Setting behavior of spandex yarn in heat treatments for the anti-crease treatment of knit fabric made of cotton/spandex 2-ply yarn was investigated. Three different methods, i.e., dry-heat treatment, hot water treatment, and steam treatment, were used to set the spandex yarns. Setting properties were measured via length changes of the treated samples. Tensile strength retention and elongation of the treated samples were also measured. The results indicate that length changes of the samples treated with hot water and steam are larger than that treated with dry heat due to the presence of moisture. The length change of spandex yarns increases with increasing treatment temperature, time and extension. Among the three factors, extension has the most significant effect on the setting behavior. Spandex yarn set at a certain condition can be set again if it is treated under more severe conditions. Tensile strength and elongation of spandex yarn decrease with increasing length change.

Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) films were reacted with four amine compounds (hydrazine, ethylenediamine (EDA), diethylenetriamine (DETA), and triethylenetetramine (TETA)) in various concentrations of aqueous N,N'-dimethylformamide (DMF) to produce highly hydrophilic films that maintain their shape during and after modification. Add-on's (increases in weight) and amine contents (moles of amine groups per g sample) of the amino-modified PAN films were compared. Add-on's increased in an order of hydrazine, TETA, DETA, EDA when PAN reacted with equimolar concentration of the four amines, while the amine content increased in an order of TETA, DETA, hydrazine, and EDA. Although EDA produced a film with high add-on and amine content, it made the modified film highly swollen and soluble in the reaction medium. Among the four amines, hydrazine resulted in the highest amine content and moisture regain. Moisture regain as high as 23.0% was obtained when 1.2 M hydrazine was used. The moisture regains of the modified PAN films increased linearly depending on the amine content.

In this study, we synthesized the chalcogenide glass($Ge_{19}Sb_{23}Se_{58}$) for infrared optics by meltquenching method and verified the effect of cooling condition on the glass properties. The structural and optical properties of the glass were analyzed by XRD, FT-IR and SEM image. The glass synthesized under the cooling temperature of $980^{\circ}C$ shows transmittance of 58% at $8\sim12{\mu}m$, which was decreased as the cooling temperature was decreased. In addition, thermal and hardness also were measured. From the analysis results, we ascertained the feasibility as a molding materials for infrared optics.

The introduction of cross-linking into polyacrylonitrile (PAN) films with hydrazine solutions in a reaction medium of various concentrations of aqueous N,N'-dimethylformamide (DMF) solution was studied. The effect of the DMF concentration in the reaction medium, hydrazine concentration, reaction temperature, and time on the hydrazine addon and the degree of DMF swelling was investigated. The swelling in the DMF decreased with an increase in the hydrazine add-on, indicating that the modified PAN films became insoluble and swollen in the DMF. Although all the reaction conditions affected the hydrazine add-on, a high temperature of $110^{\circ}C$ in a 60 % (v/v) aqueous DMF solution with a 6 % (w/v) hydrazine solution resulted in more effective cross-linking at the same hydrazine add-on values. Analysis of the FTIR and UV-Visible spectra confirmed the introduction of the hydrazine cross-linking. The crystallinity of the modified PAN film reduced with increasing hydrazine cross-linking.
여러 가지 수용액에서의 폴리아크릴로니트릴 필름의 팽윤이 히드라진과의 반응에 미치는 영향

Swelling behaviors of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) films in various aqueous solutions, such as N,N'-dimethylformamide (DMF)/water, N,N'-dimethylacetamide (DMAc)/water, dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO)/water, NaSCN or KSCN solution, the effects of the concentrations of these solutions, and the effects of swelling temperature and time on the degree of swelling of PAN films were analyzed. Among the various aqueous solutions, DMF and NaSCN solution were found to be effective for high swelling of PAN films. High swelling of PAN films in the hydrazine solutions wherein aqueous, organic solvents or salt solutions were used as solvents for hydrazine, resulted in higher absorption of hydrazine and a high degree of cross-linking. Analysis of the bands of FT-IR spectra and the cyclization peaks of DSC curves for various hydrazine-treated PAN films showed that the effective cross-linking of PAN films at the same hydrazine concentration was obtained by using DMF/water or NaSCN/water solutions as solvents for hydrazine and treating medium for PAN films.
