Isonitrosobenzoylacetone is particularly interesting, as the isonitroso group has two potentially coordinating sites which can compete with the carbonyl groups in forming bonds with the metal ions. In this paper tris(isonitrosobenzoylacetonato)cobalt(III) and bis(isonitrosobenzoylacetonato) palladium(II) have been prepared, and their structures have been investigated. Spectroscopic studies lead to the conclusion that the both complexes do not contain an OH group in the chelated five-membered ring structure in which the ligand coordinates to metal through oxygen of the acetyl group and nitrogen of the isonitroso group. The coordination manner of this ligand is similar to that of isonitrosoacetylacetone obtained by Haldar et al.^(3)(4) Very weak intramolecular hydrogen bonding of the free ligand is indicated by nmr and ir spectra.

Sodium butyrate (SB) has various metabolic actions. However, its effect on dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4) needs to be studied further. We aimed to evaluate the metabolic actions of SB, considering its physiologically relevant concentration. We evaluated the effect of SB on regulation of DPP-4 and its other metabolic actions, both in vitro (HepG2 cells and mouse mesangial cells) and in vivo (high fat diet [HFD]-induced obese mice). Ten-week HFD-induced obese C57BL/6J mice were subjected to SB treatment by adding SB to HFD which was maintained for an additional 16 weeks. In HepG2 cells, SB suppressed DPP-4 activity and expression at sub-molar concentrations, whereas it increased DPP-4 activity at a concentration of $1,000{\mu}M$. In HFD-induced obese mice, SB decreased blood glucose, serum levels of insulin and $IL-1{\beta}$, and DPP-4 activity, and suppressed the increase in body weight. On the contrary, various tissues including liver, kidney, and peripheral blood cells showed variable responses of DPP-4 to SB. Especially in the kidney, although DPP-4 activity was decreased by SB in HFD-induced obese mice, it caused an increase in mRNA expression of $TNF-{\alpha}$, IL-6, and $IL-1{\beta}$. The pro-inflammatory actions of SB in the kidney of HFD-induced obese mice were recapitulated by cultured mesangial cell experiments, in which SB stimulated the secretion of several cytokines from cells. Our results showed that SB has differential actions according to its treatment dose and the type of cells and tissues. Thus, further studies are required to evaluate its therapeutic relevance in metabolic diseases including diabetes and obesity.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The tribological characteristics of micro-ball bearing comprising Si substrate with V-shaped grooves applied with various types of thin films were investigated. Self-assembled monolayers and metallic thin films were deposited on the Si substrate to enhance the tribological characteristics. Experiments were conducted for 100 and 2000 cycles to estimate initial frictional behavior and durability of micro-ball bearing, respectively. It was demonstrated that both metallic thin films and self-assembled monolayers effectively reduced the friction coefficient and extended the lifetime of the micro-ball bearing. Particularly, self-assembled monolayer exhibited more stable frictional characteristics and longer lifetime compared to metallic thin films.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Investigation of micro-ball bearing with V-shaped grooves coated with protective layers was conducted. </LI> <LI> In case of Ag coating for V-groove, thin Ag film (33 nm) provided higher lubrication effect than thick Ag film (126 nm). </LI> <LI> OTS-SAM coated V-shaped groove recorded the lowest friction coefficient value with 0.0076. </LI> <LI> For micro-ball bearing, OTS-SAM coating are provides notable resistance of friction and wear. </LI> </UL> </P>

We studied a student`s understanding of basic scientific concepts in learning process of middle school. Based on the re sult of Test, We made an U-P table and a M-P table by computer. It shows that which concepts are learned by each student. Bt this evidence, We proposed the reforming plans for teaching-learning method. We can conculede that there are many kinds of patterns in learning process of basic scientific concepts.
Ka 대역을 공유하는 정지궤도 위성망과 지상망간 주파수 간섭 평가 연구

오늘날의 다양한 무선 시스템을 통한 서비스의 공존은 간섭 문제를 야기시킬 수 있으며, 제한된 주파수 대역을 효율적으로 활용하기 위해서는 보다 정확하고 효과적인 주파수 공유 기술에 대한 연구가 필수적이라고 할 수 있다. 특히 위성시스템이 가지는 광역성으로 인하여 지상시스템과의 주파수 공유는 필수적이다. Ka 대역 주파수를 사용하는 위성 시스템은 지향성 안테나를 사용하게 되므로 위성의 방위각을 고려한 주파수 공유 결과에 대한 분석은 주파수 효율성을 높이는데 매우 큰 역할을 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 위성망과 지상망과의 간섭을 안테나의 방위각을 고려하여 분석한 결과를 제시하고, 주파수 공유 시 요구되는 망간 최소 이격 거리를 분석한 결과를 제시함으로써 분석 결과가 실제 시스템 설계 및 구현에 활용될 수 있도록 하고 있다. Co-existence of various wireless systems may cause frequency interference problem. For this reason, frequency sharing studies play a very important role in order to use limited spectrum resources efficiently. Especially, because a satellite system covers a global area in nature, the frequency sharing between the satellite system and terrestrial systems is essential. For satellite systems using Ka bands, we can increase spectrum efficiency by considering off-axis angles of earth station antenna. In this paper, we demonstrate the analysis result of separation distance between the satellite earth station and a terrestrial repeater, and the presented results can be used to design and implement Ka band wireless systems.
