This study aims to examine the influence of capital structure on the business efficiency of joint stock commercial banks listed on the Vietnamese stock market. The article uses data collected from the financial statements of 15 prominent joint-stock commercial banks out of 27 joint-stock commercial banks listed in Vietnam from 2011 to 2021. The research uses E-view software in quantitative analysis to build regression models to determine the relationship and the impact of capital structure factors on the business efficiency of listed joint stock commercial banks. Research results show that ROA is affected by 2 variables of capital structure. It is the sum of customer deposits to total assets and total liabilities to total equity. Total debt to total equity and total customer deposits to total assets both have a negative effect on ROA. For the regression results of ROA with all control variables, the control variables have a positive relationship with the dependent variable. The article has provided recommendations based on the research findings to determine the proper capital structure. Managers must solve the outstanding amount of mobilized capital in previous years, combined with the bad debt handling activities that have arisen.

Background: In primary total hip replacements (THRs), the dissected femoral heads (FHs) are commonly used to make the bone-chips for the reconstruction in the orthopaedic surgery. The donated FHs are routinely microbiologically cultured to identify and contaminated FHs are discarded. This study examines whether a positive FH culture predicts an infection and prosthetic failure after primary THR. Methods: The study sampled 274 donated FHs from patients with osteonecrosis (ON), hip joint osteoarthritis (OA), and femoral neck fracture (FNF) in THR to culture the microbes. The FH contamination rates were analyzed for ON, OA, and FNF groups. Proportion of the postoperative infection or prosthetic failure in the group of donors with a positive FH culture were compared to the proportion in the group of donors with a negative FH culture. Results: The rates of the positive culture in the ON, OA, and FNF groups were 7.1%, 3.8%, and 4.0%, respectively. The infection rate was found to be non-significantly greater in the ON group than in the OA and FNF groups. In the negative culture group, one patient (0.63%) had a postoperative superficial infection, and five patients (3.2%) experienced additional surgeries including a fixation for a periprosthetic fracture, within a minimum follow-up of two years. However, no postoperative infection was encountered, and no revision surgery was required in the positive culture group. Conclusions: A positive FH culture is not always associated with elevated risks of infection or prosthetic failure after THR. Therefore, such finding cannot be used as a prognostic factor of THR. The FHs that return a positive culture may not lead to the orthopaedic assessment of an infection or other postoperative complication risks in primary THR.

The three-phase four-leg voltage-source inverter topology is an interesting option for the three-phase four-wire system. With an additional leg, this topology can achieve superior performance under unbalanced and nonlinear load conditions. However, because of the low bandwidth of conventional controllers in high-power inverter applications, the system cannot guarantee a balanced output voltage under the unbalanced load condition. Most of the methods proposed to solve this problem mainly use the multiple synchronous frame method, which requires several controllers and a large amount of computation because of frame transformation. This study proposes a simple hybrid controller that combines proportional-integral (PI) and resonant controllers in the synchronous frame synchronized with the positive-sequence component of the output voltage of the three-phase four-leg inverter. The design procedure for the controller and the theoretical analysis are presented. The performance of the proposed method is verified by the experimental results and compared with that of the conventional PI controller.
Precision Control for Ionic Polymer Metal Composite Actuator Based on Quantitative Feedback Theory

An ion polymer metal composite (IPMC) is an Electro-Active Polymer (EAP) that bends in response to a small applied electrical field as a result of mobility of cations in the polymer network and vice versa. Recently, IPMC is widely applied in many fields such as biometric, biomedical and micro manipulator fields. This paper proposes a robust position controller for IPMCs which is based on the quantitative feedback theory (QFT). Firstly, the IPMC actuation was investigated. The PRBS input voltage signals were applied to the IPMC in order to identify the system characteristic. Consequently, the QFT controller for the IPMC was designed from the identified IPMC model. Experiments were carried out to validate the effectiveness of proposed controller applied to the IPMC.
Content-Aware Proactive Caching for Backhaul Offloading in Cellular Network
Doan, Khai Nguyen,Van Nguyen, Thang,Quek, Tony Q. S.,Shin, Hyundong IEEE 2018 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS Vol.17 No.5

Proactive caching is considered a cost-effective method to address the backhaul bottleneck problem in cellular network. In this paper, we propose a novel popularity predicting–caching procedure that takes raw video data as an input to determine an optimal cache placement policy, which deals with both published and unpublished videos. To anticipate the popularity of unpublished videos of which the statistical information is not available, we apply the content-based approach by extracting and condensing video features into a high-dimensional vector. Subsequently, we form <TEX>$G$</TEX> clusters of features representing the potential video categories (VCs) and map the feature vector into a <TEX>$G$</TEX>-dimensional space, where each element indicates the percentage to which the video contains the features of the corresponding VC. Finally, we train a prediction model to foresee the popularity, where the set of published videos is used as training data. Last, the prediction with expert advice method is used to update the training set, and to gain insight into how the predictor output will deviate from the best expert prediction, we address the concept of expected cumulative loss and derive the analytical expression for its upper bound. Extensive simulation results are shown to gain insight into our proposed system subject to different factors, such as network size, cache capacity, and user’s preference profile. In summary, we show that applying intelligence-based content-aware proactive caching is an efficient approach to significantly improving the operation of cellular networks in the future.

Abstract

Ticks are vectors of various pathogens that affect humans and animals throughout the world. Anaplasma bovis is one of the most important tick-borne pathogens that cause cattle diseases but there is still very little information available about this agent in Korea. In the present study, 535 Haemaphysalis longicornis tick pools were analyzed from grazing cattle in five Korean provinces. A. bovis was detected in 50 (9.3%) of 535 tick pools using 16S rRNA-based PCR. A. bovis infections were detected for the first time in ticks feeding on cattle in Chungbuk, Geongbuk, and Jeonbuk provinces in Korea. The 50 positive PCR products were sequenced successfully and compared with sequences in GenBank. Phylogenetic analysis of the Korean isolates classified them into four genotypes with nucleotide sequence identities of 99.4–100%. Two of the four genotypes had high similarity (99.8–100%) with known sequences. The other two genotypes have never been identified.
