아크릴산(Acrylic acid, AA) 저장 중 자발적으로 생성되는 diacrylic acid (DAA) 생성변화를 연구하였다. 0.12~19.9 wt%의 수분을 함유하고, 중합금지제로 70~300 ppm의 p-methoxyhydroquinone (MEHQ)을 함유한 AA을 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 ℃ incubator에서 90일 동안 저장하였다. DAA 함량은 가스크로마토그래피로 분석하였는데 DAA 생성속도는 수분함량과 온도가 증가함에 따라 증가하였고, 온도가 수분보다 더 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 이 결과를 토대로 DAA 생성량을 예측할 수 있는 실험 속도식을 얻었다. Spontaneous formation of diacrylic acid (DAA) in bulk acrylic acid (AA) has been investigated. Sample of AA containing 0.12~19.9 wt% levels of water and 70~300ppm p-methoxyhydroquinone (MEHQ) were stored at constant temperatures of 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 ℃ up to 90days. The samples were then analyzed for acid composition by gas chromatography. The rate of DAA formation increased with increasing both water content and temperature, in which the latter had the greater effect. Based on the analysis, an empirical equation to predict DAA formation using the water contents and temperature was generated.

Objectives: This study was designed to report the effect of Jawon(Ziuan)`s purgative action for insomnia. Methods: A 60 year-old male patient has been suffered from insomnia for 2 years and has been on taking sleeping tablets during about a year and a half. We administered Sihogayonggolmoryeo-tang because we thougt that the disease was So-Yang-Bing Li Jeung. And Jawon was added for quick improvement. Results: I. The score of PSQI(Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) decreased from 18 to 16 after the patient tooks Sihogayonggolmoryeo-tang. 2. After 23 days, the patient tooks Sihogayonggolmoryeo-tang with Jawon at the same time. With the purgative action th Jawon appearing, the score of PSQI decreased from 16 to 4 extremely and accompanying symptoms were also improved. Conclusions: In this case, for the patient taking Sihogayonggolmoryeo-tang with Jawon at the same time is far more effective than only doing Sihogayonggolmoryeo-tang. The result was more improved with appearing the effect of purgative action.

Genomic DNA from bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L) leaves was prepared, digested with Sau3AI, ligated with the dephosphorylated pUC19, and introduced into Escherichia coli JM109. The chitinase gene-harboring transformants were confirmed by colony hybridization and Southern blot hybridization. Four positive clones were obtained and named pCHT3, pCHT5, pCHT7, and pCHT8, and their insert size was 7 kb, 5.6kb and 4.5kb, respectively. The insert DNA of pCHT3 has four EcoFI sites, one Hind III site, two BamHI site and two KpnI sites. The chitinase activities were intracellularly located in the E. coli transformants harboring the genomic chitinase DNA.

For the purpose of finding out the mechanism of ethylene-regulated chitinase gene expression, its cDNA has been partially cloned, and its transcriptional and translational regulation has been studied in bean (phaseolus vulgaris L.) leaves after ethylene treatment. In in vitro translation, 30 kDa protein, a putative chitinase, was induced in stress-treated leaves, cDNA from ethylenetreated bean leaves were synthesized introduced into (?)gtll vector, and transfected into Escherichia, coli Y1090r-strain. A clone containing chitinase cDNA(300 bp) was isolated using anti-chitinase antibody. When bean plants were treated with 100ppm ethylene for 20 hours, mRNA level reached to the highest, and chitinase was induced to the highest level after 30 hours of ethylene treatment, suggesting that expression of the bean chitinase gene is controlled at the transcriptional level.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of auricular acupuncture at the Shinmun on patients with dementia by using power spectrum analysis. Electroencephalogram(EEG) power spectrum show site-specific and state-related differences in various frequency bands. Methods: Study was carried out in 38 subjects.(31 patients with dementia and 7 normal people, 27 females and 11 males; mean age=75.9 years old). To know the effect of auricular acupuncture at the Shinmun in patients with dementia, we measured electroencephalogram(EEG) of normal people and patients with dementia about ``before``, ``after`` and ``after 15 minutes`` giving auricular acupuncture at the Shinmun, and compared the brain wave(α, β, δ, θ) of EEG 30 channels. Results: In the case of patients with dementia, in the power values of α(alpha) band at F4, FP2, FCZ, F8, FC4 channels (p<0.05) during the Shinmun-auricular acupuncture treatment increased significantly. In β(beta) band, the power values at T8 channel(p<0.05) during the Shinmun-auricular acupuncture treatment increased significantly. In δ (delta) band, the power values at F7, FP1, FZ, FP2, FCZ, C4, FC4, CP4, T8, P7, P3, O1, OZ, O2, P4, P8 channels(p<0.05) during the Shinmun-auricular acupuncture treatment decreased significantly. In θ(theta) band, the power values at O1, OZ, O2channel(p<0.05) during the Shinmun-auricular acupuncture treatment decreased significantly. Conclusions: Through these results, we concluded that auricular acupuncture at the Shinmun on patients with dementia could have effect the functional mechanism of the cerebral cortex.
