This paper introduces improved prestressed concrete (PSC) girders for the railway bridges. In order to improve performance of conventional PSC girders various types of PSC girders are either under development or have already been applied in railway bridges. Incrementally prestressed concrete girder is one of these newly developed girders. According to the design concept these types of PSC girders have the advantages of requiring less self-weight while having the capability of longer spans. However the tensional failure of top flange is one of the critical issues at the first prestressing stage. To effectively provide initial section stiffness of PSC girders concrete block on the top flange is used in this study. The efficiency of the proposed structures compared with conventional girders and improved ones is successfully demonstrated in the example.

This paper presents a new strengthening method of underground box structures against seismic loads for anti-seismic capacity improvement. A threaded steel member with pressure devices(so called ``I-bracing pressure system``) is used to improve seismic capacity of the RC box structure. The I-bracing pressure system is fixed the corner of opening after chemical anchor was installed by drilling hole on the box structure. The structural performance was evaluated analytically. Two bracing types of strengthening methods were used; conventional bracing method and improved I-bracing pressure system. For the performance evaluation, seismic analyses were performed on moment and shear resisting structures with and without I-bracing pressure system. Numerical results confirmed that the proposed I-bracing pressure system can enhance the seismic capacity of the underground RC box structures.
상측부 공막낭절개창을 통한 무봉합 백내장 수술후 절개길이에 따른 따른 각막난시의 변화

We analyzed postoperative astigmatic changes with Cravy vector analysis method in 58 eyes that had phacoemulsification and silicone intraocular lens inplatation through 3.2mm superior scleral tunnel incision (Group 1) and 25 eyes that had phacoenulsification and PMMA intraocular lens implantation through 5.7mm superior scleral tunnel incision(Group 2). Surgically induced astigmatism in group 1 was -0.11D at 1 day, -0.01D at 1 week, -0.20D at 1 month and -0.20D at 3 month. In group 2, it was -0.38D at 1 day, -0.38D at 1 week, -0.65D at 1 month and -0.72D at 3 month. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups at postoperative 1 day(P>0.05). But, statistically significant difference between the two groups thereafter(P<%0.05). From our result, we concluded that larger superior scleral tunnel incision could induce larger astigmatism against the rule bue 3.2¼ scleral tunnel incision for foldable IOL insertion could induce only a smaller surgically induced astigmatism.
