Enzymatic Hydrolysis of$\beta$-Lactam Esters by PLE
Shim Young Key,Shim Joong-Youn,Cho Young Soon,Kim Wan Joo Korean Chemical Society 1989 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.10 No.1
Pig Liver Esterase (PLE) which has been known to cleave a broad range of diesters to prepare stereoselective enantiomers is applied to hydrolysis of ${\beta}-lactam$ esters imparting the corresponding acids in various yields.
Vol.32 No.3
4-Aryl-1, 4-dihydropyridines(DHP) derived from Hantsch type condensation of aromatic aldehydes with aminocrotonates and acetoacetic esters are studied as calcium channel blocking drugs. New DHP derivatives containing alkenyl ester show fairly good cardiovascular activity in mice. Preparation of the DHP derivatives and their major biological activity are presented along with their physical data.
Vol.32 No.2
A novel synthetic route to 1,4-dihydropyridine mono carboxylic acid derivatives is described. Allyl methyl 2,6-dimethyl-4-(3'-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine-3, 5-dicarboxylate (IV) was treated with $Pd(OAc)_2$ in dioxane for 30 min at 110$^{\circ}C$ with reflux to give the mono acid compound(V) in 94% yield. The mono acid intermediate was converted to 2-(N-benzyl-N-methylamino)ethyl methyl 2,6-dimethyl-4-(3'-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine-3, 5-dicarboxylate (VII) (Nicardipine) and their derivatives in 70~85% yield.

Evolutionary theory might be responsible for the modern morality which makes the present human society corruptive and destructive. Scientifically speaking, most of the so-called evolutionary mechanisms are not supported widely by experimental evidences and physical laws. The nature should be understood not only by the component itself but by a whole system. The relationship between organisms represents that the whole nature was equilibrated perfectly within living things as well as non-living things from the very beginning. The teleological examples as the evidences of the perfect creation in the biological world will be presented.
