In order to develop a tunable resonator which can be easily operated by DC bias and applied for microwave tunable filters and devices using ferroelectric thin or thick films, the non conductor backed-and conductor backed- coplanar stripline resonators have been designed and analyzed. They have been designed to be operated at 25 GHz which involve coplanar stripline input and output ports. The resonators have been simulated and analyzed using Ansoft HFSS. The research has been focused on the Quality factor of the coplanar stripline resonator. The conductor Q, box Q, and radiation Q of the resonators have been analyzed and calculated according to the substrate thickness & conductor width of the resonators. From these parameters, the loss factors of the coplanar stripline resonator have been investigated. The conducting Q of the coplanar stripline resonator has no relation with the thickness of dielectric substrate and increases as the conductor width increases. The box Q has no much relation with the thickness of substrate and the conductor width, which is above 2000. The radiation loss increases as the thickness of substrate and the conductor width increase. To decrease the radiation loss of the coplanar stripline resonator, a conductor backed coplanar stripline resonator has been proposed which has the unloaded Q of 170.

A novel low profile piezoelectric linear motor has been presented. The motor consists of the piezoelectric actuator and moving element. The piezoelectric actuator includes the piezoelectric transducers and connecting tip. The transducer has been design to have a flexural vibration mode, which is generated by the piezoelectric ceramic and metal joint plate. The ultrasonic electrical signals with 90 degree phase difference are applied to the transducer, and the connecting tip moves with an elliptical motion from the combination of the individual transducer's deformation. A linear movement can be easily obtained using the elliptical motion. In this paper, the piezoelectric actuator has been intensively simulated using ATILA to achieve an optimized elliptical motion of it.
LTCC 를 이용한 SnO<sub>2</sub> 가스 센서

A sensor element array for combinatorial solution deposition research was fabricated using LTCC (Low-temperature Co-fired Ceramics). The designed LTCC was co-fired at $800^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour after lamination at $70^{\circ}C$ under 3000 psi for 30 minutes. $SnO_2$ sol was prepared by a hydrothermal method at $200^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours. Tin chloride and ammonium carbonate were used as raw materials and the ammonia solution was added to a Teflon jar. 20 droplets of $SnO_2$ sol were deposited onto a LTCC sensor element and this was heat treated at $600^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours. The gas sensitivity ($S\;=\;R_a/R_g$) values of the $SnO_2$ sensor and 0.04 wt% Pd-added $SnO_2$ sensor were measured. The 0.04 wt% Pd-added $SnO_2$ sensor showed higher sensitivity (S = 8.1) compared to the $SnO_2$ sensor (S = 5.95) to 200 ppm $CH_3COCH_3$ at $400^{\circ}C$.
다양한 기판위에 증착된 BST 박막의 열처리 온도에 따른 마이크로파 유전성질과 미세구조 변화

The dielectric properties of $(Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5})TiO_3$ ferroelectric thin films have been investigated according to the substrates in order to optimize the their properties. MgO, r-plane sapphire, and poly-crystalline sapphire (Alumina) substrates have been used to deposite $(Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5})TiO_3$ ferroelectric thin films by RF magnetron sputtering. The BST thin films deposited on the single crystal (100)MgO substrates have high tunability and low dielectric loss. These results are caused by a low misfit between the lattice parameters of the BST films and the substrate. The BST films deposited on r-plane sapphire have relatively high misfit, and the tunability of 17% and dielectric loss of 0.0007. To improve the dielectric properties of the BST films, the post-annealing methods has been introduced. The BST films deposited on (100)MgO, (1102)r-plane sapphire, and poly-crystalline sapphire substrates have best properties in post-annealing conditions of $1050^{\circ}C$, $1100^{\circ}C$, and $1150^{\circ}C$, respectively. The different optimal post-annealing conditions have been found according to the different misfits between the films and substrates, and thermal expansion coefficients. Moreover, the films deposited on alumina substrate which is relatively cheap have a good tunability properties of 23% by the post-annealing.
IMT-2000용 초소헝 적층형 대역 통과 칩 필터 설계 및 제작

BiN $b_{0.975}$S $b_{0.025}$ $O_4$저온 동시 소결 세라믹 후막 및 적층 세라믹(Multi-Layer Ceramic, MLC) 공정 기술을 이용한 소형 마이크로파 필터를 설계 및 제작하였다. MLC 칩 대역 통과 필터(BPF)는 소형화와 낮은 가격이라는 장점을 가지고 있다. 제안된 필터는 stripline 공진기와 결합 캐패시터로 구성되며, IMT-2000용 단말기의 수신단 통과 대역에 적합하며 통과 대역 아래쪽 저지 대역에 감쇠극이 형성되도록 설계하였다. 상용 마이크로파 회로 및 구조 설계 tool를 이용하여 제안된 MLC칩 대역 통과 필터의 공진기 전자기적 결합량 변화 및 결합 캐패시턴스에 따른 필터의 주파수 특성, 특히 감쇠극의 위치 변화에 대해 살펴보았다. 제작된 MLC 칩 BPF의 주파수 특성은 시뮬레이션 결과와 매우 일치하였다. A Multi-Layer Ceramic (MLC) chip type Band-Pass Filter (BPF) using BiNb$\_$0.975/Sb$\_$0.025/ $O_4$ LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics) and MLC processing is presented. The MLC chip BPF has the benefits of low cost and small size. The BPF consists of coupled stripline resonators and coupling capacitors. The BPF is designed to have an attenuation pole at below the passband for a receiver band of IMT-2000 handset. The computer-aided design technology is applied for analysis of the BPF frequency characteristics. The attenuation pole depends on the coupling between resonators and the coupling capacitance. An equivalent circuit and structure of MLC chip BPF are proposed. The frequency characteristics of the manufactured BPF is well acceptable for IMT-2000 application.
불순물 첨가에 따른 VO2 후막 급변온도센서의 온도-저항 특성

For various additives doped-VO2 critical temperature sensors using the nature of semiconductor to metal transition, the crystallinity, microstructure, and temperature vs. resistance characteristics were systematically investigated. As a starting material of VO2 sensor, vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) powders were used, and CaO, SrO, Bi2O3, TiO2, and PbO dopants were used, respectively. The V2O5 powders with dopants were mixed with a vehicle to form paste. This paste was silk screen-printed on Al2O3 substrates and then V2O5-based thick films were heat-treated at 500oC for 2 hours in N2 gas atmosphere for the reduction to VO2. From X-ray diffraction analysis, VO2 phases for pure VO2, and CaO and SrO-doped VO2 thick films were confirmed and their grain sizes were 0.57 to 0.59 μm. The on/off resistance ratio of the VO2 sensor in phase transition temperature range was 5.3×103 and that of the 0.5 wt.% CaO-doped VO2 sensor was 5.46×103. The presented critical temperature sensors could be commercialized for fire-protection and control systems.
