This paper revisits the relationship between lexemes representing five emotional concepts in Korean, pwukkulewum, changphiham, sswuksulewum, swuchisulewum, swucwupum, which are often translated in English as ‘embarrassment.’ We reanalyze the relationship by examining actual usages of the above five emotions, using the 21st Century Sejong Corpus, particularly focusing on the contextual difference between each emotion. Through a number of different analyses such as co-occurring noun analysis and network analysis, we show the contextual commonalities of the five emotions, their contextual differences, as well as the semantic/contextual closeness that exist between them. This study not only provides a more scientific and objective way of describing the relationship between seemingly analogous concepts, but also provides a novel approach to examine contextual characteristics of a lexical item in a quantitative manner.

신생아 집중 치료실 퇴원 후 미숙아 영아 어머니의 모성 역할 발달

The aim of this study was to determine the predictive factors for maternal role development for mothers of premature infants. Methods: A descriptive correlational study was conducted. A total sample of 121 mothers of premature infants following discharge from the neonatal intensive care unit were recruited using two strategies; aninternet-based survey and an in-person data collection in a tertiary university hospital in Korea. A self-report questionnaire was used to collect data regarding personal, birth variables, marital intimacy, maternal attachment, maternal identity and maternal role development. Results: A hierarchical multiple regression analysis indicated that parity, maternal attachment, marital intimacy and maternal identity were predictors for maternal role development for mothers of premature infants, accounting for 70% of the variance. Among these variables, maternal attachment is the most powerful predictor for maternal role development. Conclusion: Nursing interventions during hospitalization to post-discharge education that includes parents of premature babies with positive interaction between couples strengthening marital intimacy and promotes maternal attachment that leads to integrate maternal identity should be considered by priority. Community-based family services such as home visits should be focused on maximizing the predictive factors for maternal role development in transition to motherhood that can contribute to maternal health as well as optimal growth and development of premature infants.

한국어 구어 비격식체 3인칭 대명사 ‘얘 / 걔 / 쟤’

It has been argued hitherto that 3rd person pronoun does not exist in Spoken Korean. However, examination of attested spoken Korean data reveals that the forms yay/kyay/cyay (phonologically and orthographically fused forms of the construction [demonstratives i/ku/ce + ai 'child']) have very high degree of 3rd person pronominal uses, showing high frequency of occurrence. The aim of this paper is to describe various 3rd person pronominal uses of these three forms by analyzing naturally occurring spontaneous conversational data collected from the 21st Century Sejong Corpus, as well as spoken data collected from diverse TV programs. Observation of the data reveals that yay/kyay/cyay have a functional restriction, not being able to refer a third party whose social and cultural hierarchy is higher than the speaker. Hence, this paper proposes that they function as ‘non-polite 3rd person pronouns', to be precise, in spoken Korean. Furthermore, a closer examination shows that the three forms yay, kyay, and cyay also have uses that are distinct from each other. This study argues that their functional differences are directly connected to the functional differences between the three forms of demonstratives i, ku, ce, which etymologically form parts of yay, kyay and cyay, respectively.

Z세대인 10대 청소년의 장래 출산의향 관련 요인 탐색: 한국청소년정책연구원 패널 데이터의 청소년 가치관 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 한국 청소년의 가치관이 장래 출산의향에 미치는 영향을 탐색하는 것이다. 2020년에 수행된 ‘Z세대 10대 청소년 가치관 패널 조사’에 참여한 5,290명의 청소년(13~18세) 자료를 로지스틱 회귀분석 하였다. 인구사회학적 요인을 보정한 후, 청소년 가치 요인은 장래 출산의향과 관련 있었다. 인생관, 가족관, 결혼관, 진로 및 직업관, 사회·국가관은 청소년의 장래 출산의향에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났고, 44.3%의 설명력을 보였다. 본 연구 결과는 Z세대의 장래 출산의향을 높이기 위해 어린 시절부터 가정교육을 통한 건강한 가치관 형성, 국가 및 지역사회 기반의 청소년 친화적 맞춤 지원의 중요성을 제시한다. This study investigates the effects of the youth values of Korean teenagers on the intention of childbirth in the future. In 2020, data were collected from 5,290 adolescents (ages 13-18 years) who participated in the Panel Study on changing youth values of Gen Z. Determining factors for prospective intention of childbirth were evaluated using logistic regression analysis. After the adjustment for socio-demographics, youth value factors were linked to the teenagers future intention of childbirth. Their outlook on life, views on family and marriage, occupational views, and views on society and the nation had positive impacts on the prospective intention of childbirth, accounting for 44.3% of the variance. This study suggests the importance of developing healthy values through education in the home environment from early childhood, a tailored support plan, and a policy strategy for Gen Z to increase their prospective intention of childbirth.

청소년 가족 관계와 학대, 학교 폭력 피해가 폭력 가해에 미치는 영향

Objective: Because of the highly controversial views about school violence prevention and changes to the Juvenile Care Act, this study was aimed to identify the pathways of bullying perpetration. Methods: The sample for this study included 1,508 families; adolescents (ages 11–18 years) and their parents who participated in the 2013 Panel Study on Korean Children. The data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS. Results: Peer violence victimization, a sense of community, internet/mobile phone addiction had direct effects on bullying perpetration. Peer violence victimization and family relationship had indirect effects on bullying perpetration through a sense of community and internet/mobile phone addiction. The effect size (R2) of pathways to bullying perpetration was 19.4%. The results of multigroup analyses comparing young adolescents (11–14 years) and older adolescents (15–18 years) differed by age group. For young adolescents, parental maltreatment had a significant effect on bullying perpetration through internet/mobile phone addiction and a sense of community. For older adolescents, there was a direct effect of parental maltreatment on bullying perpetration. However, for older adolescents, there was no significant effect between internet/ mobile phone addiction and bullying perpetration. Conclusion: It is necessary to consider the experiences of peer violence maltreatment, family relationship, internet/mobile phone addiction, a sense of community as key screening factors for bullying perpetration among adolescents.

명사 ‘아이’에서 3인칭 대명사로의 구문화(Constructionalization)에 대한 용례기반 연구

This study aims to examine the gradual change from the [i/ku/ce (Korean deictic expressions) + ai (‘child’)] constructions into [yay/kyay/cyay] constructions, which function as third person pronouns in Modern Spoken Korean. It particularly focuses on describing the functional, semantic, and constructional changes that seem to have occurred during the process. In order to provide more direct and objective evidence for the constructional changes between the two constructions, Modern Korean data from the 21<SUP>st</SUP> Century Sejong Corpus have been used, and analyzed from a usage-based perspective. Although it is described in modern Korean dictionaries that the noun [ai ‘child’] and its phonologically reduced form [ay] do not have any semantic difference, the examination of their actual usages revealed that they indeed show great differences in meaning, depending on the constructions and contexts they occur in. This paper argues that the 3<SUP>rd</SUP> person pronouns [yay/kyay/cyay] are the results of the constructionalization that the construction [ay] is currently undergoing, and that the semantic, functional and distributional differences between [ai ‘child’] and its phonologically reduced form [ay] are direct evidence for such process.

한국판 산후 모아애착 발달 척도의 타당성 검증

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the Maternal Postpartum Attachment Development Scale (MPAS-K) among Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)-experienced mothers. Methods: The MPAS has been widely used to measure maternal emotional bonding or affection toward the child, including NICU-experienced mothers. To investigate the psychometric properties of the instrument, data from 325 mothers having young children (under 0-35 months-of-age) who were placed in the NICUs were collected during November 2017 to January 2018. Results: After exploratory factor analysis the three-subscale model (positive emotions in interactions, perception of less burden of caregiving/parenting, and quality of mother-child interactions) was validated through a confirmatory factor analysis (X<SUP>2</SUP>/df = 0.97, p = n.s., GFI = 0.98, CFI = 1.00, NFI = .97, TLI = 1.00, RMR = .03, RMSEA = .00). Additionally, the MPAS-K with 14 items demonstrated adequate internal consistency. The concurrent validity was adequate when validated using the Korean language version of the Maternal Attachment Inventory. Conclusion: The MPAS-K has the psychometric properties of validity and reliability to evaluate mother’s emotional attachment to her child with experience of being in the NICU in Korea.

구어에 나타난 “-잖아?”의 제시문적 조건 표지 기능

This study aims to demonstrate that when the utterance-final particle ‘-canha’ is performed with a rising intonation contour as ‘-canha?’, it often functions as a conditional marker in spoken Korean. More specifically, this study argues that ‘-canha?’ functions as a ‘thetic conditional marker’, as it only occurs in situations in which the speaker believes that the information conveyed in the construction cannot be easily predicted by the hearer, thereby explicitly marking the speaker’s expectation that the construction would bring surprised reactions from the hearer upon hearing it. This study examines 31 cases of thetic conditional ‘-canha?’ collected from various sources, such as spontaneous conversations from the 21<SUP>st</SUP> Century Sejong Corpus, TV programs, TV commercials and from videos uploaded to online social media platforms. The transcribed conversation data from the above sources, as well as their visual data are used in this study to find evidence for the theticity of the ‘-canha?’ conditional construction.
