This study was performed to investigate the effects of low-power Helium Neon Infra Red(He-Ne IR)laser irradiation and exercise on the regeneration of experimentally cut sciatic nerve in rats. The thrity Sprague-Dawley adult mail rats were assigned to the 6 groups : normal group(1), injured control groups(2), experimental groups(3). There was made artificial injured in the sciatic nerve of rats the each experimental laser group and exercise group were treated from 3 days after being injured for the 5 minutes(laser group), 10 minutes(exercise group), and 15 minutes(exercise and laser group) everyday during 2 weeks. There were measured the changes of amplitude of compound muscle action potential and histological change by the light microscopy on the sciatic nerve injured rats. The results obtained as follows : 1. In the control groups, the regeneration were slowly and slightlly progressed to compared with the experimental groups. Inflammation were much more observed, and fibrous adhesion was also observed around the sutured region of the cut sciatic nerve. 2. The amplitude of compound muscle action potential in the experimental groups were significantly increased to the injured control groups at 1 week(p<.05). The compound muscle action potential of the exercise and lased group was significantly decreased to be similar to normal group at 2 weeks(p<.05). 3. In histologic finding, in the experimental groups were observed the proliferation of the schwann cells, the infiltration of inflammatory cells and the extent of destruction at adjacent tissue were remarkably decreased on the 2 weeks. From these experimental results, it may be suggested that the laser and exercise were effected the heeling process of peripheral nerve injuried rats.
어깨관절 아탈구가 있는 만성 뇌졸중환자에게 기능적 전기자극 치료가 기능회복에 미치는 효과

Background: The purpose of this study was to confirm whether surface FES was effective in the function of chronic stroke patients' affected shoulder and whether FES influenced their functional abilities in ADL, as well. Method: the subjects were inpatients at a general hospital in Gyeonggi-Do, Korea and had been diagnosed as a sub-luxation in their affected shoulder. They were 26 and were separated to an experimental group and a control group, in equal number. Both groups had gotten an exercise treatment for 6 weeks. The control group didn't get any FES as opposed to the experimental group. Result: in the experimental group there was no statistical significant difference in the vertical space and the joint space, even though the space was reduced. In the control group, there was no statistical significant difference, either. Moreover, each space of their shoulders was increased. In the range of motion of each group, there was no statistical significant difference. In functional independent ability, there was a significant difference in an experimental group. In contrast, there was no difference in a control group. Conclusion: this result suggests that FES should be effective in the sub-luxation of the patients' affected shoulder and the range of motion of their shoulders. On the other hand, compared to the previous items, FES was quite effective in the functional improvement.

Background and Purpose. Physical therapists are at risk for work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). Little understand the characteristics of work in physical therapist or the effort they take to prevent injury. The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of work in physical therapist and the efforts for prevent injury Subjects. Standardized questionnaire was administered to 103 physical therapist in Pusan association. Methods. An questionnaire was given to each subject. Questions investigated the characteristics of work in physical therapist, efforts and caring of injury prevention. Chi-square Test used to assess the association of general characteristics with the characteristics of work in physical therapist. AVONA and T-test used to assess the association of efforts of prevent injury in independent variable Results. Physical therapist was reported a higher prevalence of WMSDs in most body areas. These attributes sometimes resulted in behaviors that contributed to the development of their WMSDs.
요추 추간판탈출증 환자에 대한 보존적 치료의 효과적인 기간에 관한 연구

Low back pain is one of the most frequent problems treated in clinical feild. Eight out of ten people will experience significant low back pain sometime during their life. Most cases low back pain are not serious and respond to conservative treatment. It's pain is severe and not responding to conservative treatment or if it has significant leg pain. In these cases are may recommend surgery. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effective duration of treatment and degree of variable pain approached conservative treatment. The persons who diagnosed to herniated intervertebral lumbar disc were attended in this study. number of cases were 60cases. We evaluated their chart, X-ray and MRI. The result of the study were as follows; 1. The patients who treated for 33days were improved 100%, which was 3cases(5%). 2. The patients who treated for 45days were improved 90%, which was 13cases(22%). 3. The patients who treated for 43days were improved 80%, which was 28cases(47%). 4. The patients who treated for 39days were improved 70%, which was 6cases(10%). 5. The patients who treated for 28days were improved 60%, which was 5cases(28%). 6. The patients who treated for 22days were improved 50%, which was 4cases(7%). Conclusion ; In herniated intervertebral lumbar disc patients who had conservative treatment. The highest improve patients were 28 cases(47%), who treated for 43 days. The lowest improve patient was 1case(2%), who treated for 28 day. The Effective duration of conservative treatment was more than 43days. If they wants to be improving their symptoms, they should be treat for more than 43days.
3차원 척추 안정화 운동이 퇴행성 변성 디스크 환자의 통증과 척추 안정화 근력에 미치는 효과

The purpose of this study lies in finding out the effect that variation of pain and body deflection posture has an influence on the static spinal stabilization after having performed spinal stabilization exercise making degenerative disc disease patients an object over 8 weeks using $CENTAUR^{(R)}$, 3-D spinal stabilization training implement. Subjects : 61 of DDD patients were made as an object of this study (mean age: 45.46 years, SD: ${\pm}12.78$, range: 16-68), their average height was 161.87cm, average weight 60.70kg, 12 males and 49 females were involved. Methods: 8 various investigations were performed and varied values were compared with reinvestigation done after having exercised 8 weeks using 3-D $CENTAUR^{(R)}$. We used VAS(Visual Analog Scale) in order to see the variation of pain intensity, MOS(Modified Oswestry Scale) in order to see activities of daily life. Results VAS was lessened from 7.50 to 2.71, limitation of routine life(MOS) from 20.26 to 9.32, there were remarkable differences statistically(p<0.05). As a result of muscular investigation for static spinal stabilization by 8 variations of body deflection, muscular strength were all increased and there were remarkable differences statistically(p<0.05). Conclusions : It has been turned out that pain and limitation of daily life was lessened as a result of making 61 of degenerative disc disease patients exercised 8 weeks using $CENTAUR^{(R)}$, 3-D spinal stabilization training implement, deep muscular power was increased. Thus it has been turned out that 3-D lumbar stabilization exercise has an effect on the spinal muscles strengthening and alleviation of their pain for degenerative disc disease.
뇌졸중 환자에 있어서 물리치료가 운동기능과 인지기능의 회복에 미치는 영향

In order to find the effects of physical therapy on the recovery of motor functions and mental state, a survey was conducted to 63 patients who, diagnosed as stroke by brain CT, had been hospitalized in a university medical center located in Jeonbuk provincial area from December 2000 to August 2001. The outcomes of the survey are as follows: 1. The subjects of the study were composed of 35 males(55.6%) and 28 females(44.4%), with 34(54.0%) below 60 in age and 29(46.0%) older than 60 years. 2. As to type of lesion, the surveyed patients were divided into 28(44.4%) with cerebral infarction, 24(38.1%) with cerebral hemorrhage, and 11(17.5%) with subarachnoid hemorrhage. In terms of size of lesion, they were divided into 29(46.0% with less than tan 1cm, 15 (23.8%) with $1{\sim}2cm$ and 19(30.2%) with longer than 2cm. Thirty-five patients(55.7%) reported paralysis in their right side, while 28(44.8%) complained paralysis in their left side. No recidivation was reported by 51(81.1%) while recidivation was asserted by 12(19%). Among them, 27(42.9%) had no past history but 36(57.1%) had such. 3. Regarding the time hour onset to admission to physical therapy, 46patients(73.0%) experienced it for less than one month, while 17(27.0%) for longer than one month. In terms of period of physical therapy, 30(47.6%) underwent the therapy for less than one month, 18(28.6%) for 1-2 months and 15(23.8%) for longer than 2 months. As is shown in the above study, the longer the period of physical therapy is, the more changes might occur in points of MMSE-K and MMAS. It may, therefore, be concluded that sufficiently longer period of physical therapy ensures the increased recovery of physical functions from stroke.

Background: The purpose of present study is to effect of arm swing on uphill road gait in healthy adults. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: This study was Participated in 15 healthy subjects. The subjects were allowed to walk uphill, about 10m from the line drawn on the floor. The subject stood at the starting line and started by pressing the start button with the signal "start", and I pressed Stop at the last incoming point. Walking with and without arm swing was measured twice in random draws. Results: Walking path with arm swing showed good results in walking path duration, cadence, speed, stride length, and Gait cycle duration rather than uphill walk without arm swing. Conclusion: As a results of this study, The arm swing is important in getting uphill.
신경근전기자극치료가 뇌졸중 환자의 연하장애에 미치는 효과

Background: The purpose of this study was to provide the basis for the treatment intervention by identifying the treatment effect when rehabilitation intervention is applied to patients with dysphagia due to stroke and by comparing the results of the treatment mediation according to the differences of the treatment methods and frequency. Design: Randomized Controlled Trial. Methods: 30 people diagnosed with dysphagia due to stroke were divided in accordance with the differences in treatment mediation techniques and treatment frequency- traditional swallowing rehabilitation coupled with neuromuscular electrical stimulation group and only neuromuscular electrical stimulation group/ 5 times per week group and 2 times per week group, and ten weeks of treatment intervention was performed. Paired t test was employed to show the efficacy of treatment intervention, Independent sample t test was used to compare the results according to difference and number of treatment intervention techniques. Results: There was a significant positive effect of treatment on traditional swallowing rehabilitation coupled with neuromuscular electrical stimulation group, only neuromuscular electrical stimulation group, 5 times per week group and 2 times per week group (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in treatment effect between traditional swallowing rehabilitation coupled with neuromuscular electrical stimulation group and only neuromuscular electrical stimulation group (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in treatment effect between 5 times per week group and 2 times per week group (p<0.05). Conclusion: There was no significant difference according to the technique or number of treatments of swallowing rehabilitation treatment interventions, but it was confirmed that rehabilitation intervention for dysphagia showed positive treatment effect.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of visual and auditory stimulation randomly applied to healthy adults on walking. Design: Randomized Controlled Trial. Methods: Twenty-six healthy students in S college were randomly divided into visual feedback group (n=13) and auditory feedback group (n=13). The visual feedback group walked using four conditions. 1) In the red screen was shown, clap twice to the right, 2) In yellow screen, clap twice to the left, 3) In green screen, clap twice over head. 4) Do not clap in purple screen. The auditory feedback group walked using four conditions. 1)in red, clap twice to the right, 2) In yellow, clap twice left, 3) In green, clap twice over your head. 4) Do not clap in purple. All subjects measured gait variables before and after the test using G-walker. Result: The visual feedback group showed a significant decrease (p<.05) in the number of steps per minute, walking speed, and step length compared with that of normal walking. The auditory feedback group showed a significant decrease (p<.05) in the number of steps per minute, walking speed, and step length than that of normal walking. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that visual and auditory stimulation applied to healthy adults may have significant effects on walking.
목운동방법이 앞머리자세의 목각도와 주위근육의 근활성도에 미치는 영향

Background: The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the effects of neck and trunk combined exercise program and single exercise on neck angle and neck and shoulder muscle activity. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: In the single exercise group, the basic stretching, head bending and neck bending exercises were performed. The neck and trunk combined exercise group performed torso strength and trunk stability exercises to stabilize the trunk, and then performed the same neck exercise as the single exercise group. The exercise program was conducted 5 days per week for 2 weeks. One-way repeated ANOVA was used to investigate the statistical analysis of neck angle, neck and upper and middle trapezius muscle activity. Results: 1) There was no significant difference in neck angle degree after exercise in neck single exercise group. 2) In the neck and trunk combined exercise, the neck angle degree decreased continuously with the increase of the experimental period and showed a significant difference. 3) In the single exercise group, the muscles which showed significant difference compared to the post-exercise were the right upper, left and right middle trapezius. 4) In the neck and trunk combined exercise group, the right neck muscles showed significant difference after the exercise before the experiment. Conclusion: It was found that the neck and trunk combined exercise was more effective in reducing neck angle and the muscle activity of the subjects with forward head posture was decreased and increased. However, both exercises showed positive effects.
