Korean civil airworthiness requirements of powerplant system are regulated by KAS(Korean Airworthiness Standard) Part 23 and Part 33. These are equivalent to FAR Part 23, Part 33 of FAA, and CS-23 and CS-E of EASA. FAA and EASA rewrite the airworthiness requirements for small airplane. They changed current ‘prescriptive regulation’ to a ‘performance-based regulation’ which makes safety performance the objective. Powerplant requirements have also been changed extensively by this concept revolution. In accordance with this reorganization, we studied the new powerplant system requirements of FAR Part 23 and proposed ideal directions to rewrite the Korean Airworthiness Standard.

Alternatives to Sexist Expressions in English. Studies in Modern Grammar 99, 197-210. This study tries to examine various sexist expressions in English and propose their alternatives. Given the close relationship between language and thought, sexist expressions in English reflect English speakers’ androcentric assumptions in male-dominated traditional social structures. We see sexist phenomena in English from generic masculine forms, sexism in word orders, marked feminine expressions etc. These sexist expressions can be replaced by alternatives that do not substantially change meanings and grammaticality. Generic masculine forms can be replaced by singular they, he or she, first and second person pronouns, and one. Sexist word orders can use one word expressions or both masculine-feminine and feminine-masculine orders. Marked feminine expressions can adopt universal and gender-neutral words instead. These politically correct expressions will lead English language speakers to an elevated social sense of gender equality. 본 연구는 국어와 영어의 긍정적 전이효과에 기인한 학업 성취도의 상관관계를 살펴보고자 고등학생을 대상으로 국어 성취도와 영어 성취도의 전체적인 상관관계, 성별에 따른 상관관계, 전공 계열에 따른 상관관계를 분석하였다. 자료 수집을 위하여 인문계 고등학교에 재학 중인 478명을 대상으로 2회의 전국 학력평가 성적과 1회의 기말고사 성적을 수집하였고, 수집된 자료는 IBM SPSS를 통해 분석되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 국어 성취도가 높은 학생이 영어 성취도가 높으며, 성별에 따른 상관관계는 남학생의 경우에 좀 더 높게 나타났다. 또한, 계열에 따른 상관관계는 자연계열 학생들이 인문계열 학생들의 경우보다 상당히 높게 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 교수자는 학습자를 대상으로 지나칠 정도로 영어 공부를 하는 것보다는 국어 공부를 열심히 하는 것이 영어 공부에도 도움이 된다는 점을 인식시켜 학습자들의 학습 성과를 높일 필요성이 있음을 시사한다. This study aims to examine the correlation between academic achievement caused by the positive transfer effect between Korean and English. It analyzed the overall correlation between Korean language achievement and English achievement, the correlation according to gender, and the correlation according to majors in high school students. For data collection, 478 students enrolled in humanities high schools were collected with two national academic achievement evaluation scores and one final exam grade, and the collected data were analyzed through IBM SPSS. The results of this study are that the students with high Korean language achievement have higher English achievement, and the correlation between genders is higher in the case of male students. In addition, the correlation according to the majors was significantly higher in the case of natural students than in the case of humanities students. This study suggests that there is a need for instructors to improve learners' learning outcomes by recognizing that studying Korean harder than studying English too much for learners is helpful in studying English.

우리나라 민간 소형 비행기 동력장치의 감항기준은 KAS Part 23(소형 비행기)과 Part 33(엔진)에서 규정하고 있다. 이 기준은 미연방항공청(FAA)의 FAR Part 23 및 Part 33과 유럽항공안전청(EASA)의 CS-23 및 CS-E와 동등한 체계를 갖는다. FAA와 EASA는 소형 비행기의 감항기준을 전면 개정하였다. 설계 방식과 적합성 입증방법을 지정한 규범적 규정에서 안전한 성능을 달성하도록 목표를 지정하는 성능기반형 규정으로 전환한 것이다. 이러한 개념적 전환에 따라 동력장치 감항기준 또한 기존의 요건에서 대폭 변경되었다. 이에 따라 FAA의 동력장치 인증요건 개정 사항을 살펴보고 우리나라의 감항기준 개정 방향을 고찰하였다.
