Recently, the utilization of recycled aggregates for backfilling a power transmission pipeline trench has been considered due to the issues of eco-friendly construction and a lack of natural aggregate resource. It is important to identify the physical and thermal properties of domestic recycled aggregates that can be used as a backfill material. This paper evaluated thermal properties of concrete-based recycled aggregates with various particle size distributions. The thermal properties of the recycled aggregates and river sand provided by local vendors were measured using the transient hot wire method and the transient needle probe method after performing the standard compaction test. The needle probe method considerably overestimated the thermal resistivity of recycled aggregates especially at the dry of optimum water content because of experiencing disturbance while the needle probe is being inserted into the specimen. Similar to silica sand, the thermal resistivity of recycled aggregates decreased when the water content increased at a given dry density. Also, this paper evaluated some of the existing prediction models for the thermal resistivity of recycled aggregates with the experimental data, and developed a new prediction model for recycled aggregates. This study shows that recycled aggregates can be a promising backfill material substituting for natural aggregates when backfilling the power transmission pipeline trench.

Use of recycled aggregates that are constituents of concrete or asphalt-based structures has become popular because the recycling is an eco-friendly way to overcome the depletion of natural aggregates. In order to adopt the recycled aggregates for backfilling a power transmission pipeline trench, their thermal resistivity should be low enough to prevent thermal runaway in the transmission system. In this study, a series of laboratory tests with QTM-500 and KD2 Pro was performed to measure the thermal resistivity of recycled aggregates prepared from various sources. Relationships between the thermal resistivity of recycled aggregates and the water content have been obtained with consideration of compaction effort. Similar to natural soils, the thermal resistivity of the recycled aggregates decreases with increasing the water content. In addition, this study compared the experimental data with conventional prediction models for the thermal resistivity in the literature, which suggests the availability of the recycled aggregates as backfill material substituting for natural aggregates when backfilling the power transmission pipeline trench.

According to the traditional Korean medicine, Dampness-heat (DH) is an abnormal state of the body that results in a pathological accumulation of dampness and heat. DH is caused by overeating fatty, sweet foods or overdrinking alcohol. Exposure to hot and humid atmospheres is another cause of DH. Although many experimental animal model on various diseases related with DH syndrome were established, DH syndrome dermatitis model is not established. Thus, we introduce the experimental animal model of the dermatitis with DH syndrome.

Static blood (SB) is a traditional Korean medicine disease symptom caused by a blood amassment, which refers to a pathological product of blood circulating poorly or accumulating in the interior. The growth and denaturalization of various organizations, inflammatory response and blood circulation disorder are regarded pathological conditions of SB. Endometrial hyperplasia (EH) is a state of excessive proliferation of the cells of the endometrium. Therefore, we suggest the EH mouse model as the experimental animal model of SB.

8200호대 전기 기관차의 컨버터/인버터 스택은 GTO 반도체 소자를 사용한다. 이들 전력 반도체 소자들은 많은 열이 발생하므로, 효율적인 냉각을 위하여 수냉각장치가 있다. 현재 개발 중인 스택은 GTO 소자 대신 IGBT 소자를 사용한다. IGBT용 수냉각장치는 기존 차량의 수냉식 구조와 호환성을 갖도록 개발한다. 크기는 기존 스택의 크기 범위 안에서 정한다. 냉각수의 수압, 유량의 조건은 기존 차량과 동일하다. GTO 소자와 IGBT 소자의 특성이 다르기 때문에 IGBT용 수냉각장치의 외형 및 내부 유로의 구조는 새롭게 설계했다. IGBT 케이스의 최대 온도를 80℃이하가 되도록 냉각 효율을 높였다. 실용화를 목적으로 개발하며 제작 공정을 단순화하고 유지 보수가 용이한 구조로 개발했다. The converter and inverter stacks in 8200 series electric locomotive use GTO semiconductors. Since these high power semiconductors generate a high temperature, there exists the water cooling system for efficient cooling. We use IGBT instead of GTO for new development, which will be compatible with the existing system. The size of the new stacks will be within the original size. Pressure and quantity of water flow will be in the same condition of the original. Because IGBT and GTO have different specifications, we designed new outward appearance and inward waterway. The maximum temperature of IGBT case was under 80℃ as improving the efficiency. Also, We simplified manufacturing process and made the system easy for maintenances for practical uses.

Cylindrical chokes are used widely as components of hydraulic equipments. The dynamic characteristics between flowrate and pressure drop through the cylindrical chokes were discussed by the frequency characteristics of the chokes. It was assumed no pressure recovery occured at the downstream neighborhood of the choke. The pulsating jetflow from outlet of cylindrical chokes shows very complex behaviours which are quite different from the steady jetflow but it is not clarified quantitatively. In order to utilize the chokes as a flowmeter, it is indispensable to discuss the estimation of the dynamics of pressure drop in the downstream jetflow region of cylindrical chokes. In this experimental study, the dynamic behaviours of the jetflow in the downstream region of cylindrical chokes are investigated precisely by using flow visualization. In the results of experimental sutdy, it is clarified that the retachment length depended on pressure wave is compared with it depended on velocity wave.
