Four Species of Copepoda (Poecilostomatoida) Parasitic on Marine Fishes of Korea

한국산 해산어류 3종에서 기생성 요각류 4종이 채집되었다. 이곳에 Acanthochondria 속의 3종(A. brevicorpa Yu, A. tchangi Yu와 A. yui Shiino)과 Anchistrotos kojimensis Do & Ho를 재기재한다. 이들은 모두 한국미기록종이다. Four known species of the copepod parasite were recovered from three marine fishes of Korea. It contains redescription of three species of Acanthochondria(A. brevicorpa Yu, A. tchangi Yu and A. yui Shiino) and Anchistrotos kojimensis Do & Ho. All of these species are newly recorded from the Korean waters.

1990년 4월부터 1991년 3월까지 1년 동안 우리나라 연안에 널리 분포하는 저서어류인 문절망둑(Acanthogobius flavimanus)에 기생하는 요각류 Acanthochondria yui이 출현 및 감염 수준의 월변동을 조사하였다. A. yui는 9월${\sim}12$월(4개월)은 나타나지 않았다. 감염률은 1월에 $2.9\%$에서 6월에 $88.9\%$까지 증가하였다. 상대 감염밀도와 평균 감염강도 역시 1월에서 6월까지 증가하였다. A. yui의 감염률은 숙주의 크기에 비례하여 높아졌다. 4월과 5월에 채집된 문절망둑에서 CIV와 CV 유생이 약간 발견되었고 $CI{\sim}CIII$ 유생은 전혀 발견되지 않았다. 이것은 문절망둑이 A. yui의 유일한 숙주가 아닐 수도 있음을 보여준다. A. yui의 암컷 성체와 copepodid기 유생은 각각 아가미 활($74.8\%$)과 아가미필라멘트($80.6\%$)에서 대부분 발견되었다. 이것은 copepodid기 유생이 숙주에서 가장 적합한 부착부위로 아가미 필라멘트를 선택하였고, 성체가 되면서 아가미 활로 이동하는 데 기인하는 것으로 여겨진다. Monthly changes in the occurrence and infection levels of a parasitic copepod Acanthochondria yui(Poecilostomatoida, Chondracanthidae) on a gobiid fish Acanthogobius flavimanus were studied for a year from April 1990 to March 1991. This parasite was not found on the fish for four months from September to December. Prevalence of the parasite increased from $2.9\%$ in January to $88.9\%$ in June. Relative density and mean intensity also increased from January to June. Prevalence of A. yui increased with host size. A. flavimanus samples were never found carrying A. yui larvae of three copepodid stages(CI to CIII), although a few CIV and CV larvae were identified from April and May samples. This indicates that A. flavimanus was not the sole host of A. yui. Adult females and copepodites of A. yui were usually found in the gill arch($74.8\%$) and gill filament($80.6\%$), respectively. This suggests that copepodites select the gill filament as the most suitable place on their host A. flavimanus, and the adult females move toward the gill arch.

We investigated the optimal concentration of lidocaine and MS-222 (tricaine methanesulfonate) for the exfoliation and recovery of abalone, Haliotis discus hannai in different shell lengths, for the purpose of preventing the damage of shell and muscle. However, most anaesthetics applied at present have a strong toxic effect on abalone. MS-222 is the only anaesthetic which is approved for use in food fish by FDA, and lidocaine belongs to a group of anaesthetic which are used in human medicine. These chemicals were evaluated as anaesthetic for different shell size of abalone. The response varied for different shell size groups (shell length 1, 2 and 3 ㎝). In this study, we suggested the result that the exfoliation and recovery time by lidocaine and MS-222 in shell length 1 ㎝ group were more shorter than in 3 ㎝ group. In shell length 1 ㎝ group, the optimal concentrations of lidocaine and MS-222 for anaesthetic were 200 ppm and 100 ppm, respectively. Lidocaine and MS-222 are preferable to other conventional abalone anaesthetics since these are cheap, safe and convenient to use.

Two species of the copepod parasite were observed from two marine fishes in Korea. A siphonostomatoid copepod Neobrachiella incurva (Shiino, 1956) (Lernaeopodidae) and a cyclopoid copepod Peniculus ostraciontis Yamaguti 1939 (Lernaeidae) were found on the gills of Halichoeres poecilopterus and the fins of Sebastes schlegeli, respectively. The most distinct features of N. incurva are bipartite of maxillule, 2 ventro-posterior processes and conical genital process. P. ostraciontis is very distinguishable in the body shape, antenna, and fused trunk. Both species of copepods are newly observed from the Korean waters.

한국산 어류 2종(농어, 병어)에서 기생성 요각류 2종이 채집되었다. 이 논문에 Nothobomolochus (Poecilostomatoida, Bomolochidae)속의 2종 N. lateolabracis (Yamaguti and Yamasu)와 N. triceros (Basset-Smith)을 재기재한다. 이들은 모두 한국 미기록종이며, N. lateolabracis와 N. triceros는 각각 농어와 병어에 기생한다. Two species of the parasitic copepod were recovered from two Korean fishes, Lateolabrax japonicus (Cuvier and Valenciennes) and Pampus argenteus (Euphrasen) taken from Yosu Bay, Korea. The present paper contains redescription of two species of Nothobomolochus of Bomolochidae. Both species, N. lateolabracis (Yamaguti and Yamasu) and N. triceros (Basset-Smith), are newly recorded from the Korean water. N. lateolabracis and N. triceros were found on the L. japonicus and P. argenteus, respectively.
