In this outline, the stability of solid/liquid dispersion was theoretically investigated the matter from all angles by using the modified DLVO theory. The stability was handled various considerations such as a production and characteristics of electrical double layer, total interaction(V_T) that consisting of attractive force(V_A) and repulsion(V_E), coagulation, the stability ratio(W), critical flocculation concentration(cfc) and zeta potential(ζ) etc. It was possible for us to examine with the stability ratio(W), critical flocculation concentration (cfc) and zeta potential(ζ) that may estimation of stability of solid/liquid dispersion experimentally.

In acid-catalyzed acetal cyclization of long aliphatic aldehydes(R=n-C_7H_15 ; n-C_9H_19 ; n-C_11H_23) with 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)propane, 2-alkyl-5-(sulfonatedpropylethermethyl)-5-ethyl-1, 3-propanesultion in the presence of sodium hydride. These compounds were a new group of destructible surfactants which were readily hydrolyzed and oxidized in natural water reservoirs. Physical properties of these new compounds involved some surface properties such as Krafft point(Kp), critical micelle concentration(cmc), surface tension of aqueous solutions near cmc(γ_min), foaming power, emulsion power and hydrolysis properties were determined. The destructible surfactants containing 1,3-dioxane ring were synthesized to about 85±5.5% yield. The cmc values of the compounds by ring method were assumed to 0.5∼5.0×10 exp(-3) mol/L range and surface tensions at cmc 29.5∼33.0dyne/cm respectively at 25℃. The foaming power and foam stability were 170∼230mm and 52∼135mm respectively at 1×10 exp(-2) mol/L, foam was occurred rarely below 1×10 exp(-3) mol/L. The emulsion property of liquid paraffin was better than that of soybean oil. For hydrolysis property with ph and time, these compounds were decomposed within about 200minutes at ph1∼2. Hopefully these compounds are expected to be a good O/W emulsifier that have decomposability in acid and may be used in the process which do not need foaming.

This paper aims to study and analyze the subject of optimal pretreatment processes for metal plating on engineering plastics, especially on ABS-PC blend resin. For ABS-PC blend resin, preetching process is employed to swell and soften the surface of plastics by immersing in the organic solvent mixtures, just before etching process. Sensitizing process is also employed to increase wettability and adsorption of catalyst, just before activating process. If sensitizing treatment process is not carried out, adhesion strength is very poor. In the result of SEM and surface roughness measurement preetching treatment enable the surface condition to be very rough and adhesion strength to be good. It shows that the relation between surface condition of plated article and adhesion strength depends markedly upon molding condition of ABS-PC blend resin. It, by means of ESCA, aims to what kinds of and how much quantity of the metal elements remain on the resin surface after pretreatment processes. Cr residue does not affect adsorption of Sn and Pd remarkably but adhesion strength is reduced, owing to obstruction between resin surface and Pd.

The electrochemical oxidation of phenol and p-cresol tar water treatment application was investigated an platinum anode. At the cyclic voltammetry, it was observed that nagative shift of peak potential of phenol and p-cresol as the pH of electrolytes increases and the peak current showed higher at strong electrolytes than weak electrolytes. In the case, of phenol the optimum electrode potential of controlled potential electrolysis was observed at peak potential region of cyclic voltammogram, but the conversion rate of p-cresol was showed at the lower potential than oxidation potential by the oxide adsorption.

An attempt has been performed to separate Co(II) and Ni(II) in the sulfate solution by supported liquid membrane containing 2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid mono-2-ethylhexyl ester(HEH(EHP)) as a carrier. The mathematical model for the supported liquid membrane(SLM) of flat type was developed to predict the permeations of metal ions in terms of diffusion at the aqueous boundary layer and organic membrane phase, and the reaction at the aqueous-organic interface. The mathematical model developed for flat SLM showed good agreement with the experimental results.
