PSf/D2EHPA/CNTs beads were prepared by immobilizing extractant di-(2-ethylhexyl)- phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) and adsorbent carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on polysulfone (PSf), and the adsorption characteristics of Sr(II) on the beads were studied. The morphological characteristics of the prepared PSf/D2EHPA/CNTs beads were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR). The equilibrium time for the removal of Sr(II) by PSf/D2EHPA/CNTs beads was 60 min. The experimental kinetic data followed pseudo-second-order model more than pseudo-first-order kinetics model. The maximum removal capacity of Sr(II) obtained from Langmuir isotherm was 4.75 mg/g. The removal efficiencies of Sr (II) by PSf/D2EHPA/CNTs beads were improved 2.5 times by adding the adsorbent CNTs more than by using only the extractant D2EHPA.

Purpose: To report 2 cases of Actinomyces infection in a hydroxyapatite orbital implant with a motility peg. Case summary: A 44-year-old male and a 55-year-old male who underwent evisceration and implantation of a hydroxyapatite implant in the left eye 17 and 15 years prior, respectively, presented with a conjunctival sac granuloma with discharge and bleeding of 1 year duration. Both patients had a history of motility peg implantation. A large-area of the hydroxyapatite implant was exposed after removal of the granuloma. The previous orbital implant was removed, and the exposed area was covered with a dermis fat graft in both patients. On histopathological examination, <em>Actinomyces </em>infection in the orbital implant was observed in both patients. Conclusions: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report of actinomycosis of hydroxyapatite orbital implant in Korea. In a patient with a porous orbital implant, the possibility of Actinomyces infection of the orbital implant should be considered after a long-duration and large-area exposure of the implant. 감태폐수의 송이 여과층 높이에 따른 여과속도와 용량인자에 관한 연구

This study was conducted for the efficient utilization of a scoria, which is abundantly found in Cheju island, as filtration medium and the scoria was examined for its performance in clarification of waste water extracted from a brown algae(Ecklonia cava), the main waste source of alginic acid. The smaller media and the longer HRT(hydraulic retention time) showed higher SS removal efficiency. Under the experiments of the same scoria size the SS removal efficiency was shown more effective at lower initial concentration than at higher initial concentration. The higher HRT took longer time to reach headloss 3.0 m and the accumulation of SS was suspected to have great influence on the headloss. The removal rate equation obtained from experiments was consistent with model equation. The filter capacity σ_u was 2.94-3.43 g/ℓ and clogging rate K was 2.34-2.66 ℓ/g·hr.
박스-벤켄 설계법을 이용한 폐감귤박 활성탄에 의한 수용액 중의 항생제 Trimethoprim의 흡착 연구

폐감귤박으로 제조한 활성탄(WCAC, waste citrus peel based activated carbon)에 의한 항생제 trimethoprim (TMP)의 흡착 특성을 조사하기 위해 반응표면법(RSM, response surface methodology)을 사용하여 TMP 흡착에 대한 운전인자들의 영향을 조사하였다. 농도($X_1$: 50-150 mg/L), pH ($X_2$: 4-10), 온도($X_3$: 293-323 K), 흡착제 투여량($X_4$: 0.05-0.15 g)의 4가지 입력 파라미터를 가진 4-요인 Box-Behnken 실험 설계에 따라 회분식 실험을 수행하고, 얻어진 실험 결과를 다중 회귀 분석으로 2차 다항식에 맞추고 통계적 방법을 사용하여 검토하였다. 독립 변수 및 변수들 간의 교호 작용의 유의성은 ANOVA 및 t-검정 통계기법으로 평가하였으며, 통계적 결과는 TMP 농도가 다른 요인들에 비하여 가장 많은 영향을 미치는 운전인자라는 것을 보여 주었다. 흡착공정은 유사 2차 속도식에 잘 부합하였으며, 등온흡착평형관계는 Langmuir 식이 Freundlich 식 보다 잘 부합하였다. Langmuir 등온식으로 부터 계산한 WCAC에 의한 TMP의 최대 흡착량은 293 K에서 144.9 mg/g이었다. In order to investigate the adsorption characteristics of the antibiotics trimethoprim (TMP) by activated carbon (WCAC) prepared from waste citrus peel, the effects of operating parameters on the TMP adsorption were investigated by using a response surface methodology (RSM). Batch experiments were carried out according to a four-factor Box-Behnken experimental design with four input parameters : concentration ($X_1$: 50-150 mg/L), pH ($X_2$: 4-10), temperature ($X_3$: 293-323 K), adsorbent dose ($X_4$: 0.05-0.15 g). The experimental data were fitted to a second-order polynomial equation by the multiple regression analysis and examined using statistical methods. The significance of the independent variables and their interactions was assessed by ANOVA and t-test statistical techniques. Statistical results showed that concentration of TMP was the most effective parameter in comparison with others. The adsorption process can be well described by the pseudo-second order kinetic model. The experimental data of isotherm followed the Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption amount of TMP by WCAC calculated from the Langmuir isotherm model was 144.9 mg/g at 293 K.
석탄비산재로 합성한 Na-A 제올라이트의 Ca<sup>2+</sup>와 Mg<sup>2+</sup> 이온교환 성능평가

In this study, zeolite (Z-C1) was synthesized using a fusion/hydrothermal method from coal fly ash. The morphological structures of Z-C1 were confirmed to be highly crystalline with a cubic crystal structure. Exchange capacities of Ca<sup>2+</sup> and Mg<sup>2+</sup> ions in a single and a mixed solution reached equilibrium within 120 min. The exchange kinetics of these ions were well predicted by the pseudo-second-order rate equation. The exchange isotherms of the Ca<sup>2+</sup> and Mg<sup>2+</sup> ions matched the Langmuir isotherm better than the Freundlich isotherm. The maximum cation exchange capacities (q<sub>m</sub>) obtained by the Langmuir isotherm model were 2.11 mmol/g (84.52 mg/L) and 1.13 mmol/g (27.39 mg/L) for the Ca<sup>2+</sup> and Mg<sup>2+</sup> ions, respectively.
제올라이트를 PVA로 고정화한 흡착제에 의한 Cs과 Sr 이온 제거

본 연구에서는 제올라이트를 PVA에 고정화시켜 새로운 흡착제인 PVA-Zeolite 비드를 제조하고, XRD 및 SEM 분석을 통해 제조한 PVA-Zeolite 비드는 내부에 제올라이트가 잘 고정화된 다공성 구조를 가지고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 제조한 흡착제에 의한 Cs 이온과 Sr 이온에 대한 흡착특성을 살펴보기 위하여 pH의 영향, 흡착속도, 흡착등온을 검토하였다. Sr 및 Cs 이온에 대한 평형흡착시간은 약 540 min으로 나타났으며, 흡착속도는 유사 1차 속도식 보다는 유사 2차 속도식에 더 잘 부합하였다. 흡착평형 실험결과는 Langmuir 등온식에 잘 적용되었으며, Langmuir 등온식으로부터 구한 Sr 이온과 Cs이온의 최대 흡착량은 각각 52.08 mg/g와 58.14 mg/g이었다. PVA-Zeolite 비드에 의한 Sr 이온과 Cs 이온의 흡착공정은 외부물질전달단계는 매우 빠르게 이루어지며, 내부입자확산에 의한 흡착반응은 느리게 진행되어 내부입자확산 단계가 흡착속도 결정단계인 것으로 판단된다. In this research a adsorbent, PVA-Zeolite bead, was prepared by immobilizing zeolite with PVA. The results of XRD and SEM analysis showed that the prepared PVA-Zeolite beads had porous structure and the zeolite particles were in mobilized within the internal matrix of the beads. The adsorption properties of Sr ion and Cs ion with the adsorbent were studied by different parameters such as effect of pH, adsorption rate, and adsorption isotherm. The adsorption of Sr ion and Cs ion reached equilibrium after 540 minutes. The adsorption kinetics of both ions by the PVA-Zeolite beads were fitted well by the pseudo-second-order model more than pseudo-first-order model. The equilibrium data fitted well with Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacities of Sr ion and Cs ion calculated from Langmuir isotherm model were 52.08 mg/g and 58.14 mg/g, respectively. The external mass transfer step was very fast compared to the intra-particle diffusion step in the adsorption process of Cs ion and Srion by the PVA-Zeolite beads. This result implied that the rate controlling step was the intra-particle diffusion step.
SiPM PET/CT에서 3D 프린팅 기반 자체제작한 팬텀을 이용한 iMAR 알고리즘 유용성 평가에 관한 연구

Purpose: To improve the image quality in positron emission tomography (PET), the attenuation correction technique based on the computed tomography (CT) data is important process. However, the artifact is caused by metal material during PET/CT scan, and the image quality is degraded. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate image quality according to with and without iterative metal artifact reduction (iMAR) algorithm using customized 3D printing phantom. Materials and Methods: The Hoffman and Derenzo phantoms were designed. To protect the gamma ray transmission and express the metal portion, lead substance was located to the surface. The SiPM based PET/CT was used for acquisition of PET images according to application with and without iMAR algorithm. The quantitative methods were used by signal to noise ratio (SNR), coefficient of variation (COV), and contrast to noise ratio (CNR). Results and Discussion: The results shows that the image quality applying iMAR algorithm was higher 1.15, 1.19, and 1.11 times than image quality without iMAR algorithm for SNR, COV, and CNR. Conclusion: In conclusion, the iMAR algorithm was useful for improvement of image quality by reducing the metal artifact lesion.
