Subjective cognitive complaints (SCCs) refer to self-perceived cognitive decline and are related to objective cognitive decline. SCCs in cognitively normal individuals are considered a preclinical sign of subsequent cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer’s disease, and SCCs in cognitively normal patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) are also gaining attention. The aim of this review was to provide an overview of the current research on SCCs in cognitively normal patients with PD. A systematic search found a lack of consistency in the methodologies used to define and measure SCCs. Although the association between SCCs and objective cognitive performance in cognitively normal patients with PD is controversial, SCCs appear to be predictive of subsequent cognitive decline. These findings support the clinical value of SCCs in cognitively normal status in PD; however, further convincing evidence from biomarker studies is needed to provide a pathophysiological basis for these findings. Additionally, a consensus on the definition and assessment of SCCs is needed for further investigations.

Three-dimensional (3D) graphene aerogel is a relatively new type of carbon nanomaterials. 3D macroscopic graphene aerogel possess prominent features such as low densities, highly exposed surface areas, low mass and ion transport resistance, percolation-type electrical conductivity, and good chemical stability; these make them potentially suitable for various applications including electrodes, catalytic supports, absorbents, separators, and chemical/bio-sensors. In this presentation, the recent research progress towards the development of advanced porous carbons will be presented. Then, the recently proposed chemical strategies to improve the wettability and mechanical durability of graphene aerogels are also discussed. This research may offer an opportunity for the further investigation of industrial applications, and might be expanded to allow the applications of porous carbons in a wide range of areas.
Subjective Cognitive Complaints and Objective Cognitive Impairment in Parkinson’s Disease

Background and Purpose Subjective cognitive complaints (SCCs) are very common in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). However, the relationship between SCCs and objective cognitive impairment is still unclear. This study aimed to determine whether SCCs are correlated with objective cognitive performance in patients with PD. Methods Totals of 148 cognitively normal patients, 71 patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and 31 demented patients were recruited consecutively from a movement-disorders clinic. Their SCCs and cognitive performances were evaluated using the Cognitive Complaints Interview (CCI) and a comprehensive neuropsychological battery. Results The CCI score increased with age, duration of PD, and depression score, and was inversely correlated with cognitive performance. The association between CCI score and performance remained significant after adjustment for the depression score, age, and duration of PD. The CCI score could be used to discriminate patients with dementia from cognitively normal and MCI patients [area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUC) of 0.80], but not patients with MCI or dementia from cognitively normal patients (AUC of 0.67). Conclusions SCCs as measured by the CCI are strongly correlated with objective cognitive performance in patients with PD. The CCI can also be used to screen for dementia in patients with PD.

최근 폐비닐 등의 수거처리 문제가 큰 사회적 문제로 대두되고, 국내외적으로 폐기물 관리법이 제정되어 폐기물의 매립 등에 대한 규제가 강화되면서, 폐기물의 특히 폐플라스틱(비닐, 복합필름류)의 재활용방안에 대한 연구가 절실히 필요한 상황임. 폐플라스틱을 골재로 적용한 토목 구조물의 경우, 일반적인 무기 골재와는 물리적, 화학적 성질이 다르기 때문에 콘크리트 구조체 적용 전 무기물과 유기물(폐플라스틱)의 계면에 대한 연구가 반드시 수행되어야 하며, 유/무기 복합재료에서의 고분자 물질의 미시적 거동변화 분석이 필수적임. 본 연구에서는 폐복합필름과 무기충진재와의 복합화를 통한 골재화를 진행하였으며, 친수성 관능기 도입을 통한 시멘트 기재와 폐복합필름 간의 친화성 향상을 위해 다양한 표면개질(실란, 플라즈마) 방법을 통해 친수성 관능기를 도입한 후 표면에너지 변화를 고찰하고자 하였음.
