항공우주연구원은 공공분야의 위성영상 수요에 효과적으로 대응하고 국내 위성산업의 저변확대를 위해 차세대중형위성 1호를 개발하고 있다. 차세대중형위성 2호는 1호와 동일한 설계 규격으로 개발되어 1호와 군집위성 개념으로 운용될 예정이다. 이러한 군집위성 설계 및 운용은 미국, 프랑스, 이탈리아, 독일 등 위성 선진국에 의해 기 운용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 해외 군집위성 운용사례를 조사하였으며 군집위성 개념을 고려한 차세대중형위성 2호기 궤도 설계 및 해석을 수행하였다. KARI is developing the CAS(Compact Advanced Satellite)500-1 satellite system to satisfy the satellite image demands in the public sector and to expand the basis of the domestic satellite industry. CAS500-2 will be developed with the same technical specifications as the CAS500-1 and it will be operated with the CASE500-1 in the concept of constellation. Constellation design and operation have been materialized by satellite advanced countries such as USA, France, Italy, UK and Germany. In this paper, overseas constellation design cases were investigated. And the CAS500-2 orbit was designed and analyzed considering the constellation concept.

항공우주연구원은 지리정보시스템 활용에 필요한 고해상도 지구관측 광학 영상을 제공하는 지구 저궤도 위성을 개발하였다. 위성은 상용발사 서비스를 이용하여 해외발사장에서 성공적으로 발사되었다.본 논문에서는 위성과 지상지원장비를 발사장에서 운영함에 있어서 발사장 작업자와 민간인의 안전을 보장하고 위성과 발사체 및 발사시설 등의 손상을 막기 위하여 수행된 발사장 안전 활동에 대하여 기술하였다. 수행된 발사장안전활동은 예상되는 위험요소와 그 원인 식별, 위험 해석 및 대처방안 마련 그리고 대처방안에 대한 검증 등이 포함된다. Korea Aerospace Research Institute has developed an earth observation satellite whose main mission features the provision of high resolution earth observation images required for the application of geographical information systems. The satellite was launched successfully by using commercial launch vehicle from the oversee launch site. This paper described the range safety activities implemented for the operation of the satellite and ground support equipments at the launch site. The main purpose of these activities are to secure the safety of the public and personnels who work in the launch site and to protect valuable properties including launch vehicle, satellite and launch facilities. They include identification of the expected hazard and causes, hazard analysis and verification.
Launch Site Activities for the Launch of an Earth Observation Satellite

Korea Aerospace Research Institute has developed an earth observation satellite whose primary mission objective is to provide high resolution electro optical earth images for Geographical Information Systems (GIS) establishment and the applications for environmental, agriculture and ocean monitoring. It was successfully launched into its mission orbit by using a commercial launch vehicle on 18th of May, 2012. This paper describes a series of launch activity at the launch site including its transportation to the launch site. Before conducting the launch site operation, satellite operation plane was prepared. Combining the satellite operation plan and launch vehicle activities, an integrated launch site operation plan and schedule have been drawn up. After arrival of the spacecraft at the launch site, post-ship check out has been conducted. And then it was fuel loaded and integrated with launch vehicle hardware. After completion of final electrical check out, count down procedure was executed. on 18th of May, it was launched into the space and was separated from the launch vehicle as planned. About 3 months of early operation and calibration/validation, now the satellite is conducting its normal mission.
