This study used pine wilt disease damaged trees as raw materials The damaged woods were subjected to soaking treatment using wood vinegar, nematicide and sea water, Fumigated treatment using fumigation, and the bending strength and hardness of the timber were measured at different points of time after the treatment. In soaking treatment, the highest bending strength was obtained from wood vinegar (100 fold dilution)-soaked specimens of Pinus densiflora and the nematicide-soaked specimens of Anus tbunbergii. The highest hardness in cross section was gained from the nematicide-soaked specimens of Pin us densiflora and Anus thunbergi4 the highest hardness in radial section was obtained from the nematicide-soaked specimens of Pin us densiflora and wood vinegar (100 Fold dilution)-soaked specimens of Anus thunbergi4 and the highest hardness in tangential section was obtained from the nematicide-soaked specimens of Antis densiflora and Pinus thunbergii and there were not significantly different among the treatments. When fumigated treatment was applied, bending strength, hardness was somewhat lower in the control but were not significantly different between the treatments.

For biomass estimation of Phyllostachys pubescens stands by optimal survey method we established 9 bamboo sample plots in the research forests of KFRI (Korea Forest Research Institute). The dry weight of culm segment determined by relative heights of total bamboo height show us two groups of 1st to 5th culm segment (up to 0~55% culm of tree height from the bottom area) and 6th to 8th culm segment (55~100%) by the results of cluster analysis for dry weight ratio. This results show that upper and lower part of 55~70% reference height from the bottom area against total culm height can be used in obtaining 1 kg of a sample bamboo, respectively, rather than 2.0 m stem segments of other forest tree species. In above-ground biomass estimation by W=aD+bD2 having the highest coefficient of determination in this study, above ground stand biomass was 57.77 ton/ha (culm 40.47 ton/ha, branch 9.29 ton/ha, and leaf 8.01 ton/ha) of which 70% was contributed by culm component followed by branch (16%) and leaf (14%). Below-ground biomass was 53.35 ton/ha in total.
노거수 및 보호수 왕버들 삽목증식에 미치는 상토의 영향

Old growth and protected-trees are worth history and culturally in Korea. This research carried out to investigate habitat characterization and the vegetative propagation methods of Salix chaenomeloides(100-600 years old trees) in Gyeongsangnamdo Province. It has been preserved in good and grow naturally in area surrounding village(4 trees), riverside(1 tree) and field(1 tree). Cutting from old growth and protected trees was conducted using 10 kinds of bedsoils. It was survived above 93% in all bedsoils. Growth of cuttings is a distinct difference according to bedsoils and tree ages. Growth of cutting was high on CBS, followed mixed bedsoils (VPMP) including vermiculite, peatmoss and perlite. Root collar diameter was difference depend on tree ages and bedsoils. All trees are produced 1 to 4 branch. Root growth of cutting was 20 cm on CBS and VPMP, which is the best shoot growing on cutting. Bedsoil with physico-chemical characteristics of high moisturizing ability, high air permeability, high EC value and slightly acid may be suitable for efficiently cutting propagation of old growth and protected S. chaenomeloides. CBS and VPMP bedsoil are favorable for propagating this species by cuttings.
