Safety of Chamber Exterior Wall Ground

유예빈,김시준,이영석,조철희,성인호,정원녕,최민수,최병엽,유신재 한국진공학회 2022 Applied Science and Convergence Technology Vol.31 No.5

Typically, the exterior wall of a chamber is grounded for safety reasons when experimenting with radio frequency (RF) power. However, RF current does not flow in a closed loop connected to the ground line on the exterior wall of the chamber because it flows in a path with a small area. Furthermore, if magnetic gradient fields are present around the chamber, they may affect whether the chamber ground is present. Because magnetic gradient fields may be generated by peripheral equipment in a typical experimental environment, analyzing the effect of the chamber ground on peripheral equipment is crucial. However, the study on the effect of chamber grounding on the time variation of peripheral magnetic fields remains open. Through simulations, this study confirms that the RF current does not flow along the ground line, even if the exterior wall of the chamber is grounded. Moreover, safety according to the presence or absence of exterior wall grounding of the chamber is discussed when a magnetic gradient field is generated.

식물 추출물을 기반한 포스트바이오틱스 개발 전략

        김경천,오수지,권현준,유예빈,정근수,이원준,신학동 한국식품과학회 2023 식품과학과 산업 Vol.56 No.1

Postbiotics, the metabolites produced by probiotics, have received attention in recent years due to their potential health benefits, including immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects. Plant extracts have been identified as a promising source of postbiotics, and the development of postbiotics using plant extracts has become an attractive area in the related fields. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge on postbiotics, their health benefits, and the potential of plant extracts as a source of bioactive compounds for postbiotic development. We present potential candidate strains for postbiotics among probiotics with confirmed health functionality. We also propose a development strategy for postbiotics using functional plant extracts. Finally, we explore the potential of postbiotics based on the Microbiome-Gut-Brain axis, which has recently received attention. This review provides an overview of the potential of plant extracts as a source of postbiotics, along with a development strategy for their application in functional foods and supplements.

Establishment of Patient-Derived Organoids Using Ascitic or Pleural Fluid from Cancer Patients

        최원영,김윤희,우상명,유예빈,이미림,이우진,천정원,심성훈,채희정,심효은,이근석,공선영 대한암학회 2023 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.55 No.4

Purpose Patient-derived tumor cells can be a powerful resource for studying pathophysiological mechanisms and developing robust strategies for precision medicine. However, establishing organoids from patient-derived cells is challenging because of limited access to tissue specimens. Therefore, we aimed to establish organoids from malignant ascites and pleural effusions. Materials and Methods Ascitic or pleural fluid from pancreatic, gastric, and breast cancer patients was collected and concentrated to culture tumor cells ex vivo. Organoids were considered to be successfully cultured when maintained for five or more passages. Immunohistochemical staining was performed to compare the molecular features, and drug sensitivity was assayed to analyze the clinical responses of original patients. Results We collected 70 fluid samples from 58 patients (pancreatic cancer, n=39; gastric cancer, n=21; and breast cancer, n=10). The overall success rate was 40%; however, it differed with types of malignancy, with pancreatic, gastric, and breast cancers showing 48.7%, 33.3%, and 20%, respectively. Cytopathological results significantly differed between successful and failed cases (p=0.014). Immunohistochemical staining of breast cancer organoids showed molecular features identical to those of tumor tissues. In drug sensitivity assays, pancreatic cancer organoids recapitulated the clinical responses of the original patients. Conclusion Tumor organoids established from malignant ascites or pleural effusion of pancreatic, gastric, and breast cancers reflect the molecular characteristics and drug sensitivity profiles. Our organoid platform could be used as a testbed for patients with pleural and peritoneal metastases to guide precision oncology and drug discovery.

Computational Analysis on Self-Resonance Frequency of Solenoid and Planar Inductor

최민수,김시준,이영석,조철희,성인호,정원녕,유예빈,최병엽,설유빈,유신재 한국진공학회 2023 Applied Science and Convergence Technology Vol.32 No.2

Despite the importance of self-resonance frequency (SRF) in the operation of inductors, which is only effective below the SRF, a comprehensive analysis of the SRF in different inductor structures has yet to be conducted. This work employs a three-dimensional electromagnetic wave simulation to analyze SRF in the both solenoid and planar inductor structures with various inductor structure parameters such as the number of turns, radius, and inter-coil distance. We summarize the behavior of the SRF with these parameters. This result is valuable for radio-frequency engineering applications.
