In this study, various aero-acoustic simulation techniques are categorized and compared in the point ot effectiveness, accuracy, and required computational time. And CCA(Computational Aero-Acoustics) method which directly calculate the acoustic signature at receiver form the results of high accuracy unsteady computational fluid dynamics applied to the noise prediction of pump room fan hull duct of 320K TDW Crude Oil Tanker. From the predicted noise spectrum, a similar frequency component to the measurement results on the ship can be found. And from the comparison of velocity magnitude distribution and predicted noise spectra at the exit of hull duct for the port and sto’d side, it was verified that vortex generated by the tips of stiffener generates this noise component. And similar results can bee seen from the distributions of vorticity for port and stb’d side hull duct.

Various type of rotary unions are widely used to provide fluids between rotating parts. To prevent fluid leakage, most of the rotary unions adopt mechanical seals which is highly reliable but too expensive and complicate. In this paper, a simple lip seal system made of PTFE is adopted in designing of a compact rotary union. Using MARC, the behavior characteristics of lip seal are investigated for seal mounting process, and obtained variations of contact pressure distribution and contact width with interferences and fluid pressures. The results showed that contact width are increased with interference and pressure. The maximum contact pressure are also increased up to a certain interference and pressure, however, then decreased. The numerical methods and results can be applied in designing and performance improvement of lip seal adopted rotary union, and further extensive studies are required.

In this paper, a CFD(computational fluid dynamics) code, FLUENT is adopted to investigate accurate flow characteristics for a slipper bearing which is used swash plate type hydraulic axial piston pump Static pressure and velocity distributions, and velocity vectors are plotted for different film thickness and slipper rotational velocity. In recess region, there exists a doughnut shaped vortex, and the flow fields are highly asymmetrical under slipper rotation. Therefore the numerical method adopted in this paper can be use in design of hydrostatic components and further studies are required.

CNG(Compressed natural gas) fuel supply line whose main components are receptacle and check valve are necessary to charge high pressure gas to the tank of NGV(Natural gas vehicle). In this paper, in order to investigate the reasons of seal departure form valve seat and blockage of gas flow within check valve, the MARC software is used to solve the non-linear problem. Deformed seal shapes are obtained for various amounts of seal interference and its location, and gas charging pressure. The results showed that the reasons of seal departure problems are verified and suggested a new design method.

In CNG (Compressed natural gas) fuel supply line, whose main components are receptacle and check valve are used to charge high pressure gas to the tank of NGV (Natural gas vehicle). It is reported that the seal is separated occasionally form valve seat and results in blockage of gas flow. In this paper, MARC is used to investigate the reasons of seal separation and suggest design improvements. The static gas pressure distributions acting on the seal which calculated using FLUENT are considered to investigate accurate seal deformation behaviors. Deformed seal shapes are obtained for various amounts of seal interference and its location, gas pressure distributions and Young's modulus of the rubber used. The results showed that the reasons of seal separation problems are verified theoretically, and suggested examples of new design method. Therefore the present numerical methods can be applied in designing and performance analysis of rubber seals adopted in high pressure fluid machineries.
간섭량에 따른 로터리 유니온용 립 시일의 거동특성 해석

Rotary unions are widely used rotating machine components in fluid machinery. Because the fluid leakage in sealing part can lead to fatal defect on equipments, it is essential to understand the precise behaviors of the seal used. In this paper, a lip seal made of PTFE is designed and the behavior characteristics are investigated using MARC for various amounts of interference and fluid pressure. The seal deformation and contact areas are increased with interference and pressure, however the maximum contact pressure showed different behaviors. The results can be used in design of rotary union and further studies are required.
