Corrosion properties of dissimilar friction stir welded 6061 aluminum and HT590 steel were investigated to understand effectsof galvanic corrosion. As cathode when coupled, HT590 was cathodically protected. However, the passivation of AA6061made the aluminum alloy cathode temporarily, which leaded to corrosion of HT590. From the EIS analysis showing Warburgdiffusion plot in Nyquist plots, it can be inferred that the stable passivation layer was formed on AA6061. However, the weldas well as HT590 did not show Warburg diffusion plot in Nyquist plots, suggesting that there was no barrier for corrosion oreven if it exists, the barrier had no function for preventing and/or retarding charge transport through the passivation layer. The open circuit potential measurements showed that the potential of the weld was similar to that of HT590, which lied inthe pitting region for AA6061, making the aluminum alloy part of the weld keep corrosion state. That resulted in the crackedoxide film on AA6061 of the weld, which could not play a role of corrosion barrier.

In this study is about application of knowledge based start model for die design of automotive body panel using CATIA V5. These days, the automobile industry required short development cycle because customers preference is rapidly changed. Its a reason for using start model. Die design with start model has many advantages, for example, short development cycle, low cost and low design errors, high quality and high productivity, etc. The die design with start model has 4 processes such as prepare design data, input data, replace input data to start model and design start with application of start model.

In this paper, a nonlinear one-dimensional finite element model is developed for the human arteries conveying pulsatile blood. The finite element model is formulated from the nonlinear one-dimensional governing equations for the human arteries represented by axially expandible elastic tubes. Various flow profiles are considered to numerically investigate the blood pressure and flow rate through an ascending aorta with slowly narrowing cross-section.

<P><B>Objectives</B></P><P>HG1 is an antimicrobial peptide derived from halocidin, which is naturally found in tunicates. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic potential of HG1 as a novel antifungal agent for treating oral candidiasis.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>The pharmacokinetic properties of HG1 were explored in mice, which were orally administered a single dose of HG1. Anti-<I>Candida</I> activity of HG1 was investigated in a time-dependent manner in the presence of saliva obtained from healthy donors or patients with oral candidiasis. In addition, HG1 was evaluated for its anti-<I>Candida</I> activity in the presence of proteins extracted from the culture supernatant of <I>Candida albicans</I>. The therapeutic potential <I>in vivo</I> and <I>ex vivo</I> of HG1 against oral candidiasis was investigated using a mouse model of oral candidiasis.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Our data showed that absorption of HG1 into the blood did not occur following oral administration. In addition, HG1 exerted marked anti-<I>Candida</I> activity after short-term incubation at a concentration of 20 mg/L and it also caused a considerable reduction in fungal burden in the oral candidiasis mouse model when treated with 1 mg or 0.5 mg.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>This study suggests that HG1, as a novel component of mouthwash, might become an alternative antifungal agent to conventional drugs used to manage oral candidiasis.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Corrosion behaviors of the friction welded dissimilar aluminum alloys were investigated to understand how galvanic effect plays a role in altering corrosion properties of the dissimilar weld. From the fact that the weld had the similar OCP value to that of AA2017, it can be inferred that the corrosion characteristics of the weld is under the control of the AA2017 part in the weld and as a result, only the AA2017 part in the weld had experienced severe corrosion, leaving AA6063 under cathodic protection. Intense corrosion occurring near the interface implies that the area near the interface is placed under the effect of galvanic corrosion and there was the effective distance where the galvanic effect exerts an impact due to the increase in the resistance of the electrolyte with the distance from the interface. The disappearance of Warburg diffusion plot in Nyquist plots for the weld seemed to be the breakdown of the passivation layer related to the formation of the micro-galvanic cell, which in turn presented the shrinkage in the capacitance response, indicating that charge reactions in the form of corrosion occurred.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Corrosion properties of friction welded dissimilar aluminum alloys seem to be governed by the anode part in the weld. </LI> <LI> Intense corrosion near the interface has the limited region due to insufficient ionic transport. </LI> <LI> Self-formation of a micro-galvanic cell is a main reason for the inferior corrosion performance. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical Abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

An free breathing proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) was developed. This paper presents a study of the several effect on the performance of a fuel cell such as air flow rate, opening ratio, and cathode structures. Especially, an air flow rate is critical condition to improve the fuel cell performance. In this paper, we developed a synthetic jet micro air blower to supply high stoichiometric air. The synthetic jet actuation is usually generated by a traditional PZT-driven actuator, which consists of a small cylindrical cavity, orifices and PZT diaphragms. In comparison with free convection fuel cells, the forced-convection fuel cell which equipped synthetic jet micro air blower brings higher performance and stability for long term test. Also, power consumption of the synthetic jet micro air blower is under 0.3W. The results show that the maximum power density was 188㎽/㎠ at 400㎃/cm2.The maximum power density was higher 40% than power density of free convection fuel cell.
High level of estradiol in a Holstein-Friesian cow with sacroiliac luxation after calving

This is the report of sacroiliac luxation in a Holstein-Friesian cow, describing the progression of the sacroiliac luxation from the onset of its development with changes in estradiol (E2) and serum chemistry. The high estrogen concentration was assumed to be a predisposing factor of the disease that relaxed the pelvic muscles and a secondary slippery finally caused the sacroiliac luxation. The E2 was present at levels four times higher in the cow with sacroiliac luxation (167 pg/mL) than in normal cows. Above normal levels of creatinine kinase, aspartate aminotransferase, and lactate dehydrogenase were also observed in cow with sacroiliac luxation.
