This paper is a part of research to develop convenient method for continuous monitoring of blood pressure by non-invasive way. The arterial blood pressure has been known as one of the most important medical factors reflecting the state of the cardiovascular system. A useful and convenient parameters for continuous monitoring of blood pressure(BP) is the pulse wave velocity(PWV) or the pulse wave transit time(PWTT) between two different regions of artery. In this paper, PWTT to the toes and fingers of 14 normotensive male subjects were obtained from PPG and ECG. The PWTTs that from heart to fingertip(T1, T4), to toe point(T2, T5) and from fingertip to toe point(T3, T6) are analyzed with BP parameters(SYS, DIA, MAP, and Beat) by regression method. As the results, the correlation coefficients were showed as -0.60 in the T2 and MAP. -0.57 in the T2 and DIA.

In this paper, we study about drowsy alarming parameters for car drivers by HRV analysis. We devised PDA based bioelectric signal logging and HRV processing systems for the drowsy parameters derive. For the experiments, we take's 10 healthy person's PPG signals by using devised system. As the results of HRV analysis, we can see the LF/HF ratio of drowsy states are decreasing trend that of awake states for 9 subjects excepts for 1 subject.

By Oriental medicine, slow respiration is related to Han, fast respiration is related to Yeul. We devised a system which can detect slow respiration, fast respiration, and restful respiration patterns. This system present the subject respiration patterns to user and then, user follow the subjected patterns for respiration adaptation. We used HRV of PPG to analyze the effect of respiration. The results of experiment, the devised system are very adaptive to the purpose.
PDA 기반의 휴대용 광전식 용적맥파 계측 시스템 개발

In this paper, we implement a portable photo- plethysmography(PPG) measurement system using PDA. The developed system is composed of sensor unit, signal acquisition unit, and PDA. The sensor unit consists of photo transducer and detects the volume pulse at finger tip capillary. The signal aquisition unit includes signal processing part, A/D convertor, and 8051 based microcontroller. After analog signal processing, the volume pulse is converted to 12 bit data by A/D convertor. PDA displays and stores the l2bit data transmitted from 8051 based microcontroller.

As medical technology develops and the interest of health increases, diagnostic study for diseases and development of medical treatments are actively progressing. However, development of oriental diagnosis equipments leave much too be desired. In this paper, we developed a system to objectify mac-I in on this score. The RSP signals are detected by using a thermistor which detects temperature variation of nasal air flows, the PPG signals are detected by using reflected volume of light through transmitting light at the blood vessel, and EEG signals are detected by using disposable Ag-AgC1 electrode. Besides we classified frequency components of EEG signal through acquired signals, we measured the number of pulse per one respiration. In this study, as the result of experimets among subjects using the developed system, we could acquire proper waveforms of biomedical signals to detect the number of pulse per one respiration.

Glucosinolate (GSL) and antioxidant activity in 62 varieties of Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa L. ssp. pekinensis) were determined by HPLC and DPPH, HRSA, and FRAP assays. Five aliphatic GSLs: progoitrin, sinigrin, glucoalyssin, gluconapin, and glucobrassicanapin; four indolyl GSLs: 4-hydroxyglucobrassicin, glucobrassicin, 4-methoxyglucobrassicin, and neoglucobrassicin; one aromatic GSL: gluconasturtiin were identified. Glucobrassicanapin and gluconapin documented the most abundant (average 4.52 and 3.72 μmol/g DW, respectively). The contents of total GSLs varied extensively among 62 varieties (range from 2.83 to 48.53 μmol/g DW). Comprehensive differences in total and individual GSL contents have also been observed among different varieties. Indolyl and aromatic GSL together accounted 26% of the total GSLs; but there are few differences among varieties. FC7 and FI17 could be good candidates for future breeding programs since they had a high quantity of glucobrassicin (2.10 and 1.66 μmol/g DW, respectively). Most of the Chinese cabbage varieties showed significant antioxidant activities when compare with positive control. However, three antioxidant assays were not significantly correlated with total GSLs. The presence of significant quantities of glucobrassicin in some varieties should be studied more extensively, since GSL is the precursor of indole-3-carbinol, a potent anticancer isothiocyanate.

The distribution pattern of water quality parameters and phytoplankton biomass in upper inflow rivers of lake Paldang had surveyed. In North-Han river system, nutrient concentrations and algal biomass was below the standard of mesoand oligotrophy from lake Soyang to lake Paldang, maintaining good water quality, except the N5 site located near the Chuncheon-Si, showing high nutrients concentrations and algal biomass. The algal biomass of the South-Han river system showed oligotrophic level in the upstream near the lake Chungju, and increased along the flow direction showing eutrophic level in the downstream within the lake Paldang area. On the other hand, the highest concentrations of nutrients were detected in the middle stream near the Yeoju-Si and Yangpyung-Gun rather than in the downstream suggesting algal biomass in lake Paldang would not come from the upper river area but come from the growth within the lake area using nutrients from the upper inflow river.
