Background: Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APML) is characterized by the reciprocal translocation t(15;17) (p22;p12) resulting in the PML-$RAR{\alpha}$ fusion gene. A dual diagnostic and follow up approach was applied including cytogenetic demonstration of the t(15;17) translocation and detection dg PML-$RAR{\alpha}$ chimeric transcripts by molecular means. Purpose: Conventional cytogenetics involving bone marrow is beset with high probability of poor metaphase index and was substituted with phytohemagglutinin (PHA)-induced peripheral blood culture based cytogenetic analysis as a diagnostic & follow up modality in APML patients of Kashmir (North India). Both qualitative (RT-PCR) and quantitative (Q-PCR) tests were simultaneously carried out to authenticte the modified cytogenetics. Materials and Method: Patient samples were subjected to the said techniques to establish their baseline as well as follow-up status. Results: Initial cytogenetics revealed 30 patients (81%) Positive for t(15;17) whereas 7 (19%) had either cryptic translocation or were negative for t(15;17). Two cases had chromosome 16q deletion and no hallmark translocation t(15;17). Q-PCR status for PML-$RAR{\alpha}$ was found to be positive for all patients. All the APML patients were reassessed at the end of consolidation phase and during maintenance phase of chemotherapy where 6 patients had molecular relapse, wherein 4 also demonstrated cytogenetic relapse. Conclusions: It was found that PHA-induced peripheral blood cytogenetics along with molecular analysis could prove a reliable modality in the diagnosis and assessment of follow up response of APML patients.
SURFACES OF REVOLUTION SATISFYING Δ<sup>II</sup>G = f(G + C)

In this paper, we study surfaces of revolution without parabolic points in 3-Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^3$, satisfying the condition ${\Delta}^{II}G=f(G+C)$, where ${\Delta}^{II}$ is the Laplace operator with respect to the second fundamental form, $f$ is a smooth function on the surface and C is a constant vector. Our main results state that surfaces of revolution without parabolic points in $\mathbb{R}^3$ which satisfy the condition ${\Delta}^{II}G=fG$, coincide with surfaces of revolution with non-zero constant Gaussian curvature.
NEUTRON ELASTIC AND NON-ELASTIC SCATTERING STUDIES IN TENS OF MeV REGION

Experimental data have been obtained on the neutron elastic scattering cross sections for 55, 65 and 75 MeV neutrons, and non-elastic scattering cross sections for 40 to 80 MeV neutrons using the $^7Li(p,n)$ neutron source at TIARA of Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute and the TOF method. Data were obtained for C, Si, Fe, Zr, and Pb of natural elements. Elastic scattering data were obtained for 25 laboratory angles between 2.6 and 53.0 that clarified the angular distributions and angle integrated values. The data obtained were compared favorably with recent LA150 data library.
Characteristics of spider assemblages of subtropical rice paddy fields in the Yaeyama Islands, Japan

Spiders are important natural enemies of rice pests in paddy fields. To estimate their roles, it is essential to understand their functional diversity. However, little is known about the spider fauna of paddy fields in sub tropical regions. Here, we investigated spider diversity and species composition in paddy fields in the Yaeyama Islands, in subtropical Japan. We collected 1489 individuals of at least 42 species in 13 families and 7 guilds from rice paddies on Ishigaki, Iriomote, and Yonaguni islands by net sweeping during the first and second crops from 2013 to 2015. The Tetragnathidae (39%), Araneidae (35%), and Thomisidae (18%) were the most abundant families, comprising > 90% of total abundance. Orb web weavers (73%) and ambush hunters (19%) were the most abundant guilds. The most common species were Neoscona theisi (Walckenaer, 1841) (Araneidae) (n = 352), Tetragnatha javana (Thorell, 1890) (Tetragnathidae) (n = 294), and Tetragnatha nitens (Audouin, 1826) (Tet ragnathidae) (n = 94). The results show that the species composition of spiders in subtropical paddy fields is more similar to that in tropical paddy fields in Asia than to that in temperate paddy fields in mainland Japan. Ordination analysis showed that the composition of spiders on Ishigaki island varies greatly with season and year. This study makes a valuable contribution to knowledge of the comprehensive diversity of subtropical spiders associated with rice paddy fields in Japan.
Evaluation of Car Seat Using Reliable and Valid Vehicle Seat Discomfort Survey

Subjective evaluation has always been regarded as a branch of social science research. Hence, in scientific and especially engineering points of view, its development is always taken for granted despite the importance of its effects on the design and development decisions. In the past, at least two automotive seat survey questionnaires have been developed with high statistical validity and reliability. Nonetheless, both were not local while subjective perception very much depends on demographic background factors. It is felt that since vehicle seat comfort is an important aspect in a seat design, a local sense should be put into the survey that is used as the subjective tool. The proposed vehicle seat discomfort survey questionnaire was developed in dual languages; English and Malay. Malay language is the national language of Malaysia, where the survey was tested. Beside inputs from literatures, key informant interviews helped in establishing the appropriate terms used as survey items. Three experimental runs on two different seats by 22 paid subjects showed that the developed questionnaire is reliable and valid. Furthermore, criterion validity analysis on the survey and previously developed survey showed significant correlation at 0.01 significance level.

A brief review is presented on the ion beam application in science and technology. ion beams are used very effectively in various fields of science and technology, on the basis of advance in accelerator technology and experimental techniques for ion beam utilization. Recent progress in this field is reviewed in terms of the direct ion beam utilization like ion beam analysis, and the utilization of neutrons as secondary particles.
