78.3% and 10 year OS rate was 64.4%. Five year disease free survival(DFS) rate was 57.2%, 10 year DFS rate was 37.7%. Conclusions: RAS showed acceptable procedure-related morbidity, mortality and appropriate oncologic outcomes for HCC.

        Antitumor Effect of Metformin in Combination with Binimetinib on Melanoma Cells

        Cutaneous melanoma is a fatal disease for patients with distant metastasis. Metformin is the most widely used anti-diabetic drug, and proved to suppress cell proliferation and metastasis in diverse cancers including melanoma. We previously reported that MEK inhibitor trametinib increases the expression of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) regulators and melanoma cell motility, which are suppressed by addition of metformin in A375 melanoma cells. To confirm our findings further, we first evaluated the effect of metformin in combination with another MEK inhibitor binimetinib on cell viability in G361 melanoma cells. We then investigated whether binimetinib affects the expression of EMT regulators and cell motility. We finally monitored the effect of metformin on binimetinib-induced cell migration. Cell viability assay showed that combination index (CI) value at ED<sub>50</sub> is 0.80, suggesting synergy for the combination of metformin with binimetinib. Our results also revealed that binimetinib increased the expression of EMT regulators such as integrin αV, fibronectin and slug, which correlate well with the enhanced cell migration in wound healing assay. Metformin, on the contrary, suppressed the expression of sparc, integrin αV, fibronectin and N-cadherin with the reduced cell motility. The combination treatment showed that metformin counteracts the binimetinib-induced increase of cell motility. Overall, these results suggest that metformin with binimetinib might be useful as a potential therapeutic adjuvant against cell survival and metastatic activity in melanoma patients.

        A new method for cost-effective demand response strategy for apartment-type factory buildings

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A demand response (DR) program for buildings is widely considered an effective way to improve energy efficiency using various potential resources, such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and distributed generators. This study presents a method for a cost-effective DR strategy for apartment-type factory buildings composed of individually owned cells. An apartment-type factory building has high energy density but there is limited control over the energy usage of each cell. To design the DR strategy, an energy response factor is defined, taking into account the energy consumption changes of each cell in relation to the outdoor temperature. Based on that, an optimization problem for the DR program participation is formulated by minimizing the total costs and an optimal DR strategy is proposed. The proposed DR strategy is based on the selection of the cells for the DR participants and their capacity. A case study using three apartment-type buildings in Korea shows that the proposed DR strategy can achieve the cost reduction of up to 67.4% on average compared to a conventional DR approach.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A method for a DR strategy for apartment-type factory buildings is proposed to minimize the DR cost. </LI> <LI> The proposed method determines the optimal set of DR participants and the DR capacity of each participant. </LI> <LI> The proposed method does not require detailed information about demand, but operates on the aggregated demand measured for the billing. </LI> <LI> Numerical result using a case study involving three apartment-type buildings in Korea shows the proposed method can achieve the cost reduction of up to 67.4% on average compared to a conventional DR approach. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Design and Control of Pneumatic System for Recycling Classification of Non-Ferrous Metals

        South Korea is a resource-dependent country that relies on the import of most metal resources. Therefore, we should save resources through recycling. In particular, the recycle rate of non-ferrous metals is very low. This is due to the limitations of the recycling technology currently in use. To overcome these limitations, non-ferrous metal recycling studies using laser induced breakdown spectroscopy are underway. In this paper, we will discuss an automatic metal classification system that receives metal information from a laser-induced breakdown spectrum and classifies a metal scrap by material. Currently, sorting systems use non-contact pneumatic systems. Compared to the contact method, the system is durable and is controlled at high-speed. This is because the system does not directly contact the metal scrap. Therefore, we will study how to effectively use the flow rate by modeling the pneumatic system.

        본 논문은 N스크린 환경에서 TV 프로그램을 시청하면서 방송화면과 연관되거나 시청자가 개인적인 흥미를 가진 소재를 스마트 디바이스를 활용해 정보를 획득하는 방법과 수집된 정보를 바탕으로 개인 매거진을 편집 및 공유하는 방법(이하 TVzine 서비스)을 제안한다. 우선 TV와 개인 스마트 디바이스는 유선 및 무선으로 동기화되어 있다는 전제하에 TV 시청환경에서 사용자는 시청중인 TV프로그램상에서 제공되는 정보를 스마트 디바이스로 획득UX를 활용하여 부가정보(슬라이딩UX), 영상스크랩(터치UX), 화면스크랩(흔들기UX) 형식으로 수집하고 사용자 별로 보관한다. 사용자는 수집된 정보와 기 저장된 개인 라이브러리 정보 등의 이미지, 영상, 텍스트를 바탕으로 매거진 스타일의 콘텐츠를 개인적으로 편집 및 저장하여 클라우드를 통해 개인매거진 형태로 공유한다. 공유된 개별 콘텐츠는 전체, 유저, 카테고리별로 열람이 가능하다. This paper suggests a new service (called ‘TVzine’) which is a method for acquiring and sharing TV-related information and gives an easy way how to make & publish personal magazine on cloud. ‘ On the condition of network connection between TV and smart devices, users collect and save information related with watching TV program through smart devices by smart UX such as sliding UX, touch UX and shacking UX. The Users can edit and save personal magazines using the collected information and internal library data, and can share the magazines through cloud systems. Moreover users can read shared magazines by categories.
