The development of colon in fetuses between 60, 90, 120 days of gestation and neonates of Korean native goats was investigated by light scanning electron microscopy. The results were summarized as follows : 1. The colonic wall appeared to be differentiated into the epithelium, lamina propria, submucosa, tunica muscularis and serosa in 60-day-old fetus. 2. The epithelium of the colonic villi was stratified in some areas and simple columnar in others at 60- and 90day-old fetus but was only observed simple columnar epithelium at 120-day-old fetus. 3. The goblet cells and the intestinal glands appeared in the colonic mucosa at 90 days of gestation and continued gradually to increase in number during gestation. 4. The well-developed villi of the colon appeared in columnar shape at 60 days of gestation and increased in length and width until 90 days of gestation but the villi appeared to be shorter and degenerated after 120 days of gestation. At birth only the rudiment trace of the villi remained. 5. The tunical muscularis of the colon was continuously developed during gestation period. The inner circular and outer longitudinal muscle layers were distinguishly observed in the colon of 90-day-old fetuses. 6. Scanning electron microscopically, the colonic villi developed in columnar shape or finger-like of fetuses at 60 days of gestation. The of the colonic villi became degenerated after 120 days of gestation. At birth only the rudiment trace of villi remained.

The development of esophagus in fetuses between 60, 90, 120 days of gestation and neonates of Korean native goats was investigated by light, scanning electron microscopy. The results were summarized as follows; 1. The esophageal wall appeared to be differentiated into the epithelium, lamina propria, tunica muscularis and tunica adventitia at 60 days of gestation. The esophageal epithelium was stratified cuboidal at 60 days, being transformed into stratified squamous epithelium at 90 days, and completely transformed into squamous epithelium an 120 days. 2. In scanning electron microscopy, the longitudinal furrows and ridges appeared on the epithelium of the esophagus of the fetuses at 60 days of gestation. The longitudinal furrow became deeper and microplicae appeared in 90-day-old fetuses. The transverse and longitudinal folds appeared on the epithelial surface of esophagus and the esophageal epithelium started to be keratinized in the neonates.

The development of uterus in fetuses on 60, 90 and 120 days of gastation and neonates of Korean native goats was investigated by scanning electron microscopy. The results were summarized as follows ; 1. In the 60-day-old fetuses, the short microvilli were sporadically observed on the luminal surface of the endometrium. 2. In the 90-day-old fetuses, the mucosal folds, polygonal microridges, numerous microvilli, flower-like-buds, and domeshaped or crateriform area were also observed on the luminal surface of endometrium. 3. In the 120-day-old fetuses, the primordial caruncles(nodules) of the endometrium were developed conspicuously and long microvilli were developed densely. 4. In the neonates, the caruncles and microvilli of the endometrium were more developed than those of 120-day-old fetuses.

The morphological development of uterus in 60-, 90-, 120-day-old fetuses at gestation and neonates of Korean native goats were investigated by light microscopy. 1. In the 60-day-old fetuses, uterine walls differentiated and divided into the endometrium, myometrium and perimetrium. 2. In the 90-day-old fetuses, the blood vessels appeared in the uterine walls, in the 120-day-old fetuses the nodules (primordial caruncles) appeared first in the endometrium. 3. In the 120-day-old fetuses, the gland primordia observed on the uterine epithelium. In the neonates, the developing uterine glands were more number and deeper than those of 120-old fetuses. 4. PAS reaction of the mucosa cells in the endometrium was reacted weak, moderate and strong at 90-, 120-day-old fetuses and neonates, respectively.
13세 여아의 췌장 두부에 발생한 Papillary Cystic and Solid Tumor

A thirteen-year-old girl with a payillary cystic and solid tumor of the pancreas is presented. This neoplasm is very uncommon and occurs predominantly in girls and young women. However, the incidence of the tumor in early teenagers is very rare. The tumor has very low malignant potential and surgical resection would be curative in almost all cases. Our case was initially misdiagnosed with pancreatic pseudocyst, so therapeutic percutaneous aspiration was done and the aspiration cytology demonstrated the papillary cyetic and solid tumor. Grossly, the tumor was round with 3 cm in diameter and located in the paricreatic head attaching to the medial wall of the duodenum. Pylorus preserving pancreatoduodenectomy was done. Microscopically, the tumor cells were monotonous with round to oval bland-appearing nuc1ei and scanty to moderate ill-defined cytoplasm. There were numerous capillaries and branching papillary clusters. Postoperative course was uneventful. Long term follow-up would be recommended although the tumor has very low potential of recurrence and metastasis.
