Under the pressure to open the service market as proposed by World Trade Organization, we can easily expect our educational systems for allied health professions will experience a lot of changes in near future. Accordingly, we compared our current educational systems for allied health professions with the foreign ones and mapped out some strategies predicting the forthcoming enormous changes. Major investigations and analysis are summed up as follows, The educational programs for allied health professions which was started in 1963 in Korea are stilled remained as 2 to 3 school years, while the systems in advanced countries have already been changed or been changing from 2 year to 4 year college levels. We can hardly find the uniform educational system or school years for the allied health professions in the world except for Korea. Fortunately, university level four-year programs for the profession was established in 1979 in Won-joo for the first time in Korea. However, there are still only few four-year programs in this country. To meet the rapidly changing needs we have faced in the health areas we should supply appropriate health personnel through various efforts. Now we would like to suggest followings, <Educational goals for the allied health professions> 1) reconfirming characteristics for the educational goals of health professions 2) extending school years for the allied health professions 3) strengthening clinical training and internship 4) expanding opportunities for the continuing education through lifelong education 5) upgrading from old-fashioned technologies to advanced technologies 6) cultivating competencies of health professionals for the global competition <Suggestions for the Development of Allied Health Professions> 1) reforming the school years of educational programs for the allied health professions to meet the global standards 2) expanding the role of junior college programs for the allied health professions through the development of intensive courses in the professions. 3) diversifying and specializing the allied health professions mainly through 4 year B.S. degree programs.

Both pattern of water use and pollutant load were investigated in the apartment area for the middle class of a new town. Especially the analysis of the effect of saving water under public information of saving water was used to search possible quantities of saving water. The results of this survey showed that each household had 3.84 persons with water use rate of 262 L/capitaㆍd on an average. The average domestic loading for COD, BOD, SS, T-N and T-P were 107.5, 49.5, 50.1, 7.7 and 1.6 g/capitaㆍd, respectively. Water used by residential households consists of water for washing clothes, toilets, bath, showers, kitchen, washing up and sweeping. Among above sources toilet water (26%) occupied the largest component of residential water use. Also the reduction of total water use was 12.3% by public information of saving water.
An Analysis of the Quality of Repeated Plate Load Tests Using the Harmony Search Algorithm

<P>We report a characteristic function to determine whether repetitive static plate load test (RSPLT) moduli are within an acceptable quality range, based on a comparison between the initial loading values and reloading moduli. The results of RSPLTs depend on the experience and expertise of the engineer carrying out the test, as well as the loading device, hydraulic jack assembly, and bearing plates. To identify outlier data points, well-tested data were used to develop a characteristic function model using a harmony search algorithm error minimization technique. This measure was applied to determine the reliability of RSPLT data.</P>

Tumoral calcinosis (TC) is a condition resulting from extensive calcium phosphate precipitation, primarily in the periarticular tissues around major joints. Calciphylaxis is a fatal ischemic vasculopathy mainly affecting dermal blood vessels and subcutaneous fat. This syndrome is rare and predominantly occurs in patients with end-stage renal disease. Here, we report on a rare case involving a patient with TC complicated with calciphylaxis. Our patient was a 31-year-old man undergoing hemodialysis who presented with masses on both shoulders and necrotic cutaneous ulcers, which were associated with secondary hyperparathyroidism, on his lower legs. He underwent subtotal parathyroidectomy, and sodium thiosulfate (STS) was administered for 27 weeks. Twenty months after beginning the STS treatment course, he experienced dramatic relief of his TC and calciphylaxis.
P-y Curve for Weathered Rock-I (Model Development)

In order to develop P-y curves in weathered rock, three complementary phases of work have been followed. The first phase involves Finite Element Method (F.E.M.) modeling using the ABAQUS computer program for 3-dimensional analytical modeling ofresistance media forms, the second phase is laboratory work to model the characteristics of P-y curves in simulated material, and thethird phase is field testing using full scale shafts to develop and verify P-y curves in weathered rock. Each of three phases of work isdescribed in this paper. A hyperbolic function is proposed to be P-y curve model for weathered rock with two parameters, thesubgrade modulus (kh) and the ultimate resistance (Pult). In this paper, a new concept of the point of rotation is developed as a part oftu rockdilatometer is demonstrated.

국내 건설공사의 발전과 건축물의 대형화 등의 성장으로 인해 그 동안 사용되었던 천연골재 (하상, 해상 등)가 고갈되어, 석산이 개발되고 현장에서 시공 중 발생하는 발생암, 즉 쇄석 골재가 대체 골재로서 사용되고 있다. 한반도 지질의 대부분을 차지하는 화강암류 및 편마암류를 제외한 일부 지역, 즉 강원도 동남부의 영월·정선·태백과 충북의 제천·단양, 경북의 문경 등에서는 석회암이 기반암으로 분포한다. 위 지역은 암석의 특성상 물에 의한 용해와 화학적 풍화가 지층의 형성에 큰 영향을 준다. 본 연구에서는 현재 강원도 동남부 지역에서 철도의 노반 재료로 사용되고 있는 석회암의 쇄석 골재를 채취하여 여러가지 재료시험을 통해 품질상태를 확인하고, 이미 개발되어 사용하고 있는 석산재료의 품질 성적서를 종합하여 향후 현장에서 시공 중 발생되는 쇄석암이 철도 노반 재료로서 사용될 때의 적합성을 연구하고자 한다. Due to the growth of domestic construction projects and enlarging architectural scales, natural aggregate (riverbed deposits, seabed, etc.) are being depleted. As a result, rock quarries have been exploited and the crushed aggregates, which are generated during construction, are being used as an alternative aggregate. Whereas granite and gneiss constitute most of the Korean bedrock, limestone lies underneath some areas such as Yeongwol·Jeongseon·Taebaek of Gangwon-Do, Jecheon·Danyang of Chungcheongbuk- Do and Mungyeong of Gyeongsangbuk-Do. Owing to the nature of limestone, corrosion and chemical weathering have profound influence on the formation of the geological strata. The purpose of this study is to test the quality of the crushed limestone aggregates being utilized as railroad roadbed materials in southeast Gangwon-Do through material-testing; and to examine the suitability of crushed aggregates as railroad roadbed material by putting together various material-certifications on quarry blasted rocks.
