        Portal cavernography during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography: from bilhemia to hemobilia

        Portobiliary fistulas are rare but may lead to life-threatening complications. Biliary plastic stent-induced portobiliary fistulas during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography have been described. Herein, we present a case of portal cavernography and recurrent hemobilia after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography in which a portobiliary fistula was detected in a patient with portal biliopathy. This likely indicates a change in clinical presentation (from bilhemia to hemobilia) after biliary drainage that was successfully treated by placement of a fully covered, self-expandable metallic stent.

        A Gastrobronchial Fistula Secondary to Endoscopic Internal Drainage of a Post-Sleeve Gastrectomy Fluid Collection

        A 44-year-old woman underwent sleeve gastrectomy, which was complicated by a leak. She was treated with two sessions ofendoscopic internal drainage using plastic double-pigtail stents. Her clinical evolution was favorable, but four months after the initialstent placement, she became symptomatic, and a gastrobronchial fistula with the proximal end of the stents invading the diaphragmwas diagnosed. She was treated with antibiotics, plastic stents were removed, and a partially covered metallic esophageal stent wasplaced. Eleven weeks later, the esophageal stent was removed with no evidence of fistula. Inappropriate stent size, position, stentingduration, and persistence of low-grade inflammation could explain the patient’s symptoms and provide a mechanism for gradualmuscle rupture and fistula formation. Although endoscopic internal drainage is usually safe and effective for the management ofpost-laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy leaks, close clinical and radiological follow-up is mandatory.

        Evaluation of dietary sources of protein on growth performance in pigs

        <P>A 6-week trial was conducted to investigate the effects of animal skin protein sources from swine and cattle on growth performance, body condition and blood characteristics in growing pigs. A total of 96 pigs (23.50 &plusmn; 0.61&nbsp;kg) were randomly allotted into four dietary treatment groups as follows: (1) basal diet (BD); (2) basal diet with 1.5% hydrolysed render meal (HRM); (3) basal diet with 1.5% swine skin meal (SSM); (4) basal diet with 1.5% cattle hide meal (CHM). There were six replicate pens per treatment with four pigs per pen. The average daily gain (ADG) was improved in response to SSM treatment compared with other treatments (P &lt; 0.05). Pigs fed with HRM, SSM and CHM diets showed increases in average daily feed intake (ADFI) and decreased gain-to-feed (G : F) ratios compared with pigs fed with BD (P &lt; 0.05). There were no differences in dry matter (DM), nitrogen (N), and energy (E) digestibility among treatments. The backfat thickness and lean percentage of pigs was unaffected by the treatments. Similarly, there was no difference in blood characteristics among treatments. In conclusion, the supplementation of SSM in growing pig diets improved the growth rate and Feed Intake (FI), but its usage in swine diets is limited by the poor protein quality. &nbsp;</P>

      • Role of Equatorial Anomaly in Earthquake time precursive features: A few strong events over West Pacific zone

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The earthquake (EQ) time coupling processes between equator-low-mid latitude ionosphere are complex due to inherent dynamical status of each latitudinal zone and qualified geomagnetic roles working in the system. In an attempt to identify such process, the paper presents temporal and latitudinal variations of ionization density (foF<SUB>2</SUB>) covering 45°N to 35°S, during a number of earthquake events (M > 5.5). The approaches adopted for extraction of features by the earthquake induced preparatory processes are discussed in the paper through identification of parameters like the ‘EQ time modification in density gradient’ defined by δ = (foF<SUB>2 max</SUB> − foF<SUB>2 min</SUB>)∕τ<SUB>mm</SUB>, where τ<SUB>mm</SUB> – time span (in days) between EQ modified density maximum and minimum, and the Earthquake time Equatorial Anomaly, i.e. EEA, one of the most significant phenomenon which develops even during night time irrespective of epicenter position. Based on the observations, the paper presents the seismic time coupling dynamics through anomaly like manifestations between equator, low and mid latitude ionosphere bringing in the global Total Electron Content (TEC) features as supporting indices.</P>

        Genetic Diversity among Indian Oak Tasar Silkworm, Antheraea proylei J. Revealed by ISSR Markers

        The Indian Oak Tasar silkworm, Antheraea proylei J. is a beneficial insect with great economic importance in India for its silk production. In this study, six populations of Antheraea proylei and A. frithi Moore (as an out group) were subjected to inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) marker analysis in order to assess its genetic diversity. Fifteen ISSR primers produced 91 markers among different breeds of A. proylei and A. frithi of which 89 are polymorphic, generating 97.8% polymorphism. The dendrogram constructed using the Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmetic Mean (UPGMA) and cluster analysis made using Nei's genetic distance resulted in the formation of one major group containing four sub-groups separating the breeds. This result suggests that ISSR amplification is potentially useful for molecular characterization of oak tasar silkworm genotypes.

        Antimicrobial and Synergistic Effects of Silver Nanoparticles Synthesized Using Soil Fungi of High Altitudes of Eastern Himalaya

        Fifty three fungi isolated from soils of different microhabitats of eastern Himalayan range (3,400-3,600 msl) were screened for mycosynthesis of silver nanaoparticles (AgNPs) and their efficacy as antimicrobials were assessed in combination with commonly used antibiotics. Three isolates $Aspergillus$ $terreus$ SP5, $Paecilomyces$ $lilacinus$ SF1 and $Fusarium$ sp. MP5 identified based on morphological and 18S rRNA gene sequences were found to synthesize AgNPs. These nanoparticles were characterized by visual observation followed by UV-visible spectrophotometric analysis. The AgNPs synthesized by $Aspergillus$ $terreus$ SP5, $Paecilomyces$ $lilacinus$ SF1 and $Fusarium$ sp. MP5 showed absorbance maxima at 412, 419, and 421 nm respectively in the visible region. Transmission electron microscopy micrograph showed formation of spherical AgNPs of 5-50 nm size. The antimicrobial activity of the mycosynthesized nanoparticles were investigated alone and in combination with commonly used antibiotics for analysis of growth inhibition zone against test organisms, namely, $Staphylococcus$ $aureus$ MTCC96, $Streptococcus$ $pyogenes$ MTCC1925, $Salmonella$ $enterica$ MTCC735 and $Enterococcus$ $faecalis$ MTCC2729. The mycosynthesized nanoparticles showed potent antibacterial activity and interestingly their syngergistic effect with erythromycin, methicillin, chloramphenicol and ciprofloxacin was significantly higher as compared to inhibitions by AgNPs alone. The present study indicates that silver nanoparticles synthesized using soil borne indigenous fungus of high altitudes show considerable antimicrobial activity, deserving further investigation for potential applications.

        남녀평등은 단순히 목적 그 자체만을 의미하는 것이 아니다. 그것은 좋은 자치 제도와 지속 가능한 개발을 촉진하는 것, 그리고 기아와 같은 국제적인 문제를 해결하기 위한 전제이다. 네팔은 2015년 까지 교육에서 남녀평등을 이루기 위해 재원과 노력을 쏟아 부을 것이다. 한국의 남녀평등은 불평등한 조건에서 시작되었으나 지속적인 노력으로 인하여 많은 개선과 변화를 이루었다. 이 연구의 목적은 교육 부문에서의 환경을 탐색하는 것이다. 따라서 한국에서 성에 대한 기본적인 특성을 살펴보았고, 배경으로 이러한 문제의 성격과 이를 해결하기 위한 개입의 방식에 대해서 문헌조사를 하였고, 이를 바탕으로 얻은 결과에 근거하 네팔의 정책 개혁에 긍정적인 실천방안을 제시할 예정이다. Gender equality is more than a goal in itself. It is a precondition for meeting the challenge of reducing poverty, promoting sustainable development and building good governance. The Government of" Nepal has concentrated its resources and efforts to achieve gender equality in education by 2015. It has formulated policies, plans and programs for the promotion of girls" education. Korea has changed its gender power relation from the underdeveloped characteristics to developed character. The objective of this study is conducted to explore the situation in the education sector. Therefore, I have explored the basic gender characteristics of Korean. In the background I have explored the formulation of the issues in the major policy documents and the leading interventions to achieve the situation. On the basis of the findings I do recommend the positive practices in Nepal?s policy reform process.

        An Outline of Meat Consumption in the Indian Population - A Pilot Review

        The consumption of meat is increasing in India and agriculture is considered as the backbone of a majority of people. Livestock plays a significant role, and poultry and dairy are the major sectors contributing to economic development. The majority of meats consumed in India are fish, bovine, mutton, goat, pig, and poultry. In Indian context, culture, traditions, customs, and taboos influence meat consumption to a great extent. However, studies show that urbanization has been causing a rise in demand for meat products. India is the world's second largest exporter of beef. In India, 95% of goat meat produced is consumed locally. Meat consumption, in particular, is determined by the religions where pork is forbidden to Muslims and beef is prohibited to Hindus. The preference and consumption of chicken meat can be considered as a universal phenomenon and chicken meat is greatly accepted by consumers in India as compared to the other meat consumption. The increase of chicken meat consumption is due to the versatility of the meat, relatively low cost in comparison to other meat, and the acceptance of the chicken meat to all religions. There has been a great rise in the production of livestock products and this is expected to continue in the future. The pattern of meat consumption depends considerably on culture, tradition and urbanization. This review was formulated with the objective of identifying the meat consumption patterns in a typical Indian society.
