Pressure dependence of upper critical fields in FeSe single crystals

<P>We investigate the pressure dependence of the upper critical fields (<I>μ</I> <SUB>0</SUB> <I>H</I> <SUB>c2</SUB>) for FeSe single crystals with pressure up to 2.57 GPa. The superconducting (SC) properties show a disparate behavior across a critical pressure where the pressure-induced antiferromagnetic phase coexists with superconductivity. The magnetoresistance for <I>H</I>//<I>ab</I> and <I>H</I>//<I>c</I> is very different: for <I>H</I>//<I>c</I>, magnetic field induces and enhances a hump in the resistivity close to the <I>T</I> <SUB>c</SUB> for pressures higher than 1.2 GPa, while it is absent for <I>H</I>//<I>ab</I>. Since the measured <I>μ</I> <SUB>0</SUB> <I>H</I> <SUB>c2</SUB> for FeSe samples is smaller than the orbital limited upper critical field <img ALIGN='MIDDLE' ALT='$({{{H}}^{{\rm{orb}}}}_{{\rm{c}}2})$' SRC='http://ej.iop.org/images/0953-2048/29/3/035007/sustaa1185ieqn1.gif'/> estimated by the Werthamer, Helfand and Hohenberg model, the Maki parameter (<I>α</I>) related to Pauli spin-paramagnetic effects is additionally considered to describe the temperature dependence of <I>μ</I> <SUB>0</SUB> <I>H</I> <SUB>c2</SUB>(<I>T</I>). Interestingly, the <I>α</I> value is hardly affected by pressure for <I>H</I>//<I>ab</I>, while it strongly increases with pressure for <I>H</I>//<I>c</I>. The pressure evolution of the <I>μ</I> <SUB>0</SUB> <I>H</I> <SUB>c2</SUB>(0) for the FeSe single crystals is found to be almost similar to that of <I>T</I> <SUB>c</SUB>(<I>P</I>), suggesting that the pressure-induced magnetic order adversely affects the upper critical fields as well as the SC transition temperature.</P>
국외 사례분석을 통한 KASS NOTAM 서비스 제공 및 시스템 구성 방안

NOTAM은 항공과 관련된 상태 정보를 항공종사자들에게 배포하는 공고문을 말한다. 국제민간항공기구인 ICAO는 SBAS 신호에 근거한 접근 절차를 사용하기 위해서는 SBAS 서비스에 대한 NOTAM 서비스를 제공해야 한다고 권고하고 있다. 이에, ICAO 권고 사항을 준수하여 KASS가 APV-I 급 SoL 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 SBAS 신호를 이용하여 착륙하는 모든 항공기에 NOTAM 서비스를 제공해야 한다. 때문에 이를 위한 KASS NOTAM 시스템 개발이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 국내외 NOTAM 관련한 규정을 살펴보고 국내에서 일반적인 NOTAM 서비스 제공 현황을 분석하였다. 또한 이를 토대로 KASS NOTAM 서비스 제공 방안을 제시하였다. 그리고 국외 기 구축된 미국 WAAS와 유럽 EGNOS의 NOTAM 시스템 분석을 통하여 향후 개발될 KASS NOTAM 시스템의 구성 방안을 제시하고 구성 방안에 따른 주요 기능 요구 사항을 분석하였다. NOTAM is an announcement that is distributed to flight attendants with status information related to aviation. ICAO, the International Civilian Aviation Organization, recommends that a NOTAM service be provided for the SBAS service in order to use the SBAS signal-based access procedure. To comply with ICAO recommendation, KASS must provide NOTAM service to all aircraft landing using SBAS signal in order to provide APV-I SoL service. Therefore, it is necessary to develop KASS NOTAM system to provide KASS NOTAM service. In this paper, we analyzed the regulations related to NOTAM in Korea and abroad and analyzed the present state of NOTAM service in Korea. Based on this, we propose a method of providing KASS NOTAM service. We analyzed the NOTAM system of WAAS in the US and EGNOS in Europe and analyzed the main functional requirements of the KASS NOTAM system.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Alginate/bacterial cellulose nanocomposite beads, with well-controlled size and regular spherical shapes, were prepared in a simple manner by entrapping <I>Gluconacetobacter xylinus</I> in barium alginate hydrogel beads, followed by cultivation of the entrapped cells in culture media with a low sodium ion concentration. The entire surface of the alginate hydrogel beads containing the cells was covered with cellulose fibers (∼30nm) after 36h of cultivation. The cellulose crystallinity index of the alginate/bacterial cellulose beads was 0.7, which was slightly lower than that of bacterial cellulose prepared by cultivating dispersed cells. The water vapor sorption capacity of the alginate/bacterial cellulose beads increased significantly from 0.07 to 38.00 (g/g dry bead) as cultivation time increased. These results clearly indicate that alginate/bacterial cellulose beads have a much higher surface area, crystallinity, and water-holding capacity than alginate beads. The immobilization of lipase on the surface of the nanocomposite beads was also investigated as a potential application of this system. The activity and specific activity of lipase immobilized on alginate/bacterial cellulose beads were 2.6- and 3.8-fold higher, respectively, than that of lipase immobilized on cellulose beads. The alginate/bacterial cellulose nanocomposite beads prepared in this study have several potential applications in the biocatalytic, biomedical, and pharmaceutical fields because of their biocompatibility, biodegradability, high crystallinity, and large surface area.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Alginate/bacterial cellulose (BC) beads with well-controlled size and shape were prepared. </LI> <LI> Alginate/BC beads showed high surface area, high crystallinity, and high water-holding capacity. </LI> <LI> Alginate/BC beads were more favorable than alginate beads for lipase immobilization. </LI> <LI> Alginate/BC beads have many potential applications in biocatalytic, biomedical, and pharmaceutical fields. </LI> </UL> </P>

The Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) is being utilized in numerous applications. The research for lane recognition using precise positioning of GNSS is in progress. It is based on the use of carrier phase measurements of the GPS signals. And it is more economical not to install additional facilities on the road. However, obstacles like buildings and trees along the roadside can block signals and have effects on satellite visibility of GNSS. The blocking of some satellite signals to the GPS antenna increase the GNSS position error. It causes a lane recognition failure. As a result, there is a need for the integration of a GNSS and vehicle steering model to improve the lane recognition performance. This paper focus on lane recognition performance test using vehicle steering model. To analyze the performance of the proposed method, simulations are carried out. The results show that lane performance using vehicle steering model is improved than using GNSS position only.

Thermoelectric energy harvesting—the transformation of waste heat into useful electricity—is of great interest for energy sustainability. The main obstacle is the low thermoelectric efficiency of materials for converting heat to electricity, quantified by the thermoelectric figure of merit, ZT. The best available n-type materials for use in mid-temperature (500–900 K) thermoelectric generators have a relatively low ZT of 1 or less, and so there is much interest in finding avenues for increasing this figure of merit. Here we report a binary crystalline n-type material, In<SUB>4</SUB>Se<SUB>3-δ</SUB>, which achieves the ZT value of 1.48 at 705 K—very high for a bulk material. Using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, electron diffraction, and first-principles calculations, we demonstrate that this material supports a charge density wave instability which is responsible for the large anisotropy observed in the electric and thermal transport. The high ZT value is the result of the high Seebeck coefficient and the low thermal conductivity in the plane of the charge density wave. Our results suggest a new direction in the search for high-performance thermoelectric materials, exploiting intrinsic nanostructural bulk properties induced by charge density waves.
국내에서 분리된 황국균을 활용한 된장 제조 및 특성 분석

국내 전통발효식품으로부터 protease 활성이 높은 Aspergillus oryzae SCF-6, SCF-37, 그리고 JJSF-1 균주를 선발하여 된장을 각각 제조하고 60일간 숙성하면서 품질을 비교 평가하였다. 60일 숙성 동안 수분 염도 및 pH는 시료 간에 큰 차이가 없었다. 된장의 숙성지표가 되는 아미노산성 질소의 함량은 숙성 경과에 따라 증가하여 60일 숙성 후 SCF-6을 활용하여 제조한 된장이 971.6 mg%로 다른 시료보다 높았으며, 유리아미노산 함량도 상대적으로 높은 8,064.9 mg%이었다. SCF-6과 37로 제조한 된장은 60일 숙성 후 GABA 함량이 각각 61.3과 53.7 mg%로 측정되었다. 색도는 숙성 경과에 따라 명도와 황색도는 점차 감소한 반면 적색도는 점차 증가 하였다. 아플라톡신은 모든 된장에서 불검출 되었고, 바이오제닉 아민 중 histamine 함량은 2.55-5.60 mg/kg 그리고 tyramine은 3.70-5.87 mg/kg으로 매우 낮게 측정되었다. 본 결과로 A. oryzae SCF-6은 장류 제조의 종균으로 적합한 것으로 판단된다. This study was conducted to evaluate the possible utility of 3 Aspergillus oryzae strains (designated as SCF- 6, SCF-37, and JJSH-1), isolated from Korean traditional fermented materials, as starter cultures in the soybean paste industry. Doenjang (fermented soybean paste) was made with the A. oryzae strains described above, and its quality attributes were analyzed during a 60-day aging period. No significant differences in pH, moisture, or salt content were detected among the doenjang varieties made with the 3 Aspergillus strains. The concentration of amino-nitrogen, an indicator of doenjang aging, increased in each sample during the aging period. After the 60-day aging period, the contents of amino-nitrogen and free amino acid in doenjang made with SCF-6 showed the highest concentrations among the tested doenjang products: 971.6 and 8,064.9 mg%, respectively. Measurements of the color of doenjang showed that lightness and yellowness decreased during the aging period, but redness increased. After the 60-day aging period, the γ-aminobutyric-n-acid (GABA) concentrations in doenjang made with SCF-6 and SCF-37 were 61.3 and 53.7 mg%, respectively. In doenjang samples, aflatoxin was not detected and the concentrations of biogenic amines (histamine and tyramine) were 2.55-5.60 mg/kg and 3.70-5.87 mg/kg, respectively. These results indicated that A. oryzae SCF-6 isolated from traditional fermented foods could be useful as a starter culture in the soybean paste industry.
