A maize inbred, IK was developed by authors for developing maize hybrids with tillers. The inbred line has two to three tillers per plant under normal plant densities. The general combining abilities of the IK line has been studied and reported. But the very basic genetic nature of the tillering behavior of the IK line was not known. Therefore, the objectives of the study were to differentiate the tillering nature of the line from those of other tillering maize lines from different sources and to test allelic relationship with Tlr line reported by Neuffer and finally to map the gene responsible for the tillering of the IK line under the assumption that the gene concerned is monogenic in effect and non-allelic with previously reported Tlr gene. From the study, authors found that the tillering nature of the IK line was completely different from that of other tillering lines from Mexico and U.S., and the tillering of the IK line is controlled by single dominant gene. The gene found was temporally designated as Tlr2. Authors were also able to identify chromosomal location of the gene by means of reciprocal translocation sets of chromosome 9 involving waxy(wx) gene and the gene TIr2 was found to be located on the long arm of chromosome 3.

식용찰옥수수의 적정 저장온도를 구명하기 위하여 당함량 및 수분함량 변화를 국내에서 및 육성한 찰옥 1, 2호 및 대학찰에 대해 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 공시된 찰옥수수 교잡종의 식물학적특성은 대학찰에 비해 찰옥 1호, 2호에서 개화기가 약간 빨랐고, 이삭 길이는 찰옥 1. 2호가 짧고, 이삭 직경이 굵은 반면에 대학찰은 간장 및 이삭길이에서 다소 컷으나 이삭직경과 이삭 열수에서 낮게 나타났다. 공시된 교잡종 찰옥수수의 수확시 당도는 대학찰이 크게 높았으며, 찰옥 2호, 얼룩찰순으로 높게 나타났는데 상대적 으로 저장기간이 길수록 저장온도에 거의 무관하게 급 감소하는 경향인 반면에 수분함량의변화는 크게 변화되지 않았다. 이들 교잡종의신선도 및 고품질을 유지하기 위해서는 -4℃~ -10℃에서 저장하는 것이 유리하였다. In order to find a proper storage temperature and times for vegetable waxy corn, several waxy hibrids used in the study. Among waxy hybrids, stem height and ear length of Daehakchal and Eulrukchal hybrids were higher than Chalok#l and #2 used as a check, but flowering days were later about 7 days than check. Sugar content of Daehakchal was not almost changed at -4 ℃ and below, whereas it was rapidly decreased at 4℃. Most hybrids with high sugar content were fast converted into starch than lower content hybrid. While moisture contents of waxy hybrids used were almost constant regardless of storage temperature in vegetable corn packaged with poly ethylene vinyl. From these results, storage temperature of vegetable waxy corn was recommended at least -4℃ below. Under the -10 ℃ and below, storage period of vegetable waxy corn could prolong 60 days and above because sugar and moisture content of vegetable corn measured at -10 ℃ and -20 ℃ were almost no changed compared with those of fresh corn measured at harvest.

유색미 27개의 국내외 수집종에 대한 식물학적 및 이삭 특성을 비교 ·분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 간장은 대조구인 흑진주벼보다 대부분이 크게 나타났는데 외래종인 Denorado가 113.1cm로 가장 컸다. 분얼수, 유효분얼수에서는 대조구인 흑진주벼와 큰 차이가 없었으나 Iksan #440의 유효분얼수가 18.0으로 가장 높았다. 수장에서는 Denorado가 27.3cm로 높게 나타났고 1차지경수에서는 15.2개로 Milyang #153가 가장 높은 반면에 2차지경수에서는 Iksan #428가 39.8개로 가장 많았다. 립장은 Sinucninul이10.1mm로 가장 길었고 립폭은 흑진주벼가 2.53mm로 가장 두꺼웠다. 천립중은 Denorado가 31.449으로 가장 높았고 Ou #349가 17.15g으로 가장 낮게 나타났다. 공Al계통에 대해 Suwon#432 × Heukmi #940018의 F₁이 주당 부얼수, 수장, 1000립중에서 높은 편이었다. This study was carried out to find the botanical characters for 27 color rice genetic resources collected from domestic 17 lines (including three varieties) and exotic 10 lines. We could gain the major informations from these materials for development of color rice variety. These lines showed a various variations in characters measured. Especially, Denorado introduced from Philippine was longer in culm length, panicle length and 1,000 grains weight than others. Whereas grain length and width of Sinucninul line introduced from Japan were similar to check, Heukjinjubyo. Heterosis degree for major characteristics of Suwon#432 x Heukmi#940018 combination among F_(1) hybrids superior to others in tillers per plant, panicle length and 1,000 grains weight. Therefore, these lines and their combinations were expected as color rice developing lines through progeny test in the future.
