활자적 입력강화와 명시적 지시 및 주제 친숙도가 영어 수동태 학습 및 지문이해에 미치는 영향

This study sought to investigate the effects of typological input enhancement, explicit instruction, and topic familiarity on Korean college students’ learning of the passive form and reading comprehension. To this end, six classes of 157 Korean EFL college students were assigned to six groups. They were first asked to take a pretest, and were given two-stage treatments. The first stage was concerned with two-hour topic familiarity training provided for half of the six groups. The second stage involved two input enhancement treatment sessions. After each of the input enhancement treatment session, a written recall task was conducted in order to see what the participants could recall from the reading. Following all treatments, the experimental groups completed a form recognition posttest. The findings showed that the groups provided with enhanced texts with explicit instruction received significantly higher scores on the form recognition posttest, whereas topic familiarity training had no significant effect on learners’ processing of grammatical forms. Furthermore, the results of the free recall task showed that regardless of explicit instruction, the students with the enhanced texts outperformed those with the unenhanced texts on reading comprehension. Theoretical and pedagogical implications are discussed.

Recognizing the importance of output and noticing in the second language acquisition, the present study investigated whether model writings and noticing-triggering activities can serve as one form of written feedback to learners’ writing. Particularly, it was interested in whether two different noticing-triggering activities would have different effects on learners’ noticing and incorporation in immediate and delayed revisions. To this end, 93 university students in three English composition classes in Busan were asked to take part in four-staged picture-cued narrative writing task (i.e., drafting, comparison, immediate revision, and delayed revision). The three classes engaged in different activities (i.e., note-taking, underlining, or reading) while they were comparing their own writing and the given models. The results indicated that models as written feedback have led learners to notice linguistic forms that they have previously found problematic or have not thought of as problematic. Furthermore, the note-taking activity in the comparison stage seemed to help learners better incorporate the linguistic forms included in the subsequent input.

This study sought to examine the effects of textual enhancement and topic familiarity on Korean college students` recognition of passive form and reading comprehension. It also investigated whether their effects would differ depending on learners` prior knowledge of the target form. To this end, a total of 108 Korean EFL college learners were asked to take the pretest designed to measure learners` prior knowledge of the target form and general reading ability and the posttest consisting of form recognition test and free recall task. After the topic of economic depression was selected as an unfamiliar topic based on the analysis of the two pre-questionnaires, half of the participants received two sessions of topic familiarity training using reading tasks. The major findings from MANOVAs and Duncan post-hoc analyses are summarized as follows. First, input enhancement was found to have positive effects on the learning of the passive form, and at the same time did not hinder the learners` understanding of the passages. Second, topic familiarity helped learners better understand the passages, while it did not lead to learners` recognition of the passage form. Lastly, learners` prior knowledge of the passive form was observed to intervene the effects of input enhancement and topic familiarity. Theoretical and pedagogical implications are discussed.
도심지내 생육환경 차이에 따른 가로수의 생리 및 생화학적 반응

도시의 복합적인 환경오염은 가로수에 있어서 여러 가지 생리적 장해를 유발한다. 본 연구는 서울시의 대표적 가로수종인 양버즘나무(Platanus occidentalis)와 은행나무(Ginkgo biloba)를 대상으로 도심지 내 생육환경 차이에 따른 수목의 생리적 반응을 규명하고자 수행되었다. 연구 대상지는 도시 내 교통량 및 토양 환경 등을 고려하여 가로수 생육이 불량할 것으로 생각되는 곳과 양호할 것으로 생각되는 곳을 선택하였고, 수목 조사는 6월과 10월에 실시하였다. 양버즘나무와 은행나무모두 환경이 상대적으로 불량한 지역에서 총 엽록소, 카로테노이드 그리고 아스크로빈 산 함량이 낮게 나타났다. 특히 은행나무는 6월과 10월 모두 생육환경 차이에 따른 세 변수들의 유의적 차이가 크게 나타났으며, 양버즘나무는 6월에 비해 10월에 유의적 차이가 크게 나타났다. 상대 이온 유출량과 엽온은 두 수종 모두 생육환경이 불량한 곳에서 더 높게 나타나는 경향을 보였다. 반면 잎의 pH는 두수종 모두 생육환경간의 차이를 보이지 않았다. 본 실험을 통해서 도시 내 생육환경 차이가 은행나무와 양버즘나무의 생리적 활성에 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 것을 확인하였다. Urban environmental pollution induced physiological lesion on the roadside tree. This study was conducted to identify physiological responses of Platanus occidentalis and Ginkgo biloba to urban environmental conditions at two different sites in Seoul, Korea. Sites were selected based on urban environmental conditions like traffic volume and soil condition etc. Tree experimentations were performed in June and October. In both species, trees which selected at poor environment condition had low contents of total chlorophyll, carotenoid and ascrobic acid. By comparing those parameters of two species, Ginko biloba showed a significant difference in June and October, whereas Platanus occidentalis showed a significant difference in October (p<0.05). Relative ion leakage and leaf temperature of both species which selected at poor environment condition showed increasing. But there was no significant difference of leaf pH in both species. According to this study, we noticed that physiological activities of Ginkgo biloba and Platanus occidentalis could be affected by different urban environmental conditions.

A series of 2-oxiranecarboxylate derivatives were prepared as carnitine palmitoyl transferase Ⅰ(CPT-Ⅰ) inhibitors for the development of new antidiabetic agents. The syntheses and biological activities were reported. The most promising derivative(13b) showed 2.5 times more hypoglycemic activity and 2 times lower acute toxicity compared to Etomoxir(3).
