In order to evaluate the effect of some heavy metals on the sciatic nerve of the rat, light and electron microscopic studies were performed to examine the fine structural changes of sciatic nerve of the rat after administration of lead nitrate, mercuric chloride and cadmium chloride, respectively. Rats were received 200㎎/ℓ of each heavy metal(Pb, Hg and Cd) solution ad libitum for 3 months and then, they were sacrificed. The results were summarized as follows; 1. Lead nitrate-treated group showed the decreased diameter of nerve fibers and axons, and mercuric chloride-treated group showed the decrement of number of nerve fibers per unit area, remarkably. 2. g ratio (d/D) measured in the heavy metal-treated groups were 0.75 in Pb, 0.82 in Hg and 0.85 in Cd respectively, compared to the 0.78 in control group. 3. Electron microscopy of lead nitrate-treated group showed the degeneration of myelin sheath, and the destructive change of membrane of Schwann cell. 4. The severe degeneration of myelin sheath and vacuoles in axon were observed in mercuric chloride-treated group. 5. In cadmium chloride-treated group, the degeneration of myelin sheath and axon, and Schwann cell were observed. 6. Degenerative changes of axon were highest in cadmium chloride-treated group(7.4%) and also those of myelin sheath were highest in mercuric chloride-treated group(23.7%) among the experimental groups. These findings indicate that lead, mercury and cadmium produce the morphological changes in the diameters of nerve fiber and axon, and thickness of myelin sheath of sciatic nerve.
돼지 난자-난구 복합체의 분산에 따른 미세구조의 변화에 관한 연구

Light and electron microscopic studies were undertaken to elucidate the structural changes of cumulus cells from the dispersed cumulus-oocyte complexes. Cumulus dispersion were induced by culturing porcine cumulus-oocyte complexes in the medium supplemented with FSH for 48hrs. The results were summarized as follows ; 1. In intact porcine cumulus-oocyte complexes, shape of cumulus cells were round or ellipsoid but in the complexes treated with FSH, shape of cumulus cells were irregular and have well-developed cytoplasm processes. 2. In FSH-stimulated complexes, light and electron microscopic findings revealed that the cumulus cells were dettached from the zona pellucida surrounding the oocyte, intercellular space between cumulus cells became wide and junctions between them were disappeared. 3. Dispersed cumulus cells showed a remarkable increase of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum, a reduced number of rough endoplasmic reticulum, well-developed Golgi apparatus around the nucleus, and numerous lipid droplets which are variable in size and shape.
볏짚의 요소처리 수준이 한우의 반추위(反芻胃)에서의 영양소 분해율에 미치는 영향

본 실험은 볏짚의 尿素 添加水準(0, 1, 2, 3 및 4%)과 培養時間이 韓牛의 소화율에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 乾物消失率, ADF, cellulose 消失率, 단백질消失率 및 NH₃-N 등을 측정하였는데 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 尿素의 添加水準이 증가함에 따라 乾物消失率은 有意하게 증가하였으며(P<0.05), 첨가수준별로 比較했을 때는 거의 비슷한 水準을 보여주었다. 2. 蛋白質 消失率은 尿素 첨가수준이 증가함에 따라 有意하게 증가하였다(P<0.05). 3. ADF와 cellulose 消失率은 尿素 첨가수준이 증가함에 따라 有意하게 증가하였으며(P<0.05), ADF 消失率이 cellulose 消失率보다 낮은 경향을 보여주었다. 4. NH₃-N 濃度는 尿素의 添加水準이 증가함에 따라 有意하게 增加하였다(P<0.05). This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of urea treatment on the of nutritive value of rice straw. The levels of urea treated to the rice straw were 0(C), 1(Tl), 2(T2), 3(T3) and 4(T4)% on air dry basis. The in situ technique was used to estimate the disappearance of dry matter, crude protein, acid detergent fiber, cellulose and also the concentrations of NH₃-N of levels were measured in the fistulated rumen of Korean native cattle. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Increasing urea levels in rice straw resulted in increased in situ disappearances of dry matter of the treated rice straw (P<0.05). 2. The crude protein disappearances of treated rice straw with urea were increased significantly(P< 0.05 ) as urea levels increased. 3. Increasing urea levels in rice straw resulted in the increased disappearances of ADF and cellulose of rice straw(P<0.05). 4. The concentrations(㎎/100㎖) of ruminal NH₃-N were increased as urea levels in rice straw increased (P< 0.05).
