The early pulmonary consequences of inhalation injury are well documented; however, little is known about delayed pulmonary complications following thermal inhalation injury. Although thermal injury below the vocal cords is rare because of effective heat dissipation in the upper airway, inflammatory endobronchial polyps have previously been reported as a delayed complication associated with inhalation injury. We report an extraordinary case of tracheobronchial polyps in patients with smoke inhalation injury. This report shows the delayed development and natural course of tracheobronchial polyps following thermal injury.

<P>This paper reports a unique fluorescence (FL) response and diverse applications of conjugated polyelectrolyte (CPE) through nonelectrostatic interaction with appropriate (bio)surfactants in an immiscible two-phase system. A sulfonated microporous conjugated polymer (SMCP) with a conformation-variable intramolecular stacked structure was used as the CPE film. Despite the extremely high hydrophilicity, the SMCP film responded significantly to the hydrophobic circumstances, either physicochemically or electronically, in the presence of water-in-oil (w/o)-type nonionic surfactants with appropriate hydrophile–lipophile balance (HLB) values. The polymer film became fully wet with hydrophobic solvents due to the addition of small amounts of (bio)surfactant to reveal remarkable FL emission enhancement and chromism. Microcontact and inkjet printing using the SMCP film (or SMCP-adsorbed paper) and the surfactant solution as substrate and ink, respectively, provided high-resolution FL images due to the distinctive surfactant-induced FL change (SIFC) characteristic. Moreover, the additional electrostatic interaction of SMCP film with oppositely charged surfactants further enhanced the FL emission. Amyloidosis is defined by tissue deposits of amyloid, which cause both functional and structural damage to organs. Three histopathological types of pulmonary amyloidosis have been described: tracheobronchial, nodular parenchymal, and diffuse parenchymal or alveolar septal types. Diffuse alveolar septal involvement of the lung is a rare form of primary pulmonary amyloidosis, with radiological features similar to those of pulmonary edema, pulmonary fibrosis, and lymphangitic carcinomatosis. Therefore, it is always challenging to diagnose alveolar septal involvement of pulmonary amyloidosis. Here, we report a case of alveolar septal involvement of pulmonary amyloidosis mimicking lymphangitic carcinomatosis, which was diagnosed from a transbronchial lung biopsy.
Identifying the needs and wishes of generation Z regarding clothing maintenance

Despite the huge success of LG Styler on the local and global market, it seems to target housewives in their 40s, instead of people in their 20-30s who are the main consumers of the clothing industry and consequently have more interest in clothing management and maintenance. Therefore, this study aims to understand the needs and wishes of the older representatives of generation Z regarding clothing care as well as the reasons behind the low demand for stylers among them. To meet this goal, we surveyed generation Z representatives and received 80 responses, conducted 6 extreme user interviews along with collage making, and analyzed gathered data with the use of affinity diagrams. Based on this, we developed criteria and directions for the further work of redesigning LG Styler (S3MFC) to meet the needs of generation Z, the population group that is most interested in clothing care.
A Correlation Between Crack Growth and Abrasion for Selected Rubber Compounds

A typical wear pattern was reported to resemble the fatigue crack growth behavior considering its mechanism, especially for amorphous rubbers such as styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR). In this study, the wear and crack growth rates were correlated using two separate experiments for carbon black and silica-reinforced selected rubber compounds. The wear rate was determined using a blade-type abrasion tester, where the frictional energy input during wearing was measured. The crack propagation rate was determined under different tearing energy inputs using a home-made fatigue tester, with a pure-shear test specimen containing pre-cracks. The rates of abrasion and crack propagation were plotted on a log-log scale as a function of frictional and tearing energies, respectively. Reasonable agreement was observed, indicating that the major mechanism of the abrasion pattern involved repeated crack propagation.

The impact of bronchiectasis on the occurrence of postoperative pulmonary complications (PPC) after extra-pulmonary surgery in patients with airflow limitation is not well elucidated. A retrospective analysis of 437 patients with airflow limitations, including 62 patients with bronchiectasis, was conducted. The analysis revealed that bronchiectasis was associated with increased PPC (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 2.73; P = 0.001), which was especially significant in patients who did not use bronchodilators (aOR, 3.24; P = 0.002). Our study indicates that bronchiectasis is associated with an increased risk of PPC following extra-pulmonary surgery in patients with airflow limitation, and bronchodilators may prevent PPC in these patients.
