In this study, the numerical simulation regarding the process and characteristics of topography change due to the vegetation recruitment and growth was carried out by adding the vegetation growth model to two-dimensional flow and sediment transport models. The vegetation introduction and recruitment on the condition for developing an alternate bar reduced the bar migration. The vegetated area and channel width changes were more significantly influenced by changes in upstream discharge rather than the duration of low flow. When the upstream discharge decreased, the vegetation area increased and the channel width decreased. The vegetation introduction and recruitment on the condition for developing a braided channel significantly influenced the characteristics of topography changes. In the braided channel, vegetation reduced the braided index, and when the upstream discharge decreased significantly, the channel topography was changed from the braided channel to the single channel. The vegetation area decreased as the upstream discharge increased. The channel width decreased significantly after the vegetation was introduced and it also decreased as the upstream discharge decreased. It was confirmed through the numerical simulation that a decrease in flood discharge accelerated the vegetation introduction and recruitment in the channel and this allowed to confirm its influence on the characteristics of topography changes qualitatively. 본 연구에서는 2차원 흐름/유사이동 모형에 식생생장모형을 추가하여 하도의 식생 활착 및 성장에 의한 지형변화 과정과 특성을 수치모의 하였다. 교호사주가 발달하는 조건에서 식생 이입 및 활착은 사주의 이동을 감소시켰다. 식생면적 및 하폭의 변화는 저유량 지속시간보다 상류유량 변화에 더 크게 영향을 받았다. 상류유량이 감소하면 식생면적은 증가하고 하도폭은 감소하였다. 망상하도가 발달하는 조건에서 하도내 식생 이입 및 활착은 지형변화 특성에 크게 영향을 미쳤다. 망도하도에서 식생은 망상의 수를 감소시키고 결국 상류유량이 크게 감소하면 하도지형을 망상하도에서 단일수로로 변화시켰다. 식생면적은 상류유량이 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 하도폭은 식생 도입 후 급격히 줄어들었고 상류유량 감소와 함께 감소하였다. 수치모의를 이용하여 홍수량 감소가 하도 내의 식생 이입 및 활착을 가속시키고 이로 인해 하도변화 특성에 미치는 영향을 정성적으로 확인할 수 있음을 보였다.
하천식생 이입 현상에 대한 수문현상 변화와 영양염류 영향의 예비 검증

본 연구는 비 조절하천에서 식생 이입 및 활착 현상에 대해 봄철 강수특성 변화에 따른 식생영향 가설과 질소화합물의 하천유입에 따른 식생영향 가설을 일차적으로 검증하는 것이다. 첫 번째 가설을 검증하기 위해 국내하천에 대해 갈대와 달뿌리풀의 발아기, 유식물기인 3-5월의 강우특성 변화를 분석하였다. 그 결과 최근 35년 동안 연 총 강수량은 약 15% 늘어난 반면에 3-5월의 강수량은 오히려 약 15% 이상 감소한 것으로 나타나서 이러한 가설을 부분적으로 뒷받침하였다. 두 번째 가설을 검증하기 위해 한 쌍의 실험수로에 갈대를 식재 하고 여름 기간 동안 갈대성장을 관찰한 결과 질소화합물이 3.5 mg/L 정도 함유된 오염수를 주기적으로 흘린 수로의 경우 그렇지 않은 경우보다 약 30% 이상 갈대성장이 높은 것을 확인하였다. 비록 강우량 분석 결과와 식생수로 실험결과는 제한된 범위 내에서 수행된 것이지만 국내 비 조절 중소하천의 초본류 번무현상을 일부 설명할 수 있을 것이다. In this study, two hypotheses were examined to preliminarily verify for the vegetation recruitment and establishment on riparian bars in unregulated rivers; hydrologic regime change and nutrients influx into streams. In order to preliminarily verify the first hypothesis, precipitation patterns were analyzed during a period from March through to May when reeds, the most common riparian vegetation in Korea, germinate and start to grow in riparian areas. The results show that during the last 35 years, the total precipitation during the three-month period decreased by about 15 %, while the total annual one increased by about 15% in Korea. In order to verify the second hypothesis, a preliminary experiment was conducted with a set of two-vegetative flumes for one year. In this experiment, a stream flow with reeds on the riparian sand bars was simulated with a flume with reeds planted on the sand bed and water with a concentration of 3.5 mg of N flowing in the flume for four hours. For comparison, clean water was circulated in the same way in another flume for simulating a stream flow without N. The experimental results show that the growth rate of reeds in N-mixed flow exceeds that in clean water flow by about 30%. The above two results could explain the phenomenon of change in unregulated rivers from white river to green river in Korea, although they were obtained through limited extents of analysis and experiment.

The authors had analysed retrospectively a series of 286 consecutive patients with head injury who were admitted to the department of neurosurgery. Dong Gang Hospital between March and July, 1992. 59 cases underwent craniotomy for evacuation ofintracranial hematoma and/or placement of subarachnoid bolt for intracranial pressure monitoring under general anesthesia. Patients with a Glasgow Coma Scale(GCS) Score of 8 or less had significantly higher serum glucose levels postoperatively than patients with GCS score of 12 to 15(p<0.05). Patients who subsequently remained in a vegetative state or died had significantly higher glucose levels postoperatively than patients who had good outcome or moderate diasbility(p<0.05). Among the more severely injured paients(GCS Score≤8), a serum glucose level greater than 200㎎/㎗ on admission is associated with a significantly worse outcome(p<0.05). The results suggest that severely head-injured patients frequently showed hyperglycemia and the elevted serum glucose level may worsen the neurological outcome in such patients.
