        The purpose of this research is to find out the level of understandings of professors, directors, and teachers about ecology centered early childhood education. This research is to outline the direction the ecology centered early childhood education should take. Below are the research problems that are dealt with in this research. First, what are the understandings of professors, directors, and teachers about the status of current ecology system? Second, what are the understandings of professors, directors, and teachers to the present early childhood education? Third, what are the understanding of professors, directors, and teachers about ecology centered early childhood education? Fourth, what are the ideas of professors, directors, and teachers about the preconditions and problems that arise when practicing the ecology centered early childhood education? The research targets used in this research are a total of 526 people ; 71 professors from the departments of Early Childhood Education and Child & Family Studies located in the Pusan, Ulsan, Kyung-nam areas and 88 directors and 367 teachers of both private and public kindergartes and child care centers. The research tool used for this research is a questionnaire asking the 'understandings of professors, directers and teachers about the ecology centered early childhood education' that has 48 questions including the forty cπle 5-ponts rating scale asking about each research target. The summaries of the important results of this research are listed below. First, for the understanding of the ecology system, all three research targets did not have the tendency for firmly favoring the ecology system. However, they recognize the crisis of environment and know why this crisis is occurring, Also, they have the understanding that to know why this crisis one has to know the limits of technology, the policy of the government has to be changed, and proper education has to be given. Second, to the understanding of the present early childhood education, there are some difference of understandings, but they recognized that the present early childhood education is not nature based but mostly technology based and they are not satisfied with the present system. This shows that they understand that the present technology oriented early childhood education has to be changed to the ecology early childhood education. Third, for this change to happen, new ecology centered early childhood education programs have to be made and applied, Also, the present early childhood education with the education system of promoting teachers and directors has to be changed to a whole new direction.

      • 유치원교사의 직무스트레스에 관한 탐색적 연구 : 교직원과의 갈등요인을 중심으로

        This study explored the kindergarten teachers' job stress with staffs' conflicts factors to offer exploratory data for the improvement of job satisfaction of kindergarten teachers. This study was conducted with 12 teachers at 4 kindergartens by in-depth interview about job stress Analysis of data revealed that factors related to job stress appeared to be differentiated by teachers' personal conflict factors- other teachers, principals. First, conflicts with other teachers appeared to be influenced by age, experiencc. Educational course, dbility, marriage, educational method, division of work, management of class. Second, conflicts with principals appeared to be influenced by lack of specialties in principal, principal do not reliable for teachers, do not admit the opinions of teachers, principal managed on her own authority. Third, conflicts with personnels except for other teachers and principles appeared to be influenced by their communication, opinion's difference, noncooperation.

      • 어린이집 영유아의 성장 ·발달에 관한 종단적 연구(Ⅰ)

        The purpose of this study was to investigate longitudinal growth and development of young children in child care center. The subjects of this study were 198 children(107 boys and 93 girls; 47 infants, 141 young children, 10 older children) attending a public child care center in Pusan. Instruments for this study were the KIRBS Intelligence Scale for Children(KISC, 1993) for preschoolers, KEDI-WISC(1987) for elementary schoolers, Learning Readiness Test(by KEDI, 1987) for Preschoolers, Denver Developmental Screening Test(DDSI) for infants(less than 3 years old), Teacher Rating Scale for all children. The major statistical methods for the analysis were descriptive statistics and t-test. The main findings of this study are as followings: First, there was no significant difference in the physical growth(height and weight) of young children(age 0 through 5) between boys and girls(p>.05). The significant gains of height and weight were found in the second measurement of physical growth of young children. Second, there was no significant difference in the overall cognitive development of young children(age 3 through 6) between boys and girls(p>.05). But for age 3 and 5, there was statistically significant between boys and girls in the subarea of KISC(p<.05). Significant gains of the overall cognitive development were found between the first KISC score and the second KISC score(p<.001) for all age groups. Third, there was no significant difference in the teacher rating scale for social-emotional area between boys and girls(p>.05). But it was found that chilren were older, the teacher rating score were greater. Further educational implications and suggestions were discussed.

      • 어린이집 영유아의 성장ㆍ발달에 관한 종단적 연구(Ⅱ)

        The purpose of this study was to investigate longitudinal growth and development of young children and follow-up effects of the educare program in the PNU Day Care Center. Particularly, the first objective of this second report of study was the comparison the entire domains of development with age between the Oct. of 1995 and the Dec. of 1998. The second objective was to analyze the developmental .changes of 5 children who entered the center in 4 years old since Oct. 1995. The subjects of this study were 448 children(241 boys, 207 girls). The instruments of this study were the KISC and KEDl-WISC(for intelligence test), the Learning Readiness Test, the Social and Emotional Scale, Height Scale and Weight Scale( for physical growth). The tests were carried out 2 times per year (the early of the year and the late of the year). Results from comparsion across the 1st through 7th tests during 3 years indicated that the mean of the height was increased about 1-8cm for all of 2-5 years old children. The mean of the weight also was increased about 1.5-4.0kg except 2 years old children. The intelligence score (T score) by KISC was increased around 6-42 points except 6 years old boys and girls. In the intelligence score by KEDl, there was improvements of average 8 points for 7 years old children. In the learning Readiness Test of 5, 6 years old children, the scores all of children except 6 years old girls got were decreased. The scores of 6 years old girls were incresed 6 points in the Dec. of 1998. In the Social and Emotional Scale, there was big improvement of scores between in the 1st test and in the 7th test. These results were discussed in the view of sample size, developmental characteristics, test instruments and educare program of the PNU day care center.
