The species of Grateloupia filicina, Grateloupia divaricata in East Sea were investigated taxonmically in order to clarify taxonomic position. The ecological character, external morphology, anatomy of vegetative structure. Blade length are $15{\sim}40\;cm$, erect from discoidal holdfast of $3{\sim}10\;mm$ in diameter. Stipe $1{\sim}2.5\;cm$ long, narrowly cylindrical below, compressed above Grateloupia filicina. Main axis are long and compressed, $3{\sim}7\;mm$ broad in broadest part. Colors are scarlet to light red. Blade length are $10{\sim}25\;cm$, erect from discoidal holdfast of $3{\sim}8\;cm$ in diameter Grateloupia divaricata. Stipe are single and simple $2{\sim}5\;mm$ broad. Thallus composed of cortex and medulla in section ; cortex composed of $9{\sim}10$ layers of anticlinally arranged cortical cell, divided into outer, middle and inner parts. Partial fragments of nuclear 18S rDNAs from the two species of Grateloupia (Rhodophyta) were amplified using the PCR reaction and sequenced to compare their similarity. The partial sequences showed 98.9% similarity each other. Grateloupia filicina has 371 bp sizes and Grateloupia divaricata has 372 bp size. The G+C contents of Grateloupia filicina is 54.3% and Grateloupia divaricata is 53.64%.

동해안 고유종인 긴잎돌김의 발생과 성숙, 생활사 등 생태에 관한 연구가 시행되었다. 긴잎돌김은 10월 초순에 발생하여 11월 말경에 성성숙이 시작되어 수정에 의해 과포자낭이 형성되고 과포자가 방출되었다. 3월 말경에 엽체가 소멸되었으며 이후 사상체, 각포자기를 거쳐 10월에 엽체가 발아하였다. 긴잎돌김의 특징으로 엽체는 피침형, 모근은 심장형이 대다수를 차지하였으며 거치상돌기가 없고 유성세대과정을 가지며 선명한 과포자낭무늬를 가진다. 암ㆍ수배우체에 있어 엽체와 엽폭비율은 성성숙기인 12월에 각각 5.6∼7.4 및 4.9∼7.3이였다. 1월에는 3.3∼4.8, 4.2∼4.8이였다. 개체수 변화는 10월 초순에 방형구(30${\times}$30 cm)내에 평균 5개체, 12월에는 238개체, 3월 중순에 15개체로 변화되었다. 성 분화가 시작되는 12월 초순에 암ㆍ수배우체 및 영양세포의 비율은 각각 31%, 47%, 22%였으며 완전 성숙된 12월 중순은 암ㆍ수배우체만 69.4% 및 30.6%였다. Growth and sexual differentiation of the seaweed Porphyra pseudolinearis Ueda have been investigated monthly in the intertidal zone of the East Sea, Korea. Young blades of P. pseudolinearis appeared at the beginning of October. Carp os pores were released at the end of November immediately after carposporangia formation. Then the thalli of P. pseudolinearis were extinguished at the end of March. Young thalli were budded through the stages of conchocelis and conchospore. Thalli showed lanceolate type in shape, cordate type in holdfast, absence of microscopic spinulate process and sexual generation. Ratios of length to width in female thalli ranged from 5.6 to 7.4 at the maturation in December and slightly decreased 3.3 to 4.8 in January and 4.9 to 7.3 in December while the ratios of male thalli ranged from 4.2 to 4.8 in January. On October 12, average five individuals were obsered in a quadrate (30 cm ${\times}$ 30 cm), 238$\pm$18 individuals for the maturation stage in December and then it was reduced to 150 individuals in February and 15 individuals in March. Average sex ratios for female, male and vegetative thalli were 31.3% 46.9% and 21.9% respectively in early December, the beginning time of sex maturation. The sex ratio of female and male thalli in December 17, changed to 69.4%, 30.6% respectively.

한국 동해안 특산종인 긴잎돌김의 원형질체 분리를 위한 적정한 조건을 구명하기 위한 연구가 이루어 졌다. 홍조류 긴잎돌김은 동해안에 있어 토착종이며 우점종중 하나이다. 원형질체는 2% agarase and 2% hemicellulase 의 효소를 이용하여 25mM Mes buffer, pH 6.0의 0.5M 솔비톨에서 분리되어 졌다. 분리되어진 원형질체는 PEG 8000에서 염색한 오카무라둥근돌김과 접합하였다. Optimal conditions of protoplast isolation from the seaweed Prophyra pseudolinearis have been described. The P. pseudolinearis is one of indigenous and dominant Porphyra species in the East Sea region. Protoplasts have been released by enzymatic treatment of 2% agarase and 2% hemicellulase in 25mM MES buffer, pH 6.0 containing 0.5 M sorbitol. The protoplasts could be fused with neutral red-stained protoplasts of P. okamurae by the addition of polyethylene glycol 8000 solution.

동해안에 있어 긴잎돌김은 우점종으로 조간대 상부지역에 서식하며 10월에 발생하여 3월에 소멸하였다. 10월에 영양세포로 육안 및 조직 절단에 의한 검색에서 성숙되지 않았다. 11월 중순경부터 육안으로는 암.수배우체가 구분되지 않았으나 조직 절단한 결과, 조정기와 조과기을 형성하고 있었다. 12월 초순부터 육안으로 암.수배우체가 확연히 구분되기 시작하였고, 2월경부터 성숙과 더불어 정자낭과 과포자낭의 방출로 점차 엽장의 길이가 줄어드는 추세를 보였다. 3월 초순경에는 색상이 퇴색되고 엽체 가변부에 녹아 내리는 현상이 나타나기 시작하여, 정자방출이 완료되었다. 12월 3일에 암컷의 평균 엽장은 113.0$\pm$6.8mm, 평균 엽폭은15.3$\pm$1.3mm로 나타났다. 수배우체의 평균엽장은 83.2$\pm$5.4mm, 평균엽폭은 16.8$\pm$1.9mm로 나타났다. 1월 28일 경에는 암배우체의 평균 엽장은 94.6$\pm$6.4mm로 엽폭은 29.1mm$\pm$5.1로 커졌다. 수배우체의 경우에 평균 엽장이 107.8$\pm$7.3mm, 평균 엽폭은 25.9$\pm$0.9mm로 엽장과 엽폭이 반비례되는 현상이 나타났다. The seaweed Porphyra pseudolinearis as a dominant species grows at upper of the intertidal zone of the East Sea from October to March. Vegetative cells have not matured during October when observed with naked eye and microscope. In the middle of November, although it didn't distingush between female and male gametophytes by eye, it showed antheridium and carpogonium when observed vertical section under microscope. From early December, It could be distinguished female and male gametophytes clearly. From Feburary it showed shorted length of thalli by release of spermatangia and carposporangia as maturation. At early March, the colar has been decaeded and side of thalli has been melted, completed of release of spermatia. At the end of December, the average length and width of female thalli were 149.9$\pm$5.6mm and 22.2$\pm$2.3mm, respectively. The length and width of male thalli were 149.9$\pm$9.4mm and 20.7$\pm$1.8mm. At the end of January, the average length and width of female thalli were 94.6$\pm$6.4mm and 29.1mm$\pm$5.1, respcetively. The length and width of male thalli were 107.8$\pm$7.3mm and 25.9$\pm$0.9mm. From this period lengths of female and male thalli have already been shortned by the release of spermatia and carpogonia.

Using multi beam echo sounder, side scan sonar and scuba diving equipment, ceramic type, uneven type and semicircle-ramus type reef into sandy bottom were ascertained. The depth of submersion in 8 m on the coast of Gangneung, East of Korea. Forty uneven type artificial reefs(AR) were totally buried into the sandy bottom. Two of five Semicircle-ramus type ARs had only of their top area exposed. For most of the 45 ceramic reefs, only the upper 25-150 ㎝ of ARs were visible. The burial pattern is different in west and east side of the reefs, where the east side is deeply buried compared to the west side. From these results, it is recommended hhat sufficient analysis of bottom structure and materials especially in the dandy sea area should be undertaken in order to determine the best type of artificial reefs to be deployed and the best location for depoloyment.
