Allelopathic and Competitive Effects of Tall Fescue on Weeds

Greenhouse and growth chamber trials were conducted at Virginia Tech's Glade Road Research Facility in Blacksburg, VA, USA to 1) examine the impact of three tall fescue mowing heights on canopy architecture, soil-surface temperature, light penetration, and seedling establishment of six weeds, and 2) determine whether soil leachate or aqueous leaf extract collected from tall fescue [Schedonorus arundinaceus (Schreb.) Dumort., nom. cons.] affect seed germination and growth of annual bluegrass (POa annua L.), crabgrass [Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop.], and goosegrass [Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn.]. Turf-type tall fescue mown at 3.8 cm for one year reduced penetration of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) at 1 cm above soil level by 43%. For each cm increase in mowing height, PAR decreased an additional 4.4% such that PAR was reduced 90% at the highest mowing of 11.4 cm. Canopy coverage, assessed via digital analysis of images collected from a 0.6-cm tall micro camera, decrease with mowing height in trends that mirrored that of PAR penetration. A concomitant linear decrease in temperature was also related to increased mowing height. Although many weed seedlings were observed at 14 d after seeding, most died by 28 d after seeding. Seedling counts at 28 days after seeding were reduced by tall fescue competition for all species but only annual bluegrass, dandelion (Taraxacum officinale F.H. Wigg.), and white clover (Trifolium repens L.) seedling counts were dependent on mowing height. Percentage reduction in 28-d seedling counts increased linearly with mowing height and were 77 to 88% for annual bluegrass and 43 to 77% for white clover. Dandelion seedling counts were at least 25% reduced at tall fescue mowing heights of 3.8 or 7.6 cm and 100% reduced by tall fescue mown at 11.4 cm. Soil leachate collected from tall fescue turf did not inhibit germination or seedling growth of annual grassy weeds. Extracts of ground tall fescue leaves reduced annual bluegrass germination and seedling vigor more when leaves were collected from plants grown in cool (7.2 C) versus warm (35 C) conditions.

무선 통신 시스템을 설계할 때, 인접 채널 간 간섭은 통신 QoS 에 영향을 미치기에 반드시 고려되어야 한다. 본 논문은 V2X 통신 기술인 DSRC 와 C-V2X 의 주파수 spectrum 을 분석하고 SIR 값을 계산한다. 또한 V2X 모듈을 사용하여 BSM 메시지 송/수신 실증을 수행하고, 인접 채널 간 간섭으로 인한 PER 을 계산하고 분석한다.
Comparative study in patients with positive versus negative test

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common inflammatory skin disorder and commonly associated with immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibody-related mechanisms. The autologous serum skin test (ASST) indicates the presence of functional circulating autoantibodies to high-affinity IgE receptor (FceRI). Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relation of total IgE and multiple allergen simultaneous test (MAST) whether ASST was positive. Methods: A total of 45 patients with severe AD who visited Eulji university hospital from November 2012 to March 2015 performed ASST. We analyzed total IgE and MAST between ASST positive group and negative group. Results: 38% (17/45) of patients were positive in ASST. 35% (6/17) of ASST positive group showed low total igE level, and there is no over 2500 IU/ml IgE level in ASST positive group. There were no significant differences between individual items of MAST according to ASST. Conclusion: This is the first study to evaluation the ASST in AD. Total IgE level in ASST positive group relatively lower than negative, but there is no significant difference from MAST to result of ASST. Further studies with more patients are required and deserve investigation.

Today, speeding accidents are constantly occurring. To prevent these accidents, speeding enforcement is implemented by measuring the speed using a camera in Korea. However, the camera-based speed enforcement can measure an instantaneous speed in one direction and has a disadvantage in that the measurement range is narrow. This paper proposes a V2X-based vehicle speed control system to overcome the shortcomings of a camera-based enforcement system. In this system, we compare accuracy using speed data extracted in GPS and IVN. Furthermore, we compare DSRC and C-V2X, leading technologies of V2X, in terms of timeliness and reliability. We conduct implementations on highways and city roads with tunnels to confirm that the V2X can be used in speed enforcement system. Based on the results, we verify both GPS/IVN of extracting vehicle speed and DSRC/CV2X of communication technology.
광촉매 활용을 위한 TiO<sub>2</sub> 나노튜브 제조기술 개발

In this study $TiO_2$ nanotube was grown on Ti by anodic oxidation to be used as a photocatalyst. The growth and formation of $TiO_2$ nanotube was monitored during anodization in ethylene glycol electrolyte by changing voltage and composition of electrolyte. Commercially available titanium plate (purity>99.8%, thickness:1mm) Applied voltage and concentration of $NH_4F$ and $H_2O$ were varied to find the optimum condition. Applied voltage is important to make $TiO_2$ nanotube and the electrolyte containing ethylene glycol, 0.2 wt% $NH_4F$ and 2 vol% $H_2O$ was confirmed to be the optimum conditions for the formation and growth of $TiO_2$ nanotubes.

본 논문은 V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) 통신 기술인 DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication)가 적용된 RSU(Road Side Unit)와 OBU (On-Board Unit)를 각각 육교와 차량에 배치하여 실제 주행 환경을 모사한 뒤, MCS (Modulation and Coding Scheme)를 조정하며 실증을 통해 PDR (Packet Delivery Ratio)을 분석한다. 또한 측정한 PDR을 토대로 V2X 시나리오에서 요구되는 통신 QoS (Quality-of-Service)를 만족하는 통신 범위를 비교한다.

<P>Here, we propose crystalline indium tin oxide/metal nanowire composite electrode (c-ITO/metal NW-GFRHybrimer) films as a robust platform for flexible optoelectronic devices. A very thin c-ITO overcoating layer was introduced to the surface-embedded metal nanowire (NW) network. The c-ITO/metal NW-GFRHybrimer films exhibited outstanding mechanical flexibility, excellent optoelectrical properties and thermal/chemical robustness. Highly flexible and efficient metal halide perovskite solar cells were fabricated on the films. The devices on the c-ITO/AgNW- and c-ITO/CuNW-GFRHybrimer films exhibited power conversion efficiency values of 14.15% and 12.95%, respectively. A synergetic combination of the thin c-ITO layer and the metal NW mesh transparent conducting electrode will be beneficial for use in flexible optoelectronic applications.</P>
