      • Diagnostic Significance of Combined Detection of Epstein-Barr Virus Antibodies, VCA/IgA, EA/IgA, Rta/IgG and EBNA1/IgA for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

        Cai, Yong-Lin,Li, Jun,Lu, Ai-Ying,Zheng, Yu-Ming,Zhong, Wei-Ming,Wang, Wei,Gao, Jian-Quan,Zeng, Hong,Cheng, Ji-Ru,Tang, Min-Zhong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.5

The objective of this study was to investigate the diagnostic significance of EBV antibody combined detection for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in a high incidence region of southern China. Two hundred and eleven untreated NPC patients, 203 non-NPC ENT patients, and 210 healthy controls were recruited for the study. The titers of VCA/IgA and EA/IgA were assessed by immunoenzyme assay, and the levels of Rta/IgG and EBNA1/IgA were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The levels of VCA/IgA, EA/IgA, Rta/IgG and EBNA1/IgA demonstrated no association with gender or age (p>0.05). The receiver operating characteristic curve and the area under the curve were used to evaluate the diagnostic value. The sensitivity of VCA/IgA (98.1%) and the specificity of EA/IgA (98.5%) were the highest. When a logistic regression model was used to combine the results from multiple antibodies to increase the accuracy, the combination of VCA/IgA+Rta/IgG, whose area under the curve was 0.99, had the highest diagnostic efficiency, and its sensitivity, specificity and Youden index were 94.8%, 98.0% and 0.93 respectively. The data suggest that the combination of VCA/IgA+Rta/IgG may be most suitable for NPC serodiagnosis.

Gene microarray analysis revealed a potential crucial gene RACK1 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)

        Jian-Wei Zheng,Yinshen Yang,Shujuan Yang,Wei Zhou,Hongtian Qiu,Xiaoping Li,Qiuyun Cai,Ting Li,Gang Luo 한국통합생물학회 2018 Animal cells and systems Vol.22 No.2

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the sixth most common cancer worldwide, which appears as a consequence of multiple molecular genetic events in various chromosomes and genes. In order to unveil the possible mechanisms underlying OSCC tumorigenesis, the OSCC-related gene expression variance and the gene interaction network should be further investigated. Herein, we conducted the NimbleGen Human Gene Expression Microarray to analyze expression heterogeneity between OSCC primary tumor tissue and its adjacent normal tissue from two patients. A total number of 7872 out of 32,448 detected genes are differentially expressed in OSCC. Gene ontology (GO) analysis demonstrated that these differentially expressed transcripts were critical in a series of metabolic processes, cancer-related signal pathways, and biological regulations. KEGG signaling pathway enrichment suggested a number of pathways (metabolic process and immune response) which are frequently enrolled during cancer progression. 15 most differential regulated genes between OSCC tumor and non-tumor were confirmed by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Furthermore, the interaction network analysis of these confirmed genes by STRING database showed the two subunits of RACK1 had direct interaction with 14 differential proteins. This bioinformatics research lends support about the critical role of RACK1 which functions as a key node protein driving OSCC development.

      • Effects of Si on Microstructural Evolution and Mechanical Properties of Hot-rolled Ferrite and Bainite Dual-phase Steels

        Cai, Ming-hui,Ding, Hua,Lee, Young-kook,Tang, Zheng-you,Zhang, Jian-su The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan 2011 ISIJ international Vol.51 No.3

<P>Based on the thermo-mechanical controlled process, the effects of Si on microstructural evolution, tensile properties, impact toughness, and stretch-flangeability of ferrite and bainite dual-phase (FBDP) steels were systematically investigated. The addition of Si from 0 to 0.95% promoted the formation of fine and equiaxed ferrite grains, and high Si (0.95%) also resulted in the formation of blocky martensite islands and retained austenite. Yield and tensile strengths, and uniform and total elongations all increased with increasing Si content. Therefore, the tensile strength and ductility balance was improved by Si addition due to the increasing strain-hardening rate. The fractured morphologies after hole-expansion showed that the excellent stretch-flangeability of FBDP steels was associated with the micro-cracks propagating through in ferrite phase as well as the elongated ferrite grains along the direction perpendicular to the crack. 0.95% Si steel had a similar high combination of tensile strength and impact toughness to 0.55% Si steel, and especially 0.95% Si steel exhibited an excellent combination of tensile strength and stretch-flangeability.</P>

      • A Hybrid Attribute based RBAC Model

Ting Cai,Jian Zheng,Xing Du 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.9 No.7

In an open and distributed network, role-based access control (RBAC) model has the following deficiencies: Firstly, it is unable to provide flexible access control policy, and the granularity of authorization is too large. Secondly, the allocation and management of roles are too cumbersome, which leads to low efficiency of access control. To deal with these problems, we present a hybrid attribute based RBAC (HA-RBAC) model. In this paper, we deeply research the mapping relationships of roles and attributes, propose a combination of static-attribute-based roles and dynamic-attribute-based rules to simplify the management of access control policy and downsize the access control system, while we formally define the construction of HA-RBAC model and access control algorithm. Comparative analysis and simulation experiments show that this model can not only adapt to the role of fine-grained division and simplify policy management, but also improve the efficiency of access control, and reduce system consumption.

A successive ‘‘conversion-deposition” mechanism achieved by micro-crystalline Cu2O modified current collector for composite lithium anode

        Yifei Cai,Bin Qin,Chun Li,Xiaoqing Si,Jian Cao,Xiaohang Zheng,LIANG QIAO,Junlei Qi 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.120 No.-

Lithium (Li) metal is a promising material for high-energy–density batteries, but it is still plagued byobvious capacity degradation and low average Coulombic efficiency resulting from dendrite Li propagation. One main reason is the electro-mechanic coupled failure of plated Li on the current collector, whichcontributes to non-dense Li deposition on the anode. Transition metal oxides (TMOs) with a conversiontypemechanism have been used directly as the anode materials for lithium ion batteries, which demonstratedbetter electro-mechanical stability than metal Li. Herein, a successive ’’conversion-deposition’’mechanism is ingeniously developed to restrain the generation of dendritic Li. Specifically, a microcrystallineCu2O modified current collector was prepared, in which Li+ are sequentially inserted intoCu2O and deposited in the form of Li metal at successive low potential. A Li-Cu half-cell based on thehybrid mechanism sustains a high Coulombic efficiency of over 99.3 % in up to 800 cycles. This work ingeniouslyinhibits the generation of dendrite Li by incorporating conversion-type materials withdeposition-dissolution type metal Li, which contributes to a novel concept for the design of functionalcurrent collectors for composite Li anodes.

      • Time Trends of Esophageal Cancer Mortality in Linzhou City During the Period 1988-2010 and a Bayesian Approach Projection for 2020

        Liu, Shu-Zheng,Zhang, Fang,Quan, Pei-Liang,Lu, Jian-Bang,Liu, Zhi-Cai,Sun, Xi-Bin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.9

In recent decades, decreasing trends in esophageal cancer mortality have been observed across China. We here describe esophageal cancer mortality trends in Linzhou city, a high-incidence region of esophageal cancer in China, during 1988-2010 and make a esophageal cancer mortality projection in the period 2011-2020 using a Bayesian approach. Age standardized mortality rates were estimated by direct standardization to the World population structure in 1985. A Bayesian age-period-cohort (BAPC) analysis was carried out in order to investigate the effect of the age, period and birth cohort on esophageal cancer mortality in Linzhou during 1988-2010 and to estimate future trends for the period 2011-2020. Age-adjusted rates for men and women decreased from 1988 to 2005 and changed little thereafter. Risk increased from 30 years of age until the very elderly. Period effects showed little variation in risk throughout 1988-2010. In contrast, a cohort effect showed risk decreased greatly in later cohorts. Forecasting, based on BAPC modeling, resulted in a increasing burden of mortality and a decreasing age standardized mortality rate of esophageal cancer in Linzhou city. The decrease of esophageal cancer mortality risk since the 1930 cohort could be attributable to the improvements of socialeconomic environment and lifestyle. The standardized mortality rates of esophageal cancer should decrease continually. The effect of aging on the population could explain the increase in esophageal mortality projected for 2020.

Profiling Gene Expression During Gland Morphogenesis of a Glanded and a Glandless Upland Cotton

        Ying-Fan Cai,Min Chen,Quan Sun,Yong-Fang Xie,Sheng-Wei Li,Jian-Chuan Mo,Ming-Feng Jiang,You-Lu Yuan,Yu-Zhen Shi,Huai-Zhong Jiang,Zheng Pan,Yun-Ling Gao,Peng-Sheng Ye,Hua-Lan Zeng 한국식물학회 2009 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.52 No.6

The pigment gland is an important character of the Gossypium plant. With the aim of identifying genes involved in pigment gland morphogenesis in cotton, gene expression during pigment gland morphogenesis in Chuan 2802, which is glanded both in seed and plant, and a glandless line N5 was profiled using Affymetrix Cotton microarray. The results showed that there were 564 differentially expressed genes greater than twofold during gland morphogenesis. About 60.2% of these genes shares similarity with known genes on GenBank and about 39.8% with no functional description in the database. These described genes may play roles in defense response, response to oxidative stress, peroxidase activity, and the other metabolic pathways. The KEGG Orthology-Based Annotation System indicated that these above twofold expressed genes involved seven biochemical pathways on KEGG. These findings suggest that a complicated regulation is associated with pigment gland morphogenesis and the associated defense response including gossypol biosynthesis in cotton.

Evaluation of Liver Metastases Using Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound: Enhancement Patterns and Influencing Factors

( Wen Tao Kong ),( Zheng Biao Ji ),( Wen Ping Wang ),( Hao Cai ),( Bei Jian Huang ),( Hong Ding ) 대한소화기학회 2016 Gut and Liver Vol.10 No.2

Background/Aims: To evaluate the enhancement patterns of liver metastases and their influencing factors using dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS). Methods: A total of 240 patients (139 male and 101 female; 58.5±11.2 years of age) diagnosed with liver metastases in our hospital were enrolled in this study to evaluate tumor characteristics using CEUS. A comparison of enhancement patterns with tumor size and primary tumor type was performed using the chi-square test. The differences between quantitative variables were evaluated with the independent-sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance. Results: The enhancement patterns of liver metastases on CEUS were categorized as diffuse homogeneous hyperenhancement (133/240, 55.4%), rim-like hyperenhancement (80/240, 33.3%), heterogeneous hyperenhancement (10/240, 4.2%), and isoenhancement (17/240, 7.1%). There were significant differences in the enhancement patterns during the arterial phase based on the nodule size (p=0.001). A total of 231 of the nodules showed complete washout during the portal phase, and 237 nodules were hypoenhanced during the delayed phase. The washout time was correlated with tumor vascularity, with a longer washout time observed in hypervascular metastases compared to hypovascular metastases (p=0.033). Conclusions: Diffuse homogeneous hyperenhancement followed by rapid washout was the most common enhancement pattern of liver metastases on CEUS and was affected by the nodule size and tumor vascularity. Small metastases were prone to show diffuse homogeneous hyperenhancement. Hypervascular metastases showed a significantly longer washout time compared to hypovascular metastases. Association Between Dyadic Coping and Quality of Life in Breast Cancer Patients and Their Spouses: An Actor-partner Interdependence Mediation Model

        Chen Wei,Li Hui,Cai Jian-Zheng,Qin Nan 한국간호과학회 2024 Asian Nursing Research Vol.18 No.1

Purpose This study aims to examine the relationship between dyadic coping (DC), intimate relationship, and quality of life (QOL), and to explore the mediating role of intimate relationship in patients with breast cancer (BC) and their spouses from a dyadic perspective. Methods A cross-sectional design was used in this present study, and 205 dyads of BC patients and their spouses who completed a sociodemographic and clinical questionnaire and self-reported measures assessing their DC, intimate relationship, and QOL were recruited. The actor-partner interdependence mediation model (APIMeM) was adopted for dyadic distinguished data analysis. The paired t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and the structural equation model were employed for data analysis by using SPSS 22.0 and Amos 24.0. Results The current study revealed that, for BC patients and their spouses, intimate relationship mediates completely the actor effect of DC on QOL. That is to say, DC was positively related to intimate relationship and then improved QOL. It was interesting to find that, for both patients and their spouses, the intimate relationship could exert a partner-actor complete mediation effect between DC and QOL. Conclusions The DC perceived by both BC patients and their spouses has significant actor effects on QOL by improving the level of an intimate relationship. Furthermore, intimate relationship has significant actor-actor and partner-actor complete mediation effects for both patients and their spouses. Given the vital role of patient-spouse dyads, nursing staff should take patients’ spouses into account when conducting related psychosocial interventions aiming to improve the QOL of BC patients and their spouses.

      • Expression of Cytoplasmic 8-oxo-Gsn and MTH1 Correlates with Pathological Grading in Human Gastric Cancer

Song, Wen-Jie,Jiang, Ping,Cai, Jian-Ping,Zheng, Zhi-Qiang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.15

Background: Cancers have dysfunctional redox regulation resulting in production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), damaging DNA, RNA and free NTPs, and causing the accumulation of oxidative nucleic acids in cytoplasm. The major types are 8-oxo-7,8-dihydroguanine(8-oxoGsn) in RNA and 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2' deoxyguanosine(8-oxodGsn) in Mt-DNA. The MTH1 protein sanitizes oxidized nucleotide pools from NTPs to monophosphates, preventing the occurrence of transversion mutations. This study concerned cytoplasmic 8-oxodGsn/Gsn and MTH1 expression in gastric cancer and para-cancer tissues and elucidated roles of nucleic-acid oxidation and anti-oxidation. Materials and Methods: A polymer HRP detection system was used to detect 8-oxo-Gsn/dGsn and MTH1 expression in 51 gastric cancer and para-cancer tissue samples. Analyses of patient clinical and pathological data were also performed. Results: The expression of MTH1 and the 8-oxo-dGsn/Gsn ratio were significantly higher in cancer tissues than para-cancer tissues (P<0.05). Cytoplasmic 8-oxo-Gsn and MTH1 were both found to positively correlate (P<0.05) with tumor differentiation, while no significant associations were found with gender, age, invasion depth, lymph node metastasis and clinical stage (P>0.05). Conclusions: We found 8-oxo-dGsn/Gsn and MTH1 are both highly expressed in gastric cancer tissues, especially in well differentiated lesions. In addition, oxidated mtDNA is prevalently expressed in gastric cancers, while 8-oxo-Gsn expression in cytoplasmic RNA is a bit lower, but more selectively.
