With the development of IT (Information Technology) technology, embedded system and network technology are combined and used in various environments such as military environment as well as everyday life. In this paper, we propose a new airdropped distributed mobility model (ADMM) modeling the dispersion falling of the direct shot of a cluster bomb, and we compare and analyze some representative MANET routing protocols in ADMM in ns-3 simulator. As a result of the analysis, we show OLSR routing protocol is promising in ADMM environment in the view points of packet delivery ratio (PDR), end to end delay, and jitter. In addition, we propose a new adaptation scheme for OLSR, AND-OLSR (Average Node Distance based adaptive-OLSR) to improve the original OLSR in ADMM environment. The new protocol calculates the average node distance, adapts the period of the control message based on the average node distance increasing rate. Through the simulation study, we show that the proposed AND-OLSR outperforms the original OLSR in PDR and control message overhead.

This paper proposes an approach using taxonomic relatedness for answer-type recognition and type coercion in a question-answering system. We introduce a question analysis method for a lexical answer type (LAT) and semantic answer type (SAT) and describe the construction of a taxonomy linking them. We also analyze the effectiveness of type coercion based on the taxonomic relatedness of both ATs. Compared with the rule-based approach of IBM’s Watson, our LAT detector, which combines rule-based and machine-learning approaches, achieves an 11.04% recall improvement without a sharp decline in precision. Our SAT classifier with a relatedness-based validation method achieves a precision of 73.55%. For type coercion using the taxonomic relatedness between both ATs and answer candidates, we construct an answer-type taxonomy that has a semantic relationship between the two ATs. In this paper, we introduce how to link heterogeneous lexical knowledge bases. We propose three strategies for type coercion based on the relatedness between the two ATs and answer candidates in this taxonomy. Finally, we demonstrate that this combination of individual type coercion creates a synergistic effect.

This paper presents a lower-limb exoskeleton testbed and its control method. An exoskeleton is a wearable robotic system that can enhance wearer's muscle power or assist human's movements. Among a variety of its applications, especially for military purpose, a wearable robot can be very useful for carrying heavy loads during locomotion by augmenting soldiers' mobility and endurance. The locomotion test on a treadmill was performed up to maximum 4km/h walking speed wearing the lower-limb exoskeleton testbed with a 45kg backpack load.
