As the load density of KEOCO system is higher, the fault current can be much higher than SCC(Short Circuit Capacity) of circuit breaker. Fault current exceeding the rating of circuit breaker is a very serious problem in high density load area, which can threaten the stability of whole power system. Even though there are several alternatives to reduce fault current, as the superconductivity technology has been developed, the HTS-FCL(High Temperature Superconductivity Fault Current Limiter) can be one of the attractive alternatives to solve the fault current problem. This study presents the application of 154kV HTS-FCL in Korean power system.

The purpose of this paper is to review and establish the semantic representation in respect to Discourse Representation Theory(DRT). The theory is aimed to explain the semantics of discourses. However, it cannot identify the meaning of discourses such as propositional anaphors and elliptical expressions. The insufficiency results from the structures of Discourse Representation Structures whose components are discourse world and conditions. In order to treat the defects. DRSs are needed to revised. In this approach we propose that propositional domain should be included in the discourse world. The domain contains propositions of the semantic representation of discourses. They can relate the propositional anaphors to their referents in DRSs without violating accessibility. Also, the proposal can deal with elliptical discourses.

Carcinoid tumors are found in less than 1 per cent of all cancer autopsy cases. Despite the rarity of these tumors their multiple manifestation have fascinated physicians, and the carcinoid syndrome often porves to be a dramatic and difficult problem in patient management. The etiology of carcinoid tumor is unknown. However the pathogenesis of the tumor is fairly well understood through studies defining the neural origin of cells of the APUD system (amine precursor uptake and decarboxylation). The work of Pearse has the unifying concept of the APUD system allowed clarification of the histogenetic basis for carcinoid tumors that occur in such diverse site as the lung, biliary tree, pancreas, stomach, duodenum, small intestine, colon, rectum, ovary, cervix, testis, thymus, kidney, and larynx. Many of the clinical and diagnostic considerations in carcinoid tumors relate to their synthesis of serotonin and other biologically active materials. Serotonin synthesis and metabolism play a key role in the understanding of this disease. The shunting of tryptophan away from its usual metabolic pathway to form niacin and protein in patients with the carcinoid syndrome. Carcinoid tumors are usually small greyish white to yellow nodules frequently encases by intact gut mucosa. The primary tumor is almost never larger than 3cm, and its submucosal location often makes it difficult to locate. A nonfunctioning carcinoid tumor is diagnosed by biopsy and histologic section. Intestinal carcinoid are difficult to diagnose prior to onset of symptoms, owing to metastatic disease. Patients preseting with the carcinoid syndrome usually have the diagnosis confirmed by measurement of the 24-hour urinary excretion of 5-HIAA. Surgical excision is the treatment of choice. Small tumors confined to the intestinal mucosa and diagnosed incidentally can be effectively treated by local excision. Because most carcinoids are slow growing, aggressive resection of bulk disease may well improve symptoms and survival. In patient with unresectable, metastatic, or recurrent carcinoid after resection, two approaches to treatment have been used. These are antihormonal measures to ameliorate symptoms caused by the production of biologically active mediators by carcinoid tumors and cytotoxic chemotherapy aimed at dest개ying tumor. Recently, the authors have experienced 2 cases of carcinoid tumor developed in the ileum and appendix respectively in the Department of Surgery, Chonbuk National University medical School, and report our experiences with a brief review of literature.

담화표상구조 내에서 문연결 : 특정성과 의미 승계를 중심으로

The purpose of this article is to identify the semantic connections between sentences. In particular, it focuses on the specificity of indefinites and the anaphoricity of anaphora. It also argues against their uniqueness hypothesis. In order to defend their anaphoricity, we propose the information discourse representation structures which include lexical meaning, specificity, and context information. Using this framework we investigate the anaphoricity in discourse representation structures. The summary of each section is as follows: In section two we review the characteristics of sentence connections. We also argue for the need for their anaphoricity. section three deals with the information discourse representation structures. It concerns with the representation of context information in detail. So we propose that specificity of indefintes be represented in the conditions of discourse referents. In section four we apply the information discourse representation structures to the information discourse structures, showing their anaphoricity. The significant discovery is in explaining sentence connections in term of anaphoricity.

본 연구의 목적은 한정표현의 조응성을 담화표상으로 어떻게 설명할 수 있는 가이다. 한정표현의 조응성을 밝히기 위해서 본 논문에서는 개체추출연산을 제안하였다. 개체추출연산을 전제담화표상에 적용하여 표면적으로 드러나지 않는 한정표현의 선행사를 밝히면 한정표현도 대명사와 마찬가지로 조응관계로 설명할 수 있다는 점을 밝혔다. The purpose of this article is to identify the semantic link of definite expressions. Kamp and Reyle tried to explain the definite descriptions by way of a uniqueness hypothesis. Their attempt, however, fails to account for the anaphoricity of the expressions. The definites can also link a potential antecedent implied in the previous words or contexts. In order to identify the anaphoricity of the definites in a unified way, I adopt an infererntial operation. It is called an individual abstraction operation in this paper, which identifies the antecedents of the anaphora. The operation is characterized as selecting pertinent antecedents from a cognitive frame formed y previous words or events. Through the operation the implicit antecedents of the definites can be identified. This can tackle the anaphoricity of the definites like other anaphoric expressions.
