Osteomas mainly affect the frontal and ethmoid sinuses, and are usually asymptomatic. When enlarged, they can give rise to intracranial manifestations and life-threatening complications. A 41-year-old man presented with severe headache and drowsy mentality after blowing his nose. Computed tomography showed air bubbles in the cisterns and the ventricle and around the osteoma in the frontal sinus, suggesting that the mass was associated with entry of the air into the cranial cavity. Through a frontal sinusotomy, the cauliflower-like osteoma was found to be protruding intracranially through the frontal base and the overlying meninges. By using skull base technique, the osteoma was resected radically and the dural defect was repaired with autografts. This rare condition should be urgently treated in the event of acute deterioration. The literature will be reviewed regarding the management of cranial base osteomas and their complications.

Recently, with the development of high speed machining technology for difficult-cutting materials, to improve the cutting performance of cutting tool, fine surface finish of complex shape tools using magnetic polishing technology is in high demand. This study is, therefore, discussed and compared the cutting characteristics of polished tools by the adopted various magnetic polishing moving types a point of view the cutting forces and the tool life. Moreover, the practicality of magnetic polished tools in the wide range cutting conditions is investigated. From obtained results, It is confirmed that the CW(clockwise) revolution and oscillation type as the polishing moving type is proper and magnetic polished tool shows the excellence in high cutting speed range.
MC-Space 알고리즘을 이용한 역공학 효율성 증대에 관한 연구

This study deals with the improvement of efficiency in the aspect of accuracy and time reduction in the reverse engineering. For this, two main strategies are applied in this paper. One is the path smoothness strategy, the other is the collision free strategy. Path smoothness strategy adopts modified B-spline algorithm that is constructed with altered control vertices. It allows improvement of accuracy of reverse engineering with faired surface. Collision free strategy adopts configuration space algorithm defined by two parameters which determine the probe posture. It allows a time reduction of reverse engineering without collision. So this two strategies are named, MC-Space algorithm.
롤러 가압 임프린트 공정에서 잔류막에 미치는 공정 변수의 영향

In order to apply the nano imprint technology in the large area process, roller pressing is promising because of low cost and high productivity. When pressing mold by roller, liquid resin is locally squeezed by mold and substrate. In this study, the main focus is to understand which process parameter affects the residual layer. To do this, simple analytic model was introduced. Especially, we insert aspect ratio term in the equation. As a result, when the aspect ratio of pattern in the mold increases, the thickness of residual layer also increases. For the conclusion, the uniformity of residual layer could be accomplished by the control of velocity and pressing force in roller pressing imprint process.
임펠러의 5축 CAM 자동화 모듈(E-ICAM)의 개발

An impeller is difficult to machine because of severe collision due to the complex shape, overlapping and twisted shape that form impeller blades. So, most CAM software companies have developed CAM module for manufacturing impeller in addition to their CAM software. But it is not still easy for inexperienced users to machine impellers. The purpose of this paper is the development of automatic CAM module for manufacturing impeller(E-ICAM) which is based on visual basic language and it is used CATIA graphical environment in order to be easily machining impellers. Automatic CAM module for manufacturing of impellers generates tool path, and proposes recommended cutting condition according to the material of stock and tool. In addition, it has also included a post processor for 5-axis control machining. Therefore the user can easily machine impellers using this automation module.
원전 CEDM 노즐의 밀봉보수용접시 발생하는 잔류응력에 대한 해석적 연구

The reactor vessel closure head has many CEDM nozzles through which the control element drive mechanisms pass. The CEDM nozzle weld region of the reactor vessel closure head is composed of Alloy 600 material. It has been found that cracks occur due to the high stress generated during normal operation of the nuclear power plant and the contact environment with the primary cooling water. Seal Weld Repair blocks the environmental factor that may causes primary water stress corrosion cracking(PWSCC) by covering Alloy 600 weld region which is susceptible to PWSCC with Alloy 690 resistant to the stress corrosion cracking. In this study, a finite element analysis was performed to evaluate the effect of residual stress formation by seal weld repair in the nuclear power plant CEDM nozzle. The thickness of the welded structure and the number of welded layers were considered as variables. As a result, we showed that seal weld repair for J-groove weldment of CEDM nozzle can release the tensile residual stress so that the possibility of occurrence of PWSCC can be reduced. Also, it has shown that a multi-layer is more effective and thicker weld bead is more secured for reducing residual stresses in J-groove weld.

In order to polish complicated-shaped inner surfaces of models, a new polishing method with magnetic congelation liquid was invented, we called this name MAGIC polishing tool. This tool is magnetic fluid at high temperature, can be solidified by cooling. The distribution of abrasives in the liquid can be controlled by magnetic field. Therefore we can make a special polishing tool which has well arranged abrasives inside after cooling. In order to know the fundamental polishing properties of this new polishing tool, brass plate was polished. The polishing tool was pressed and rotated against the brass plate in specified polishing time. After many experiments, it was found that this type of polishing tool provided enough removal rate and surface roughness.
