The objectives of this study, an analysis of the variation for bunch and fruit morphological characteristics and investigation of the characteristics for flowering and fruiting among the selected clones of Hovenia dulcis var. koreana Nakai. could be used for the conservation of gene resources and could provide information to superior trees selection. The results obtained from this study can be summarized as follows; In the fruiting characteristic analysis, total means of the Diameter of fruiting lateral(DFL), Number of total flowering lateral(NTFL), Number of fructify lateral(NFL), Rate of fructify lateral(RFL), Number of average bunch per fructify lateral(NABFL), and Number of average bunch per fruiting lateral(NABPFL) were 1.57cm, 14.5, 12.5, 82.56%, 3.23 and 39.18, respectively. Especially, the range and coefficient of variation for the NTFL and NFL, NABFL and NABPFL characteristics were 3~60(CV=57.8%) and 1~60(CV= 69.0%), 1~28(CV=56.0%) and 7.3~91.6(CV=61.2%), respectively. In the bunch and fruit morphological characteristic analysis, means of the Bunch length(BL) and Width (BW), and Weight of bunch(WB) were 33.37mm, 44.05mm and 7.38g, respectively. And, the coefficient of variation and range for the these characteristics were 8.8~130.1mm(CV=41.1%), 11.0?100.6mm (CV=30.2%), and 0.2~40.6g(CV=75.1%), respectively. In the Number of fruit per bunch(NFB) and Number of fruit petiole per bunch(NFPB) characteristic analysis, means of the NFB and NFPB were 14.24 and 2.81, respectively. In the Length and Width of fruit(LF and WF) characteristic analysis, means, range and coefficient of variation for the LF and WF were 7.48tnm, 6.1~9.6mm, 6.8% and 6.89mm, 5.7~8.6mm, 6.0%, respectively. The selection level based on major fruiting characteristics, which are the NFL over 16, NABFL over 3.1, NABPFL over 58, and WFPI and Yl over 2.9kg and 6kg, were applied on 47 sample clones, and five clones were selected(priority of 10% rank). The selection effects from selected clones in NFL, NABFL, NABPFL, WFPI and YI were evaluated as 152%, 119%, 182%, 327% and 320% compared to the mean of those 47 sample clones, respectively. Especially, GW 3-3 showed excellent values that NABPFL, WFPI and YI were 91.68, 4.7kg, and 11.26kg, respectively, suggesting a promising new superior tree for high fruit petiole productivity.
미국흰불나방(Hyphanria cunea)에 대한 곤충병원성선충 Steinernema carpocapsae의 병원성

Environmentally sound control of fall webworm, Hyphanria cunea (Drury) with entomopathogenic nematode, Sreinernema carpocapsae Pocheon strain was evaluated in the laboratory and pot. Pathogenicity of 5. carpocapsae Pocheon strain was different depending on larval stage, i.e., mortality of the 2nd instar and the $3\~4th$ instar was $100\%$ with >20 infective juveniles (Ijs)/larva in 3 days, but the 5th instar was $34\%$ with (Ijs)/larva in 3 days. Pathogenicity of 5. carpocapsae Pocheon strain was higher with increasing nematode concentration. Mortality of Hyphanria cunea larva by 5. carpocapsae Pocheon strain was not significantly different (more than $70\%$) between nematode concentration on treated trees (Malus alba and Platanus orientalis) and in pot. 곤충병원성선충 Steinernema carpocapsae 포천 계통을 이용하여 미국흰불나방 (Hyphanria cunea)의 환경친화적 방제 가능성을 알아보기 위하여 실내와 포트에서 실험을 수행하였다. Steinernema carpocapsae 포천 계통의 병원성은 미국흰불나방의 령기에 따라 병원성의 차이가 있어 2령충과 $3\~4$령 혼재 처리에서는 미국흰불나방 유충 당 20마리 이상 선충 처리에서는 $100\%$치사하였으나, 5령충에서는 80마리 선충 접종 시에도 처리 3일 후 $34\%$의 치사율을 보였다. Steinernema carpocapsae 포천 계통의 접종농도가 높을수록 미국흰불나방의 치사율은 증가하였다. Pot 실험에서 수종 (뽕나무와 버즘나무)간이나 선충 농도간에 미국횐불나방 유충에 대한 치사율은 차이가 없어 $70\%$ 이상의 치사율을 보였다.

Introgressive hybridization of Pinus densiflora in Korea was investigated by examining the position of resin ducts in 4,992 trees from 67 populations. Judging that P. densiflora has only external resin ducts, P. thunbergii only medial resin ducts, and any tree which has even one needle with external and medial resin ducts is hybrid, hybrids are found at all populations investigated. As variation in position of resin ducts was found among needles on a tree, the number of needles investigated from a tree affects judgment of the tree`s hybridity. Therefore, hybridity seems to be judged by many traits rather than by the single trait, position of resin ducts. Seed production by artificial pollination between P. densiflora and P. thunbergii was very poor, i.e. one full seed from five female flowers or from two mature cones. This poor seed production, in addition to the low hybrid vigor, if any, seems to make the artificial pollination between the two species for mass-production of seeds for planting impractical.

Fruit characteristics, saccharinity, and antioxidalive activity of selected clones of Rubes coreanus, grown in Korea, well-known as edible and medical resources, frequently used and which has an excellent pharmacological activity are examined and analyzed. The results obtained from this study can be summarized as follows; Result of surveying characteristics for the fruit and saccharinity variation by collection time, there are some meaningful differences between examined clones and the collection time, exception of the fruit width. From the clones, SG 3 is the biggest in size, the highest in the saccharinity out of five clones, on the other hand, CJ 18 and SH 3 are the opposite. Meanwhile, comparing examined saccharinity factor with maximum temperature and precipitation out of daily climates at Suwon Meteorological Observatory at the same period, on the day the highest temperature is 29.5℃, saccharinity distinctively ascends, but on the day the precipitation is recorded 121.5 mm and next day. the saccharinity descends. Also, five-day saccharinity until the precipitation lower than 0.1 mm per day shows from 10,4 to 11.5 Brix higher than the average saccharinity of 9.7 Brix. Fifteen clones including CA 6 about fruit characteristics in terms of collection layer and saccharinity variation were examined, there is significantly difference among examined clones. but about the collection layer, only saccharinity factor has meaningful significance. For clones, MJ 11 is the biggest and excellent character of 15 clones but the saccharinity, 10.3 Brix lows a bit, MC 9 and HAE 5 are the worst fruit in character but saccharinity is 13.4 Brix and 10.6 Brix which is higher than the average saccharinity of 9.8 Brix. About saccharinity for the collection layer, the fruit average saccharinity, collected from the upper layer which is good at lightness and temperature condition, is 10.2 Brix which shows higher than the one of the fruit, 9.7 Bix and 9.5 Brix collected from the middle or the lower layer. The saccharinity of fruit collected from the middle or the lower layer is lower than the average saccharinity of 9.8 Brix out of 15 surveyed clones. Surveying antioxidative activity resulted from free radical scavenging activity about 30 clones of fruit in total, there is difference between surveyed clones. Especially, Tmmatured fruit extracts exhibited higher free radical scavenging activity of 94.5 to 97.5% which indicates the similarity to Ascorbic acid, unlike other clones, on the concentration of 250 to 1,000 ppm.
