The reactor pressure vessel(RPV) is usually cladded with stainless steel to prevent corrosion and radiation embrittlement, and a number of subclad cracks have been found during an in-service-inspection. These subclad cracks should be assured for a safe operation under normal conditions and faulted conditions such as pressurized thermal shock(PTS). Currently available integrity assessment procedure for an RPV, ASME Code Sec. XI, are built on the basis of linear fracture mechanics (LEFM). In PTS condition, however, thermal stress and mechanical stress give rise to high tensile stress at the cladding and elastic-plastic behavior is expected in this area. Therfore, ASME Code Sec. XI is overly conservative in assessing the structural integrity under PTS condition. In this paper, the fracture parameter (stress intensity factor, K, and RT(sub)NDT) from elastic analysis using ASME Sec. XI and finite element method were validated against 3-D elastic-plastic finite element analyses. The difference between elastic and elastic-plastic analysis became significant with increasing crack depth. Therfore, it is recommended to perform elastic-plastic analysis for the accurate assessment of subclad cracks under TPS which causes plastic deformation at the cladding.

Brown Ring Disease (BRD) is a bacterial disease caused by Vibrio tapetis which affects cultured clam Ruditapes philippinarum and causes heavy economic losses on Atlantic coasts of france, Spain and England. In this study, to evaluate the effective detection of the pathogen, specific primer set based on 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) sequences designed for rapid detection of V. tapetis. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with this primer set produced the specific band for each V. tapetis. The length of PCR product using designed primer set of Vbts-F and Vbts-R was about 400 bp. Therefore, these primers will be provided with a basic tool for rapid detection of V. tapetis in the various cases such as examination of imported aquatic products, diagnosis of aquatic organisms, and etc.

Shrimp has efficient non-specific defense mechanisms based on activities of the hemocytes against pathogens. Up to now, it has been known that one of the non-specific immune reactions is related to mutual association among types of hemocyte, granular cell, semi-granular cell, and hyaline cell. In this study, we tried to know the effectiveness of feed-additives such as 5-aminolevulinic acid(ALA), chitosan, and hot-water extract of herb on immunity of shrimp (Penaeus chinensis) by hemocytic observation and SDS-PAGE analysis. Finally, we suggest a principle of the examination system for effects of various feed-additives.
일반 크리프 거동을 고려한 균열 구조물 C*-적분 예측

For assessing significance of a defect in a component operating at high (creeping) temperatures, accurate estimation of fracture mechanics parameter, $C^{*}$-integral, is essential. Although the J estimation equation in the GE/EPRl handbook can be used to estimate the $C^{*}$-integral when the creep -deformation behavior can be characterized by the power law creep, such power law creep behavior is a very poor approximation for typical creep behaviors of most materials. Accordingly there can be a significant error in the $C^{*}$-integral. To overcome problems associated with GE/EPRl approach, the reference stress approach has been proposed, but the results can be sometimes unduly conservative. In this paper, a new method to estimate the $C^{*}$-integral for deflective components is proposed. This method improves the accuracy of the reference stress approach significantly. The proposed calculations are then validated against elastic -creep finite element (FE) analyses for four different cracked geometries following various creep -deformation constitutive laws. Comparison of the FE $C^{*}$-integral values with those calculated from the proposed method shows good agreements.greements.

One of major problems in analyzing failure mechanism of real components is the accurate measurement of crack size and shape. The DCPD(Direct Current Potential Drop) method has been widely used for the crack measurement of a structure and finite element analysis has been used for the derivation of calibration equations, which relates the potential drop with the crack depth. In this paper, finite element analyses were performed for semi-elliptical surface cracks with various crack shapes(a/c) and crack depths(a/t). As a result, a calibration equation has been derived for the measurement of a semi-elliptical surface crack in wide plates. Analytical results are compared with experimental results to evaluate the validity and the applicability of the derived equation. The proposed method is expected to provide efficient and accurate measurement of a surface crack during crack growth.
