        Aqueous processing of Li1.075Nb0.625Ti0.45O3 green tapes

        An aqueous tape casting of Li1.075Nb0.625Ti0.45O3 (LNT) ceramics was developed using PCA-NH4 as dispersant, PVA as binder and EG as plasticizer. Flexible, defect-free and smooth tapes of LNT were successfully produced. The study focused on obtaining the optimum slurry formulations and on the effects of the processing parameters such as the stability, the rheology on the properties on the tape characteristics. Surface properties of LNT powders in the aqueous suspensions are distinctly influenced by PCA-NH4. The zeta potential measurement showed that the isoelectric point (IEP) of LNT powders in the absence of dispersant corresponds to a pH value of 3.7. The zeta potential values (absolute values) increased with the amount of dispersant and up to its maximum near pH 9-10. The rheology measurements of all the slurries investigated showed the desired shear thinning behavior, indicating that the LNT slurry was homogenous and well stabilized. An optimum formulation for the tape was investigated and it was shown that a high solid loading (50 wt%) would lead to a high relative green density (46.7%). Homogenous, smooth, and defect-free green tapes were successfully obtained by an appropriate slurry formula.

        Synthesis and Solution Properties of Zwitterionic Copolymer of Acrylamide with 3-[(2-Acrylamido)dimethylammonio]propanesulfonate

        A novel zwitterionic monomer 3-[(2-acrylamido)dimethylammonio]propanesulfonate (DMADAS) was designed and synthesized in this study. Then it was polymerized with acrylamide (AM) by free radical polymerization in 0.5 mol/L NaCl solution with ammonium persulfate ((NH4)2S2O8) and sodium sulfate (NaHSO3) as initiator. The structure and composition of DMADAS and acrylamide-3-[(2-acrylamido)- dimethylammonio]propanesulfonate copolymer (P-AM-DMADAS) were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, 1H NMR and elemental analyses. Isoelectric point (IEP) of P-AM-DMADAS was tested by nanoparticle size and potential analyzer. Solution properties of copolymer were studied by reduced viscosity. Antipolyelectrolyte behavior was observed and was found to be enhanced with increasing DMADAS content in copolymer. The results showed that the viscosity of P-AM-DMADAS is 5.472 dl/g in pure water. Electrolyte was added, which weakened the mutual attraction between sulfonic acid group and quaternary ammonium group. The conformation became loose, which led to the increase of reduced viscosity. The ability of monovalent and divalent cation influencing the viscosity of zwitterionic copolymer obeyed the following sequence: Li+ < Na+ < K+, Mg2+ < Ca2+ < Ba2+, and that of anion is in the order: Cl− < Br− < I−, CO3 2− > SO3 2− ≈ SO4 2−.

        Production of a Recombinant Laccase from Pichia pastoris and Biodegradation of Chlorpyrifos in a Laccase/Vanillin System

        The recombinant strain P. pastoris GS115-lccC was used to produce laccase with high activity. Factors influencing laccase expression, such as pH, methanol concentration, copper concentration, peptone concentration, shaker rotate speed, and medium volume were investigated. Under the optimal conditions, laccase activity reached 12,344 U/L on day 15. The recombinant enzyme was purified by precipitating and dialyzing to electrophoretic homogeneity, and was estimated to have a molecular mass of about 58 kDa. When guaiacol was the substrate, the laccase showed the highest activity at pH 5.0 and was stable when the pH was 4.5~6.0. The optimal temperature for the laccase to oxidize guaiacol was 60℃, but it was not stable at high temperature. The enzyme could remain stable at 30℃ for 5 days. The recombinant laccase was used to degrade chlorpyrifos in several laccase/mediator systems. Among three synthetic mediators (ABTS, HBT, VA) and three natural mediators (vanillin, 2,6-DMP, and guaiacol), vanillin showed the most enhancement on degradation of chlorpyrifos. Both laccase and vanillin were responsible for the degradation of chlorpyrifos. A higher dosage of vanillin may promote a higher level of degradation of chlorpyrifos, and the 2-step addition of vanillin led to 98% chlorpyrifos degradation. The degradation of chlorpyrifos was faster in the L/V system (kobs = 0.151) than that in the buffer solution (kobs = 0.028).

        Huang Daozhou (15851646), a great scholar in the Ming Dynasty, styled Youping, nicknamed You Chi, known as Mr. Shizhai, was from Zhangpu (now Fujian). Xuezong Zhuzi has developed again, and in politics, he and Zhuzi both advocated fighting against aliens. In the first year of Longwu in the Ming Dynasty (1645), Huang Daozhou was captured while fighting against the Qing Dynasty. In the face of surrender, he insisted on “do not die, take danger like a barbarian; if you fall from the sky, give your life unswervingly”, and finally died in Jinling. Emperor Longwu specially bestowed the posthumous title of Zhonglie as a gift to Uncle Wen, and set up Minzhong Temple for him in Fuzhou, and Baozhong Temple in Zhangpu, and offered sacrifices in spring and autumn. In the early Qing Dynasty, the Fujian people revered their loyalty and righteousness, worshipped and honored Huang Daozhou as “General Assistant to Shun”. Wanhua, Danshui, and Wugu all belong to the General Zhushun Temple. Although the identity of the main worshipers is different from the Ming Confucian Huang Daozhou and the three generals of the Huangfu, the inscriptions in the three temples all indicate that General Zhushun is Huang Daozhou. It is even said that in order to avoid the Qing court, the name of the three generals of the Yellow House is faked: For example, in Wanhua Jinde Palace, according to the stone tablet in front of the temple, “General Zhushuns Brief Biography”, General Zhushun is Huang Daozhou. In the middle of the Qianlong period, an immigrant surnamed Huang from Quanzhou came to Taiwan from Hui’an Fengling. First, a small temple was built in the middle of Zhuwei Lane in Mengka. The big temple was built during the Tongzhi period. After that, it suffered many calamities. After that, the old temple was rebuilt and it became the scale it is today. The General Zhushun Temple in Danshui, also known as General Zhushun Temple and Jinde Palace, is located in Changgengli. It was originally worshiped by residents in Houjiezai, Huwei. Repair. In the temple, “Reconstruction of the Stele of General Zhushun Temple in Tamsui” clearly states that the object of worship in General Zhushun Temple is Ming Confucian Huang Daozhou. According to the inscription “General’s Strategy” in the Temple of General Zhushun in Wugu District, the General Zhushun Temple at No. 108, Fudli Denglin Road, Wugu District, was founded by local gentry Wang Zhengji and Chen in the fifty-seventh year of the Republic of China (1968). Fusheng, Huang Changan, Liu Chunche and others initiated donations to build the temple. On September 14 of the lunar calendar of the same year, they followed the instructions of General Zhushun to choose a site to build the temple. Later, the temple was registered on March 1, 1987, and it was named “General Zhushun Temple”. Huang Daozhou’s people are all loyal and filial, and they are respected as generals who help Shun. They are from people to gods. It can be seen that morality and friendship are highly respected by the people. It is also related to the Qing courts attitude towards Huang Daozhou and the special historical atmosphere at that time, which has the connotation of the times.

        This paper presents the tensile behavior of the stud connection between reinforced concrete(RC) and steel members. Hanger reinforcements are placed around the studs to transfer the tensile loads to the opposite side of the concrete member. Six specimens, of which variables were arrangement details of hanger reinforcements and studs. Tensile test results show that hanger reinforcements are effective to increase tensile strength and ductility. Test tensile strengths of specimens are compared with the nominal strengths by ACI codes(ACI 318-02, ACI 349-99) and PCI 1999.

        Evidence for the medicinal value of Squama Manitis (pangolin scale): A systematic review

        Background: Squama Manitis (pangolin scale) has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. However, its efficacy has not been systematically reviewed. This review aims to fill the gap. Methods: We searched six electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database (CNKI), WanFang Database and SinoMed from inception to May 1, 2020. Search terms included “pangolin”, “Squama Manitis”, “Manis crassicaudata”, “Manis javanica”, “Malayan pangolins”, “Manis pentadactyla”, “Ling Li”, “Chuan Shan Jia”, “Shan Jia”, “Pao Jia Zhu”, “Jia Pian” and “Pao Shan Jia”. The Cochrane Risk of Bias (RoB) assessment tool and Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) were used to evaluate the risk of bias of the included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and case control studies (CCSs). Results: After screening, 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria were finally included. There were 4 randomized controlled trials, 1 case control study, 3 case series and 7 case reports. A total of 15 different diseases were reported in these studies, thus the data could not be merged to generate powerful results. Two RCTs suggested that Squama Manitis combined with herbal decoction or antibiotics could bring additional benifit for treating postpartum hypogalactia and mesenteric lymphadenitis. However, this result was not reliable due to low methodological quality and irrational outcomes. The other two RCTs generated negative results. All the non-RCTs did not add any valuable evidence to the efficacy of Squama Manitis beacause of small samples, incomplete records, non-standardized outcome detection. In general, currently available evidence cannot support the clinical use of Squama Manitis. Conclusion: There is no reliable evidence that Squama Manitis has special medicinal value. The removal of Squama Manitis from Pharmacopoeia is rational.

        Phthalocyanines as medicinal photosensitizers: Developments in the last five years

        High-performance solid-state flexible supercapacitor based on reduced graphene oxide/hierarchical core-shell Ag nanowire@NiAl layered double hydroxide film electrode

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>All-solid-state flexible supercapacitor (AFSC) is a promising energy storage device due to its high flexibility, security, and environmental friendliness. However, high electrical resistance and low specific capacitance of electrodes limit its application for potential portable electronic devices. In this study, we design a novel hybrid film electrode composed of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/silver nanowire (Ag NW)@nickel aluminum layered double hydroxide (NiAl LDH; herein, GAL) possessing high electrochemical performance by using hydrothermal and vacuum filtration techniques. The Ag NW@NiAl LDH (AL) composites with hierarchical core-shell structure are utilized to increase electroactive surface area and improve electrical conductivity, while the rGO nanosheets serve as a prominent carbon material with outstanding electrical conductivity and mechanical flexibility. The freestanding GAL electrode shows high specific capacitance of 1148 F g<SUP>−1</SUP> at 1 A g<SUP>−1</SUP> compared with rGO/NiAl LDH (GL) of 765.2 F g<SUP>−1</SUP> at 1 A g<SUP>−1</SUP>. Furthermore, the bind-free symmetric AFSC device is successfully prepared using GAL hybrid film as electrodes and PVA-KOH as solid-state gel electrolyte. The GAL//GAL AFSC device delivers a superior specific capacitance of 127.2 F g<SUP>−1</SUP> at 1 A g<SUP>−1</SUP>, a high energy density of 35.75 mWh cm<SUP>−3</SUP> at a power density of 1.01 W cm<SUP>−3</SUP>, and great cycling ability of 83.2% over 10,000 cycles at 5 A g<SUP>−1</SUP>.       • User-expected price-based demand response algorithm for a home-to-grid system

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Demand response algorithms can cut peak energy use, driving energy conservation and enabling renewable energy sources, as well as reducing greenhouse-gas emissions. The use of these technologies is becoming increasingly popular, especially in smart-grid scenarios. We describe a home-to-grid demand response algorithm, which introduces a UEP (“user-expected price”) as an indicator of differential pricing in dynamic domestic electricity tariffs, and exploits the modern smart-grid infrastructure to respond to these dynamic pricing structures. By comparing the UEP with real-time utility price data, the algorithm can discriminate high-price hours and low-price hours, and automatically schedule the operation of home appliances, as well as control an energy-storage system to store surplus energy during low-price hours for consumption during high-price hours. The algorithm uses an exponential smoothing model to predict the required energy of appliances, and uses Bayes' theorem to calculate the probability that appliances will demand power at a given time based on historic energy-usage data. Simulation results using pricing structures from the Ameren Illinois power company show that the proposed algorithm can significantly reduce or even eliminate peak-hour energy consumption, leading to a reduction in the overall domestic energy costs of up to 39%.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Introduce a UEP (“user-expected price”) as an indicator of differential pricing in dynamic domestic electricity tariffs. </LI> <LI> Discriminate high-price hours and low-price hours, and automatically schedule the operation of home appliances. </LI> <LI> Control an energy-storage system to store surplus energy during low-price hours for consumption during high-price hours. </LI> <LI> Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly reduce or even eliminate peak-hour energy consumption. </LI> </UL> </P>
