Background/Aims: Among the diagnostic methods to detect Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, serological test is a noninvasive, safe, and inexpensive method in clinical practice. This study was performed to determine whether the titer of anti-H. pylori IgG antibody was correlated with endoscopic findings of gastroduodenal diseases, gastric ulcer stage, and age. Methods: Two hundred and eighteen patients who were H. pylori positive by serological method and received gastroduodenal endoscopy were enrolled. All patients had the titers of anti-H. pylori IgG antibody >300 U/mL. We compared the antibody titer according to gastroduodenal diseases, peptic ulcer stage, and age group. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between serum anti-H. pylori IgG antibody titer according to gastroduodenal diseases (chronic gastritis, 999.8±120 U/mL; gastric ulcer, 1043±155.6 U/mL; duodenal ulcer, 1018.5±121.9 U/mL; gastric cancer, 1351±266 U/mL; p=0.504). No significant difference in the anti-H. pylori IgG antibody titer was observed according to peptic ulcer stage (p=0.065) and age (p=0.791). Conclusions: The serum anti-H. pylori IgG antibody titer is not valuable in differentiating the gastroduodenal diseases. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2002;39:167-172)

In this study, the amount of building energy savings before and after green remodeling of 25 target sites was evaluated and the amount of carbon reduction was analyzed, and the results are as follows. As a result of analysis of building energy before and after green remodeling, a maximum of 67.8% was reduced, which is analyzed as a result of changes in the performance of windows and buildings.As a result of the analysis of greenhouse gas emissions before and after green remodeling, a maximum of 59.8% of greenhouse gases were reduced, and when converted to planting effect, it is equivalent to 2397 trees, which can replace greenhouse gases emitted from about 8 passenger cars. Through the analysis of this study, it was confirmed that green remodeling for energy improvement of aging buildings can reduce building energy as well as reduce carbon by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition to the mitigation of carbon emissions through the reduction of building energy consumption, the prevention of fire spread in buildings is important an important task globally. Therefore, a growing interest towards building materials that can simultaneously contribute to energy savings and provide good flame-retardant performance in buildings exist. The insulating material with excellent flame retardant performance is crucial because it can prevent diffusion in case of fire and ensure sufficient evacuation time. Therefore, in this study, fire performance evaluation was conducted on 4 types of organic insulation materials.

This pilot study seeks to standardize the visual perception and eye-hand coordination training using magnet blocks and investigate the satisfaction of brain injury patients and occupational therapists. Sixty-one healthy adults participated in the study to standardize the visual perception and eye-hand coordination training using magnet blocks. To measure the satisfaction for both the magnet block training and pencil-paper training, ten occupational therapists and fifteen brain injury patients participated. The study used a numerical rating measurement to measure satisfaction. For the standardization, the study divided participants into two groups: adult aged 20~39 and aged 40~64. The study then measured the time for using both hands, dominant hand, and non-dominant hand. The result of comparing the rate satisfaction felt by occupational therapists and brain injury patients from two types of training using pencil-paper and magnet block respectively did not show any significant difference (p>.05). The visual perception and eye-hand coordination training using the magnet block showed the same result with the training using pencil and paper in terms of satisfaction.
