Objectives : Recently, the demands for the effective and safe depigmentating and anti-aging agents of the skin have increased due to the medical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic reasons. The aim of this study is to search new materials from the traditional herbal medicines which inhibit the aging process of skin in vitro.Methods : Human dermis cell (HS68) was used to test the effect of Rhus verniciflua Stokes (RVS). 80% ethanol or water extracts were screened for their inhibitory activities against elastase. Elastase inhibition effect was tested by microplate reader instrument. And MMP-1 suppression effect of RVS was tested by western blot. These cells were investigated the viability by MTS assay. And also the inhibition effect of tyrosinase by RVS was tested.Results : RVS (final concentrstion 1 ㎎/㎖ appeared over 30% of inhibition of elastase activity. So we are investigated anti wrinkle effects of Rhus verniciflua Stokes look through MMP-1 inhibition activity, also Extracts of RVS showed higher anti-tyrosinase activity than arbutin as final concentration 1 mg/ml. These results suggest that herbal medicines could be strong potential sources of inhibition of anti-aging and whitening effects for the skin.Colclusions : RVS was the best suppressor candidate of elastase activity among other control oriental drugs. It was found that RVS did not have toxicity to cells. We found proper concentration of RVS to treat in HS68 culture and investigated not only wrinkle care effect but also whitening effect of RVS.
임신 34 - 36 주의 조산 : 과연 위험한 것인가 ?

Objective : We performed this study to determine the safety and danger of preterm delivery at gestational age 34-36 weeks through antenatal profiles, neonatal conditions, neonatal morbidities. Methods : We reviewed our antenatal and neonatal data between December 1999 and April 2001 to determine the morbidities of infants delivered at gestational age 34-36 weeks using χ2test and Fisher's exact test. Results : 1. Mean age was 30.8±4.58yrs and mean gravida was 2.68±1.56. Preterm premature rupture of membrane was higher in preterm delivery at gestational age 34 and 35weeks(respectively 58.6%, 50%). There was no difference in using tocolytics but, antenatal steroid treatment for prevention of respiratory distress syndrome(RDS) was most frequent in gestational age 34weeks.(20.68%) 2. There was no difference in the risk factor of preterm labor at each group. 3. 1-minute Apgar score<7 was significantly more frequent in neonates at gestational age 34weeks but neonatal weight and meconium staining were not different. 4. The rate of neonatal intensive care unit(NICU) admission was significantly higher in neonates delivered at gestational age 34weeks(93.1%), and RDS occurred in 3 cases delivered at gestational age 34weeks(10.34%). 2 cases delivered at gestational age 34 weeks needed the use of ventilator. Conclusion : Our study shows significant differences in neonatal morbidities between 34weeks and the others. In particular, all cases of Respiratory distress syndrome(n=3) occur in neonates delivered at 34weeks gestation not receiving antenatal steroid treatment and neonatal morbidities at 35 and 36weeks of gestation were not different with full term gestation.

Triazole fungicides occupy an important portion in the global fungicide market and are relatively persistent in soil compared to the other fungicides, suggesting possible adverse effects of the fungicides on human health and environment. In this study, we tried to isolate microorganisms from orchard soils, which can decompose the triazole fungicides, tebuconazole, fluquinconazole, and difenoconazole. Only difenoconazole was completely degraded in the enrichment culture, from which several difenoconazole-degrading bacteria were isolated. They showed the same rep-PCR pattern thus only one strain, C8-2, was further studied. The strain was identified as Sphingomonas sp. C8-2 based on its 16S rRNA gene sequence and decomposed 100 mg/L of difenoconazole in a minimum medium to an unknown metabolite with a molecular weight of 296 within 24 hours. The inhibition effect of the metabolite against representative soil microorganisms significantly decreased compared to that of difenoconazole thus the bacterial strain is expected to be used for the detoxification of difenoconazole in soil and crop.
유기염소계 살충제 엔도설판이 토양세균 군집에 미치는 영향 평가

Although a global ban on the use of endosulfan, an organochloline insecticide, has taken effect in mid-2012, it has been still used in several countries, including India and China, and detected in diverse environments in the world due to its relative persistence and semi-volatility. In this study, the effect of endosulfan on soil bacterial community was investigated using 16S rRNA gene pyrosequencing method. When endosulfan was applied to an upland soil at a rate of 100 mg/kg soil (ES soil), the number of operational taxonomic units (OTU) and diversity indices for bacteria initially decreased and gradually recovered to the level of the non-treated soil (NT soil) during an eight-week incubation period. At bacterial phylum level, relative abundances of Proteobacteria and Verrucomicrobia were higher while those of Chloroflexi and Spirochaetes were lower in the ES soil than in the NT soil, suggesting that an endosulfan application affects the bacterial community structure in soil. In the ES soil, the relative abundances of the OTUs affiliated to the genera Sphingomonas and Burkholderia increased in the initial period of incubation while those affiliated to the genera Pseudonocardia and Opitutus increased in the late period of incubation. Because the first three genera contain bacterial strains reported to degrade endosulfan, they are expected to be involved in the degradation of endosulfan, probably one after another.

In order to determine the possibility of using NDGPS signals for flight operations, in-flight measurements of signals transmitted from various ground reference stations(RS) were conducted along the air routes of South Korea. Signal strength and signal to noise ratio(SNR) data were collected along domestic flight routes and recorded with time. By using three-dimensional geographical position data of the aircraft, signal strength data of en-route position were calculated and used to obtain scatter-plot of signal strength. These results were used to outline the effective coverage and field strength hemispheres of the selected DGPS signals.

Soil microbial communities are immensely diverse and complex with respect to species richness and community size. These communities play essential roles in agricultural soil because they are responsible for most of the nutrient cycles in the soil and influence the plant diversity and productivity. However, the majority of these microbes remain uncharacterized because of poor culturability. Next-generation sequencing techniques have revolutionized many areas of biology by providing cheaper and faster alternatives to Sanger sequencing. Among them, amplicon pyrosequencing is a powerful tool developed by 454 Life Sciences for assessing the diversity of complex microbial communities by sequencing PCR products or amplicons. This review summarizes the current opinions in amplicon sequencing of soil microbial communities, and provides practical guidance and advice on sequence quality control, aligning, clustering, OTU- and taxon-based analysis. The last section of this article includes a few representative studies conducted using amplicon pyrosequencing.

Retransmission battles between broadcast television and multichannel video programming providers(MVPD) including cable television systems and direct-broadcast satellite are taking place frequently. Korean Broadcasting Law clarifies that retransmission of channels not subject to compulsory retransmission(or non-‘must carry’ channels) requires agreement between broadcasters and MPVDs. This article reviews retransmission rules and provisions under Korean Broadcasting Law, how to regulate retransmission battles when the disputes do harm competition of the market, whether retransmission rules are in line with market principle by looking into retransmission battle cases.
