Background: This study was undertaken to evaluate how gender differences affect the sensory processing by the Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile(ASP) which evaluates the behavioral responses of adults to everyday sensory experiences. Methods: The study period lasted one month which was June 2009, and the study subjects were 325(three hundred twenty five) people who were healthy and reside in Chungcheong province including Daejeon. Detailed information about the study was explained to the study group and the ASP questionnaires were drawn up by them personally. Results: On average, the study group scores similarly in low registration, sensation seeking, sensory sensitivity, and sensation avoiding. According to the sensory processing abilities by gender, the group obtained scores indicating performance similar to most people in low registration, sensation seeking, and sensory sensitivity, except for sensation avoiding. Furthermore, in the taste/smell processing of "I only eat familiar foods", sensation avoiding score was higher in females than males, and in the activity level of "I find time to get away from my busy life and spend time by myself", males' sensation avoiding scored higher than females. Conclusion: In the study of differences of sensory processing abilities of adults by gender using the ASP, gender differences were revealed in the category of sensation avoiding.
청소년기 경직형 뇌성마비아동의 체간강화 운동이 척추분절 및 보행에 미치는 영향

Purpose : This study aims to examine effects of trunk strengthening exercise in three rigid cerebral palsy adolescents aged between 11 and 13 on their spinal segments and gait. Methods : 2A trunk strengthening program for proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation was made focusing on improvement in their school life and mental and social activities during their school years, and then trunk strengthening exercise was applied to the three subjects for 30 minutes five times per week for four weeks. With the subjects in a static state, each group's gait analysis was made and maximum anterior flexion, maximum extension, maximum left and right lateral flexion, and cross rotation of the trunk were measured using Sonosens (Germany) prior to and after the intervention. Results : Assessment of spinal segment mobility with the subjects in a static state showed that the trunk muscle strengthening exercise increased their maximum joint movement angles from the right side to the center and rotational abilities of the cervical and lumbar spines. Gait analysis indicated increased movements in the thoracic and lumbar spines and relatively decreased anterior-posterior movement of the cervical spine. Conclusion : Trunk strengthening program is effective in enhancing spinal segment mobility and balance ability of cerebral palsy adolescents and considered able to be used together with diverse treatment interventions.

The purpose of this study was to determine the overflow effect and cross effect to isometric elbow joint training that performed in specific angle of unilateral elbow joint. Fifteen healthy students, aged 21.3±2.41yrs, were participated in this study. Before and after the training, isometric training of the both elbow joint was performed at nine different angles, i.e., 110, 105, 100, 95, 90, 85, 80, 75 and 70degrees, respectively, by KIN-COM(isokinetic dynamometer) in sitting position. The results obtained in the present study were as follows : 1. The left elbow joint doing train with 90°flexion was increased a muscular strength (13.87%) and The right elbow joint undoing train was increased a muscular strength(13.96%). 2. The cross effect of the right undoing train was increased a muscular strength(9. 5%~17.32%) and was significantly observed on between 80°and 85°. 3. The overflow effect of the left doing train was increased a muscular strength (3.9 1%~26.5%) and was significantly observed on between 85°and 75°. 4. The variable muscular strength among the angles was a lower rate on the right but the cross effect was observed at all angles. The smaller angle, the higher variable muscular strength on the left and the overflow effect was observed at all angles. 5. At the rate for a week, Muller reported, " Muscular strength could be increased an average 5% a week." But This study hadn't a significant difference. These results lead us to the conclusion that the isometric elbow joint training on specific angle show limitedly cross effect and overflow effect. If we applied to effective training of a long term, many participant, carried a load degree and controlled compensatory movement, should examine closely to cross effect and overflow effect. Therefore, A further direction of this study will be to provide more evidence for this result.
