A panoramic study of K-factors for 111 processes at the 14 TeV LHC

In this comprehensive study, we investigate K-factors (K = 휎NLO∕휎LO ≡ 1 + 훿K) for a broad array of Standard Model processes at the 14 TeV LHC, which are pivotal for background assessments in Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) searches. Using MadGraph5_aMC@NLO, we calculate the leading-order and next-to-leading-order (NLO) cross-sections and compute the corresponding K-factors for 111 processes. Our analysis reveals K-factors ranging from 1.005 for pp → jjj to 4.221 for pp → W±훾훾훾. Key fndings include: (i) processes involving photons display signifcantly high K-factors, attributed to gluon-initiated processes at NLO; (ii) processes with multiple particle productions, particularly those involving vector bosons, exhibit elevated K-factors due to multiple real emission processes; (iii) there exists an inverse correlation between the number of jets and 훿K, indicating that the addition of jets generally leads to a decrease in 훿K. In addition, our investigation into diferential K-factors relative to transverse momentum and invariant mass shows notable increases with higher pT , but minimal changes with invariant mass. This study highlights the indispensable role of precise K-factor evaluations for accurate interpretations of BSM search outcomes.
새만금호 농업용지 방수제 주요지점의 수위 및 유속 수치모의

본 연구는 정부의 새만금 내부개발 기본구상의 변경취지에 부합되고 선도사업으로 추진되는 농업용지구간(54.2km)에 대해 시나리오별 수치모델을 구축하였다. 방수제 시공 현장 여건을 반영한 수치모델을 재현하여 각 공구별로 방수제시공시 세굴이 예측되는 곳에 대한 수치해석을 수행하여 공구별 방수제에 대한 수리학적 검토를 통해 장래 발생 가능한 변화를 예측하고자 하였다. 세굴이 예측되는 곳에 대한 수치해석 결과 100년 빈도 홍수위 조건에서 0.02㎧∼1.27㎧로 모의되어 세굴에 큰 영향을 주는 인자인 유속에 대해 안정적인 것으로 판단된다. 각각 방수제 공구별 시ㆍ종점 부분의 수위와 유속을 검토한 결과 100년 빈도의 홍수량이 유입시 유속분포가 0.02∼1.68㎧로 큰 유속이 발생되지 않는 것으로 분석되어 방수제 시공시 특별한 문제점은 발생되지 않는 것으로 판단되며, 시공 방법과 순서에 따른 방수제 안정성 검토가 앞으로 이루어져야 할 과제이다. 본 연구결과의 결과는 내부 개발 공사에 필요한 수리적인 기초자료를 제공함은 물론 새만금 종합간척사업과 관련하여 수자원 및 환경 등의 각종 정책 결정시 기초 자료로 활용될 것으로 판단된다. <P>Molybdenum oxide (MoO<SUB>3</SUB>) has gained immense attention because of its high electron mobility, wide band gap, and excellent optical and catalytic properties. However, the synthesis of uniform and large-area MoO<SUB>3</SUB> is challenging. Here, we report the synthesis of wafer-scale <I>α</I>-MoO<SUB>3</SUB> by plasma oxidation of Mo deposited on Si/SiO<SUB>2</SUB>. Mo was oxidized by O<SUB>2</SUB> plasma in a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) system at 150 °C. It was found that the synthesized <I>α</I>-MoO<SUB>3</SUB> had a highly uniform crystalline structure. For the as-synthesized <I>α</I>-MoO<SUB>3</SUB> sensor, we observed a current change when the relative humidity was increased from 11% to 95%. The sensor was exposed to different humidity levels with fast recovery time of about 8 s. Hence this feasibility study shows that MoO<SUB>3</SUB> synthesized at low temperature can be utilized for gas sensing applications by adopting flexible device technology.</P>
