Brand Personality and Consumer Behavior for Laptop Purchases in Nepal

        Bharat RAI(Bharat RAI ),Rewan Kumar DAHAL(Rewan Kumar DAHAL ),Binod GHIMIRE(Binod GHIMIRE ) 한국유통과학회 2023 유통과학연구 Vol.21 No.4

Purpose: The study's objective was to examine the impact of brand personality dimensions on consumer behavior for laptop purchases in Nepal. Research Materials and Methods: The study included descriptive and explanatory research designs. A structured questionnaire with a purposive sampling method was employed to gather the necessary information for the study. The survey data were analyzed using a quantitative approach. The study used descriptive statistics to characterize the response conditions. Correlation analysis was used to investigate the relationship between brand personality dimensions and consumer behavior. Regression path analysis was employed to identify the effect of brand personality dimensions and consumer behavior. Results: The result of regression path analysis showed that the three dimensions - competency, ruggedness, and sophistication, have a significant effect on consumer behavior, and the two dimensions- sincerity and excitement do not have a substantial impact on consumer behavior in laptop buying in Nepal. Conclusions and Implications: Such findings can serve as pioneering empirical evidence and provide a framework for marketers and future studies in various scenarios. The study's findings can help marketing managers in handling information management. Manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers can also use the results in formulating marketing strategies, and marketers need to be aware of such considerations for influencing consumer behavior.

Modulation of Intracellular Protein Activity at Level of Protein Folding by Beta-turn Engineering

Bharat Madan,이선구 한국생물공학회 2014 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.19 No.3

Control of the intracellular protein activity is veryimportant in various biological studies and biotechnology. This has generally been achieved at the transcription andtranslation levels. Although control of the intracellularactivity at the protein folding level is conceptually possible, but there have been few studies. The present studyexamined this possibility by modulating the in vivo proteinfolding rate of green fluorescence protein (GFP) throughbeta-turn engineering. A type II’ two residue beta-turn inGFP was targeted to generate two sets of mutants. First, aswitch-off mutant was designed to stop the protein activitycompletely. The modulation mutants were then constructedto change the rates of GFP folding. The design of mutantswas based on the rationale that residues i+1 and i+2 of abeta-turn have defined residue preferences, and theirperturbation affects the rate of protein folding. The in vivofluorescence activity of the designed GFP variants wasswitched off and modulated as expected. The change in thein vivo folding patterns of the mutants was confirmed bySDS-PAGE and found to be similar to the intracellularfluorescence activities of the mutants. The in vitro refoldingkinetics performed with purified variants showed correlationswith the in vivo folding patterns. These results showed thatthe beta-turns in a protein can be a target for modulatingthe in vivo protein folding pattern and activity.

      • Inter-relationship between Museum and Cultural Heritage Tourism

Bharat Raj Rawat 세계문화관광학회 2008 Conference Proceedings Vol.9 No.0

Nepal is a country of diverse ethnicity, culture & heritage. In this context, we have to raise the standard of some Nepalese Museum to preserve the method of conservation and preservation of Nepalese tangible and intangible heritage as well as it has to change the educational centre instead of visual store room to their visitors. The cultural heritage of the Kathmandu Valley is illustration by seven groups of monuments and buildings which display the full range of historic and artistic achievements for which the Kathmandu Valley is world famous. The seven include the Durbar Squares of Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu), Patan and Bhaktapur, the Buddhist stupas of Swayambhu and Bauddhanath, and the Hindu temples of Pashupati and Changu Narayan. Beside that, Nepal, a rich country in the field of tangible and intangible heritage as diversity in various aspects as its geographical, cultural, food habit, dress, ornaments, music, musical instrument, languages, art objects and we do have very long history. We are in-between Geographical big size and shape countries China and India hence our heritage always came in shadow. We have ten world heritage sites listed by out of them; seven cultural heritage sites are located inside Kathmandu valley within the distance of 20 ㎞. Heritage and culture are the back bone and identity of man kind whether it may tangible or intangible although the geographical boundaries are set by politically yet we share the same earth. Each community has created its unique tangible and intangible heritage. Asia is the cradle of civilizations starting with the Mesopotamian the oldest civilization in the world followed by the Indus Valley civilization in India, civilization of Hohangho River in China and the Buddhist and Hindu sites in Nepal, Cambodia, Indonesia and Far East. The diversity in language, culture, religion, music and musical instruments, folk lore, arts, material way of life manifests in human heritage of immense value. Every community world over is loosing these cultural properties gradually because of the influences of westernization, industrialization, urbanization, globalization, tourism prostitution, cultural penetration, and language influences etc. In the quest of globalization and other radical changes in the life style and necessity of human kind-language, dresses, ornaments, musical instruments festivals are also slowly vanishing.

Impulse Buying Behavior in Distribution Centers of Kathmandu

Bharat RAI, Rewan Kumar DAHAL, Bhupendra Jung SHAHI, Binod GHIMIRE 한국유통과학회 2023 유통과학연구 Vol.21 No.5

Purpose: The study's primary objective was to pinpoint the variables impacting consumers' impulsive purchasing decisions in the distribution centers in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Research design, data, and methodology: The independent variables used to identify consumer impulse buying behavior were the in-store displays, store employee behavior, reference groups, and promotional activities. A 6-point Likert scale questionnaire was employed for collecting the primary data from customers at the retail center of Kathmandu. The study's sample size was 396, employing a convenient sampling method. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and Analysis of a Moment Structures (AMOS) have been used to show the relationships between dependent and independent variables. Results: The outcome of the path analysis using structural equation modeling demonstrates that in-store displays, reference groups, and store employees' behavior significantly influence the customers' impulse buying decisions in the distribution center. Additionally, it has been discovered that promotional activities have no significant impact on consumers' impulsive purchasing decisions made at the retail center of Kathmandu. Conclusions and Implications: The study's findings indicate that the actions of store personnel, reference groups, and in-store displays significantly contribute to the acceleration of impulsive purchases. Such findings provide researchers and business executives with a road map for the future.

Sequence and Structural Features of Subsite Residues in GH10 and GH11 Xylanases

Bharat Madan,이선구 한국생물공학회 2018 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.23 No.3

Xylanases are the enzymes that breakdown complex plant cell wall polysaccharide xylan into xylose by hydrolysing the β-(1→4) glycosidic linkage between xylosides. They mainly belong to the families GH10 and GH11 of the glycoside hydrolase class of enzymes. GH10 xylanases have (α/β)8-barrel type of fold whereas GH11 xylanases have β-jelly roll type of fold. Both enzymes have several substrate binding subsites. This study analysed in detail the sequence and structural conservation of subsites residues by examining their 3D structures crystallized with homoxylan or its non-hydrolysable form as substrate. A total of 19 structures from GH10 and 6 structures from GH11 were analysed. It was found that in GH10 the subsites -3 to -1 consisted of conserved residues, whereas in GH11 subsites -1, -3 and +1 were found to be conserved. The substrate and subsite interaction analysed based on the presence of h-bonds and CH-π interactions showed that Face-to-Face or Edge-to-Face CH-π interactions are formed in the subsites of GH10, whereas such specific CH-π interactions were no at all observed in case of GH11 xylanases. The spatial conservation of subsite residues was also analysed using a distance matrix based approach. It was found that in GH10 xylanases conserved residues have conserved spatial position of those residues as opposed to GH11 enzymes where in subsites -2 and +2 conserved residues showed non-conservation in their spatial positions. The results presented in this study can be used in discovering new xylanases and in the engineering highly efficient xylanases.

Risk Factors and Surgical Treatment for Recurrent Lumbar Disc Prolapse: A Review of the Literature

        Bharat R. Dave,Devanand Degulmadi,Ajay Krishnan,Shivanand Mayi 대한척추외과학회 2020 Asian Spine Journal Vol.14 No.1

We aim to present the current evidence on various risk factors and surgical treatment modalities for recurrent lumbar disc herniation (rLDH). Using PubMed, a literature search was performed using the Mesh terms “recurrent disc prolapse,” “herniated lumbar disc,” “risk factors,” and “treatment.” Articles that were published between January 2010 and May 2017 were selected for further screening. A search conducted through PubMed identified 213 articles that met the initial screening criteria. Detailed analyses showed that 34 articles were eligible for inclusion in this review. Sixteen articles reported the risk factors associated with rLDH. Decompression alone as a treatment option was studied in seven articles, while 11 articles focused on different types of fusion surgery (anterior lumbar interbody fusion, posterior lumbar interbody fusion, open transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion [TLIF], and minimally invasive surgery-TLIF). Management of the rLDH requires consideration of the possible risk factors present in individual patients before primary and at the time of second surgery. Both, minimally invasive and conventional open procedures are comparably effective in relieving leg pain, and minimally invasive techniques offer advantage over the other technique in terms of tissue sparing. Non-fusion surgeries involve the risk of lumbar disc herniation re-recurrence, and the patient may require a third (fusion) surgery.

Enhancing mechanical and durability properties of geopolymer concrete with mineral admixture

Bharat Bhushan Jindal,Dhirendra Singhal,Sanjay Sharma,Parveen 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2018 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.21 No.3

This paper approaches to improve the mechanical and durability properties of low calcium fly ash geopolymer concrete with the addition of Alccofine as a mineral admixture. The mechanical and durability performance of GPC was assessed by means of compressive strength, flexural strength, permeability, water absorption and permeable voids tests. The correlation between compressive strength and flexural strength, depth of water penetration and percentage permeable voids are also reported. Test results show that addition of Alccofine significantly improves the mechanical as well as permeation properties of low calcium fly ash geopolymer concrete. Very good correlations were noted between the depth of water penetration and compressive strength, percentage permeable voids and compressive strength as well as between compressive strength and flexural strength.
