Purpose : This study was to examine the emotional behavioral problem of children in low-income family who were participating in local children care center. Method : From June 2 to September 9, 2008, 322 elementary school children were surveyed using structured questionnaire. Emotional behavioral problem were measured using K-YSR. Result : In the distribution of three groups by emotional behavioral problems scores of subjects, normal group was 83.23%, borderline group was 9.32%, clinical group was 7.45% among 322 children. The emotional behavioral problem score of subjects showed attention problem .62(5.61), aggressive behavior .52(9.87), anxiety and depression .50(7.89), withdrawn .49(3.46), social problem .43(3.50), somatic complaints .35(3.17), thought problem .32(2.27), delinquent behavior .31(3.11) and total behavioral problem scores were .44(44.55). Also, total behavioral problem scores was not significantly difference by sex and grade, but the scores of girls students was higher compared with boys. Conclusion : This finding will be significant in that it can provide basic data for school mental health services, which can provide early intervention program for the students who belong to borderline and clinical groups.

The future direction of the nursing science will be changed to the human science focus in quality of life of human and enhancing the understanding of the person or families` experiences as humanity lived(Parse, 1992b). Using Parse`s practice and research methodology that traditionally coincids with the ontology and the epistemology of human science meets future direction in nursing of the 21st century. Thus, this study was to inquire into the practice and research methodology coincided with the Parse`s human becoming theory. 1. Parse`s practice methodology 1) The dimensions and process of Parse`s method are: first, illuminating meaning, second, synchronizing rhythms, third, mobilizing transcendence. 2) In the using Parse`s human becoming theory in practice, it was discussed how it applies aesthetic approaching method and the art of the nursing behavior to practice. 3) In the Parse`s theory, nursing is being with true presence. Parse(1997) showed three ways to being with true presence. First, face-to-face discussion, second, silence immersion, third, lingering presence. 2. Parse`s Research Methodology Parse developed two types of research studies specially related to the human becoming theory. One type is basic research, it may be Parse`s research methodology that conducted with the goal of uncovering the structure of lived experiences to expand knowledge of the science, and may be an interpretative hermeneutic methodology that specifies the meaning of texts from the human becoming perspective(Parse, 2002). The other type is applied research, and it is the preproject-process-postproject descriptive qualitative method. The purpose of the applied research is to ascertain specific changes that emerge after initiation of the human becoming theory in practice, and also to add knowledge and understanding about the effectiveness of the human becoming theory in practice. Findings from these studies have shown that basic knowledge of the human becoming theory was expanded in practice and how human becoming theory is initiated as a guide to nursing practice (Parse, 2001).

N/A Purpose: This study was to examine the effect of the middle-school drinking-prevention program for children of alcoholics and suggest a nursing intervention program designed to help self-esteem, coping strategies, and to emotional/behavior problem for children of alcoholism. Method: This study was an equivalent control group pre-test and post-test design in quasi-experimental research. The total subjects of this study were 36 children of alcoholics(Exp.1), 41 children of social-drinker(Exp.2) & 40 children of social-drinker(Con.) residing at M-middle School in Gwangju, 117 assigned for the experimental and control group. The experimental group 1 & 2 received the middle-school drinking-prevention program, but the control group did not receive treatment. The data were collected from September, 1, 2003 to December 31, and analysed by χ²-test, ANCOVA, ANOVA, Using the SPSS 11.0 Program. Result: In the distribution of middle school students by Parents` drinking problem, social drinker group was 243(87.1%), Alcohol abuse was 29(10.4%) and alcohol dependent was 7(2.5%) among 279 students. There wasn`t significant difference in self-esteem (F=1.275, p= 0.283) by the group. But children of alcoholics was improved in self-esteem. There was a significant difference in coping strategies (F=3.499, p=0.034) by the group(F=6.165, p= 0.003)? There was a significant difference in emotional/behavior problem (F=3.499, p=0.034) by the group. Conclusion: This middle-school drinking-prevention program will be a more effective improvement of self-esteem & coping strategies and prevention of emotional/behavior problem for children of alcoholics.

N/A The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of sex education program on sex functioning and quality of life of the persons with chronic mental disorder. To achieve this purpose, nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used to 59 clients(37 experimental group, 22 control group). The subjects were selected by a convenience sampling method. The data collection was carried out in day care program of the 2 mental health center in K city and rehabilitation ward of the K psychiatric hospital in N city from March to August(10 hours) in 2003. The SAS package program was used to analyse the data along with Frequency, Percentage, x²-test, Mann Whitney U test. The results of this study were as follows; 1. The experimental group received the sex education program showed a significantly higher sex functioning score than the control group(Z=-2.109, p=0.010). 2. The experimental group received the sex education program showed a significantly higher quality of life score than the control group(Z=-4.133, p=0.001). The study showed that the sex education program was effective in changed score of sex functioning and quality of life of the persons with chronic mental disorder. Based on the results of this study, we can recommend that sex education program should be done regularly in psychosocial rehabilitation program for persons with chronic mental disorder in mental health center.
